WHERE'S THE BATHROOMS?!

Why is no one asking where the bathrooms are!?

These houses have more than enough space but for some reason the entity doesn't care about bathrooms!

Where am I meant to take a shit???

Follow notifications intermittent

It's only been the last few weeks, some days I'll get a bunch of followers from people who are actively chatting + engaging but it doesn't get sent to eventsub (so bots don't see it) and the activity feed doesn't show it.

They do show in the follower list and occasionally the e-mail still get's sent out.

It's not every stream or sometimes even every follower, today 3 people followed, I only got a notification for 1.

I think it's made worse because I thank people for following, so someone's actively chatting, they follow but I don't know so they just see me thank some other person and ignore theirs.

Why isn't there a way to report profiles for spam?

I keep coming across profiles with HUNDREDS of posts, identical text, post body.

They're spamming 40+ subreddits an hour and all you can do is report the individual posts not the profile.

Did an architecture write up for my React Native app

Hello!

Last year I launched my first solo React Native app, built (without AI).

It's a health tracker (because of course it is) that I built for me and because I shared my journey of building it, things got a bit out of hand...

About me

I'm a software engineer with 20 years experience.

Most of my experience comes from full stack web but I also have a significant amount on mobile too (Native and Cordova)

About the article

I've been promising to do some write ups around the technical side of it.

Things like my architectural choices, project structure and deep dives into the more novel code. Weirdly, today actually marks the 3rd year since my first commit.

This is my first article that goes in to

- Why React Native
- The core stack
- Native code
- Project structure

There's a lot to cover so instead of piling everything into a single article I plan to write focused articles.

The next one will go into my thought process when building stuff, how I structure components and mistakes I felt I made.

Not here to promote anything, but figured this might interest some people.

If you have any questions or anything you'd like to see me go into let me know :)

Rebuilt part of my patio (last photo)

Bit of a bodge job...

The original plan was to excavate it all and refill with new MOT type 1.

I started digging and found all sorts of nonsense.

Prehistoric wheel, pipe work, roof tiles, ceramic tiles and parts of a fence!

Plus all the existing aggregate was covered in soil and plant matter.

Soooo dug it all up, ordered about 2tonne of MOT type 1 and when it arrived they couldn't deliver it because of over head lines.

Instead I got down to soil, laid a double weed barrier, put some of the bullshit back into the hole and then cleaned the original aggregate and filled it back up.

Used a paddle mixer and decided to do most of it in the 30c heat, not to mention i'm morbidly obese.

So of course I absolutely regret everything now but considering everything it looks alright, solid and drains away properly!

Oh and I built a pergola (I also built the cabin a couple years ago)

Was going to do my drive - I think I'll pay someone.

Are services like F*tJ*e worth it?

I'm a total noob with SEO and I was looking at services from FtJe and wondering if it's actually worth it to get started?

I know DR is a vanity metric but looking at their "Grow" packages and they claim to do blogger outreach.

Is it worth the money or just smoke and mirrors?

Losing my mind with GSC and sitemap

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit, I don't know where else to ask for help.

Whenever I try to add my site map google says
"Could not fetch",

I leave it days, weeks, months and it says the same.

If I use URL Inspection in GSC I get the error
"Something went wrong, If the issue persists, try again in a few hours"

When I try to use Rich Results test, I get the same error.

If I try to create a new Sitemap, different path entirely - exactly the same issue.

Both tools can read any other page on my site, just not the site map.

Robots.txt looks like this

User-agent: *
Allow: /

Sitemap: https://[my site]/sitemapv2.xml

When I visit the file manually, it works.

Response headers look like this

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Fri, 17 Jul 2026 16:58:40 GMT
Content-Type: application/xml
Connection: keep-alive
Report-To: {"group":"cf-nel","max_age":604800,"endpoints":        {"url":"https://a.nel.cloudflare.com/report/v4?s=aonzgnFty3XgsYoowE6c4TniBATKfTZXj0P%2BpsZfxXpW5SiwBCnQWHEB%2FdBQWBU97AeQLSGkYH9vJavfzQw1exhNWmmetpKoP8f20hcYWFOpZErIOFS3kyga4TR%2F"}]}
Nel: {"report_to":"cf-nel","success_fraction":0.0,"max_age":604800}
Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *
Cache-Control: public, max-age=3600
ETag: "06c485704a8f1b7ff9ccff386805fe4b"

Server: cloudflare
cf-cache-status: DYNAMIC
CF-RAY: a1cacaf52a6198d9-LHR
alt-svc: h3=":443"; ma=86400

It's 15kb being served as a static file from cloudflare pages with no rules, no bot blocking, TLS 1.0, no weird redirects

It has about 900 pages (all completely unique content) in it and is valid XML.

Cloudflare IS indexing some of my pages naturally but not through the sitemap

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thank you!

Built a new pergola

Been meaning to do this for a while,

I had a rotting lean to at the back of the house which needed replacing and I wanted a space to store ladders and garden tools.

Completely custom built, polycarbonate roof and has a removable roof hatch so I can access the roof of the cabin next to it.

The backwall was meant as a nice way to hang garden tools and protect my neighbours garage, it's floating so doesn't touch it at all.

Temporarily stop the weeds

I've got this drive, it's old and poorly maintained and constantly drowning in weeds

I plan to replace it but it's massive and I don't have the money for another year or two.

If I remove all the weeds, add another layer of stones and then seal it with gravel sealer do you think that will keep the weeds down for another year or two?

What are people's experiences with custom built NAS solutions?

I've been nursed a QNAP ts-453a for about 8 years, it was fine but the drives were dying so I decided it was time for an upgrade.

I've got a load of Ubiquiti equipment and I've been pretty happy with it so decided to get a UNAS Pro 4 with 4x16TB and honestly - it's been hot garbage.

I've got it in RAID 10, the software is buggy, it lacks so many features, if you decide to move anything between you can't even close the browser you have to wait until it's finished which depending on the data can take hours or days.

So I'm thinking of just building my own but wondering if people have any experience moving from QNAP to say Unraid or TrueNAS

Are there other options that I don't know about?

Or should I just get a rack mount QNAP and call it a day?

My app is 1 year old today and I wanted to share some insights

A year ago after about 8 months of building in public I finally launched my first app (Bearly Fit).

I'd been struggling with monitoring my own health for years and I wanted an app that would let me monitor my exercise, nutrition and body in one place whilst still owning 100% of my data. (Sorry I know that sounds like a classic AI pitch on these subs but that's just what happened)

The day I released hundreds of people downloaded, shared feedback, joined the community and even became paid subscribers.

It's hard to wade through the bullshit / made up posts on here and other subreddits so In the spirit of building in public, I wanted to share my outcomes.

From a developer perspective:

  • 70~ feature requests
  • 30~ bug reports
  • 8 Releases (1 pending)
  • 2k~ hours
  • 136k lines of code
  • 1.3k commits
  • 1,534 files changed, +100,403 / -24,275

Most of the code is manually written - AI has mostly been used for refactoring work and tests.

From the business side - for the first year, I just focused on building.

I thought by not investing in marketing or advertising, it would give me and others a good baseline for what to expect.

So here's what that looks like:

  • 2k Downloads
  • 400 Active users
  • $900 in revenue
  • 4.8* and 54 reviews across both stores
  • 182 on Discord
  • 2200 followers across platforms

This is with the caveat that I have 25k followers on LinkedIn and people (for reasons unknown to me) actively want to see me succeed.

So even though this is a good baseline, it's still maybe a little inflated in my opinion.

This year I plan to slowly ramp up both marketing and advertising and I'm excited to see how that impacts it's growth.

Thanks for reading, lmk if you have any questions about my journey so far :)

Any idea what this is?

I'm digging out the foundation for my patio, have I discovered the wheel? Was the caveman who built my patio actually from the prehistoric period?

I've also found a bunch of other shit in this hole, like random metal, china, and various parts of a wall

Has anyone used Fatjoe - I will not promote

I'm looking at a few of their services, primarily the backlinks and explainer videos to begin with.

The pricing looks alright and it feels more trustworthy than random fiverr people for a low budget, but that could just be branding.

So was wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

thanks!
