I’ve accidentally added a stitch, is there anything I can do without frogging?

I’m doing the creeper washcloth pattern, and I’m supposed to have 38 stitches. I’ve accidentally ended up with 39, and I think that happened around 3 rows earlier.

Is there anything I can do to adjust the pattern, or remove the extra stitch without frogging? Frogging with this yarn (100% cotton) is really tough and the loops dont hold for my needles to go through. I’m not opposed to frogging itself, but this yarn is a nightmare to frog. I’m a beginner knitter and when I have frogged on an earlier project using this yarn, the loops were too small and didnt hold, and I had to restart the entire project because I messed up frogging it.

I really don’t want to have to go through that for this because I’m pretty close to finishing it. Is it salvageable or doomed :(

Are there any yarns worth buying from Wool Warehouse internationally?

I did a research project in the UK and still have my bank account where my deposit for my housingwas just returned. I’m not going to be using it for anything else, as it isn’t super substantial but not very little either. Unfortunately I got into knitting a while after leaving, so I wasnt able to buy any yarn while there. I do plan on transferring most of this money out, but I do want to use some of it for things like these if I can when my account is functional.

are there any yarns worth paying international shipping for? I’m still a beginner knitter and haven’t made my first garment yet, but I do want to make this purchase sometime soonish (in the next few months) before my account goes dormant.

I could keep the yarns as a prize I get to use when I’m finally good enough with making garments, and can make something special.

I live in a relatively hot and sometimes humid climate, but it can still get kind of chilly in the winter but no lower than 15 C.

Over here most fibers are available. Cotton, linen and silk are easy to find, with budget and premium options available. Wool is also available, merino is the most common for garments. Alpaca is also available.

While there are indie dyers and artisans, the variety of colours and combinations are a bit lacking, especially for wool. There are substantially more
options for cotton and linen, which makes sense.

Considering all of this, what would be stand out options to buy? I think some kind of wool maybe? something that would be hard to come by in most places apart from the UK, but still something I can realistically wear without boiling. I do want it to last and not just be something I make and never wear.

A yarn with a wide variety of colours to choose from would be great.

I definitely want to make garments out of these, a sweater, cardigan etc…

I’m even considering socks too but symfonie sock yarn is already widely available in some lovely colours that would keep me occupied for a while.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Second ever washcloth

I’m a beginner knitter ans have only made one other washcloth which was completely wonky and just super bad. That was a different pattern and I’ve added it for reference. I was struggling using acrylic yarn and bamboo needles.

I’ve since switched to metal needles and find it much smoother and not struggling to make basic knit and purls.

I tried to use the Garden Gate pattern on Ravelry and 100% cotton yarn in weight 4. I wrote down the entire pattern and checked off rows as I did them, but I have royally screwed it up somewhere because it switches the look completely after a couple of rows.

I also ended up with holes that I noticed too late. I struggled with the bind off as well. I used a yarnless bind off and found it really finnicky with metal needles and struggled to get the stitches off, but I managed to complete it somehow.

I didn’t expect it to turn out perfectly but I’m wondering how to get better at knitting? I need to learn how to spot and correct my mistakes but I think I made such stupid ones and dont even know what I did and I’m afraid to correct them because I think I’ll make it a million times worse.

I already frogged the project a quarter way through and completely restarted because even though I used the needle to secure where I needed to frog till, the loops were so small and didnt hold so I just scrapped the whole thing to restart.

I’m not too dissatisfied with it but I do want to get better. Is there any feedback and advice? I would appreciate any insight. less

Is it possible to get sterilised without being married or having children?

As someone who is 100% childfree with absolute certainty, it was incredibly disheartening and enraging to find out that we have no bodily autonomy to get the sterilisation procedure without being married and having a child.

Looking more into the topic, I find contradicting information about it and I wanted to post here to see if anyone has looked into the issue and has more information on it.

From my understanding, being married and having children is part of the guidelines. Is it an actual, enforceable legal requirement? I have also read that when asked about this, the information is self declared. Do private healthcare providers have the means and authority to demand proof of marriage and having children? Is there any consequence to self declaring even if the circumstances are otherwise. I get that doctors may still want to confirm or refuse to do the procedure without proof.

I’m also so angry that in this country it would be nearly impossible to find a doctor that is willing to provide this surgery for childfree men and women. I understand that 99% of doctors would reject and shame someone for being childfree and requesting the procedure. However I wanted to understand what is the actual law surrounding this. Particularly if the information you provide can be self declared. What can be done with this information once it’s on your medical records? Can it ever be used against you?

Has anybody, particularly mid twenties, looked into this? Do we have any choice at all apart from literally going to a foreign country to have bodily autonomy? I think there is a list of trusted and non-judgemental doctors on TwoXIndia subreddit but I’m not sure if they would actually be in support of CF people.

And if anybody has any legal expertise regarding this, any insight would be appreciated.

How do I learn to count rows in a pattern?

My current project is the Garden Gate washcloth - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garden-gate-washcloth

I left the project for a day or two and completely forgot where I left off. I should have taken note of it and I tried counting my rows, I think its 10? But I’m not sure if I’m counting it correctly.

I would be able to count on garter or stockinette a lot easier but the nature of this pattern and this yarn is making it a bit difficult for me.

Could someone please help me out and give me any advice on how to count rows on a pattern?

Beginner practicing stockinette and wondering what I did wrong here? so I can try to avoid it in the future

Dish cloth gone wrong

Complete beginner. I started maybe 2 weeks ago and just have sort of completed my first sort of wash cloth. The pattern I used is this: https://jknitsandbits.wordpress.com/2017/07/19/p5-simple-dishcloth-knit/

I mainly followed a youtube video that showcases this project.

Before starting this I was mainly just practicing knitting rows and also learned how to purl. When learning how to knit, I initially bought 75% acrylic and 25% wool yarn and 5 mm bamboo knitting needles. This equipment in particular was what Id seen recommended for beginners as it is low cost.

I chose this project just for practice, hoping to knit a proper cotton dishcloth eventually. But quickly I realised that this yarn and bamboo needles were really annoying to use. Especially when decreasing stitches it felt like I was fighting the yarn and needles both and I could see it becoming wonkier, though I think I already was messing up with the easier increasing side. I already think I’m a tight knitter and already had posted here earlier about that, but I had fixed that issue which was not wrapping the yarn around the width of the needle. But this yarn and needles absolutely do not go together and also threaded apart sometimes which made it very difficult to deal with and see whats going on when making the stitch.

I was right at the very end when the yarn had threaded and the stitches got really impossible to do and I wasnt able to cast off properly according to the instructions so I just let it sort of exist as is.

Could any experienced knitters please give me some feedback? I can see several places where Ive made a lot of mistakes, and learning how I made these and how to avoid it in the future would be really valuable for me to learn.

Honestly I should have learned fixing them as I went but I was happy that I was just producing some kind of knit work and knew it was never going to end up looking right. I also didnt run into any ‘threatening’ issues (apart from the very end) while knitting so I just kept going even if I knew I was making mistakes a lot.

But I definitely want to improve so any feedback would be really appreciated! I’m planning to get metal needles and try to avoid acrylics for anything I actually want to make seriously, and use it for practice.

Any feedback on my knit stitch?

Had posted a few days ago as I am a complete beginner and was not wrapping the yarn over the complete width of the needle, making the stitches so tight I couldnt continue after a point. After fixing that I am able to actually knit pretty continuously. I’ve been working on just practicing. I would continue to work on this but my yarn had frayed and seperated from the rest of the ball, as this is yarn that we had lying around. So the amount I could work with got cut short. Any feedback on my stitches and if I can improve anywhere? I’m using 5mm bamboo needles and I wish I could tell you what yarn this is but I’m pretty sure its a wool blend.

Now I plan to move onto the purl stitch after this

Thanks!

Complete beginner, how do I prevent my stitches from getting too tight eventually?

Started learning a day ago. I’m using 5mm bamboo needles and I’m not sure what yarn this is, as it’s something we just had lying around. My stitches end up getting really tight after a few rows and I cant go further. I’m also looking for general advice on what I’ve done so far if possible. Thank you!

About Howard in S6

Before Lalo enters, he says that he will dedicate his life to proving what Jimmy and Kim have done. Unfortunately he will never be able to do this.

Hypothetically if Howard lives, and that Jimmy and Kim don’t have Lalo or the cartel to worry about, realistically what would Howard have been able to do? How would he go about trying to prove everything? Jimmy and Kim are cunning and would have tried to cover their tracks as much as possible. I think though that the theater students are very much a loose end as the guy with the glasses even witnessed the drug being put onto the photographs. (Even if he doesn’t know what it actually is)

If Howard gets wind of them, it would be pretty messy. I think even if they all pretty much knew Jimmy was up to shenanigans, I’d expect them to be pretty horrified at what they were actually helping him do. Would they legally be liable for anything in this situation?

They’re students and have their future careers to think about, I don’t think they would try to cover up everything which Jimmy would definitely pressure them to do.

University accommodation trying to strike down gender neutral spaces

Hello,

My friends and I attend a ‘progressive’ well respected university in a major city in the south. The university accommodation is just one building where there are female and male floors, and one gender neutral floor where many queer folks choose to live in.

This floor was not provided by the college, it was hard faught by students who negotiated with the university that there should be a gender neutral floor.

Our university is planning on expanding and the next semester is going to have a massive influx of students, this college is already at capacity and there are going to be major overcrowding issues.

Many of us want to move to the gender neutral floor as we do not feel comfortable on the male or female floors. However, the university has recently revamped their gender neutral policy which is extremely poorly worded, pretty much derogatory and exclusionary. They have also removed the gender neutral floor, and have only designated HALF of one of the female floors as gender neutral.

This causes several issues.

Firstly, a queer space has been completely shut down and half of the floor will only accommodate around 36 people in total. And the admin is going to allocate people based on their own criteria which we have no idea about, but based on what they have told us it seems like they want governmental proof of people’s gender identity which we know is unrealistic for everyone to obtain and has a bunch of issues in itself.

Secondly, forcing gender queer people on a female designated floor is going to make things extremely uncomfortable for everyone involved, and cause tensions and potential for discrimination and harassment. It is not fair to the gender queer folks and the women on the floor. They also specify in their policy that we have to respect ‘cisgender spaces’. What is a cisgender space, how do they define it? It’s so ridiculous. There is one pantry, and sometimes a common room on each floor, which everyone uses. Is that a cisgender space where gender queer people are not allowed to use? What about stairwells, bathrooms etc.. There are 2 bathrooms on each floor, at each end of the hall. When there is cleaning going on, we are told to use the other side’s bathroom.

On the earlier gender neutral floor, you could also choose your roomate to ensure everyone is comfortable with who they share their room with. But now they want to do that for us. They don’t even know what is transgender, non binary etc.. They seriously dont know anything and again this has potential to cause more issues.

This is bound to cause SO much discomfort and stress for everyone.

They also blatantly threaten to move people onto the male or female floors if they dont adhere to their policy, which is a really horrifying prospect for people as it can induce a lot of mental distress and disphoria.

We are all at a loss on how to proceed with trying to negotiate or open a dialogue with the university. We know this isnt right and this is a consequence of their poor planning and ignorance. They dont actually care about us, or frankly anyone in this university.

They just want to fill seats until this university and accommodation is bursting at the seams. They just pretend to be progressive and inclusive.

We just want a floor where we feel safe to live.

Please, if anyone has any advice on what we could possibly do, I would really appreciate it. Anyone with experience with dealing with these kinds of things. Or is it a lost cause.

We dont want to just accept this without trying something at least.

Any salvation for these boots with mold?

I’m fairly certain this isnt real leather, but not 100% sure. Is there any hope for them in both scenarios, with fake and real leather?

Considering buying DLC

I already have France and Scandinavia. I was wondering what should I get next. Within the DLCs that will connect to the maps I have right now, which one has the most variety within it and also content.

I know they are all excellent but I will probably not be buying any DLC for a while so I want to invest in something that will keep me occupied.

Diverse landscapes which scratches the itch for different kind of environments

How to turn off people also ask feature IOS

This comes up on top of most text posts and is incredibly annoying. I hate AI and will never use AI features. I dont want to see it or anything similar. Is there any way to remove all the AI features on mobile?

I have a ton of old magazines, especially national geographic in my home and I would love to get into a hobby that uses them. I did use to junk journal and wanted to get into collages, which I think I will definitely do. However I don’t just want to stick to that, I was wondering if theres anything creative and unique, especially using my hands that I can try to do.

I was really inspired by a creator on Instagram who uses old out of date field guides to make jewelry. It looks really beautiful and polished, and probably out of my skillset and current tools.

Is there anything adjacent to this that I could do, or that is doable for a regular college student. My budget is not that big unfortunately.
