Newbie here (Italian & indigenous roots)
Hi everyone! I’m a cradle Catholic, and for as long as I can remember I’ve felt a strong connection to the saints, angels, nature, and what I believe is the spiritual world. I’ve also had a couple of experiences that I believe were visits from my grandmother and a close friend from high school after they passed away.
For a long time I tried to set those experiences aside, but I’m finally at a place where I want to explore that part of my spirituality instead of ignoring it.
My dad’s family is from southern Italy, and my mom’s side has Indigenous ancestry. I’d love to hear from anyone with similar roots, especially if you have Italian folk traditions, devotions, or family practices that have been passed down through the generations. Since I’m half Italian, I’m especially interested in learning more about those traditions.
Just for fun: St. Paul has always been my favorite saint. My birthday falls on the feast of St. Mary Magdalene (coming up soon!), and lately I’ve been drawn to St. Teresa of Ávila. I also have a special devotion to Saint Anne. After 3 years of infertility, I prayed through her intercession before becoming pregnant, and I also felt her presence and protection during labor and delivery.
