I really dislike the sound of yawning

There are lots of noises that annoy me, most of them are things that would annoy anyone on hear like people watching things in public without headphones etc. This one however, makes me feel like the bad guy. I would never let anyone know how much it pisses me off that they are yawning

The Genesis Golden Axe trilogy - my ranking

  1. GA3 - This is still a great game, despite it's reputation. The music is great and there are more characters to choose from, plus branching paths The graphics are a tad washed out, it could pass as a top tier SMS game in that regard. It's main problem is that it is slightly boring and there aren't enough beasts to ride either.

  2. GA1 - This is one of the most iconic MD games and it has the best themes and details in the levels of these 3 plus a killer soundtrack

  3. GA2 - This is even better than the first game, the slightly increased move set, plus the new magic system do that. Also, I think the atmosphere here is darker, creating a lonely feel that I found very impressive for a video game.

Most people consider the arcade game GA-The Revenge of Death Adder to be even better than these. While I agreed when I first played it, I've ended up playing these games even more over the years.

Sonic Advance trilogy

What are your thoughts on these games? I've played them a few times over the years and while they are always enjoyable, they are nowhere near as memorable as the 8 or 16 bit games where I can easily remember each zone theme. These games tend to have a lot of "just press right" to them. Being Sonic games I really like them, but not as much as any of the GG/SMS games. So they are nowhere close to the level of the Megadrive games

I don't care that much if an actor or musician is a terrible person

Of course, if they are a criminal then hopefully go to jail but when people say "I can't believe that guy is a ****, I'll never listen to his music/watch his films again!" I just can't get on board. I would still happily watch Kevin Spacy movies for instance. And if I like the music of any of the people who've turned out to be *****, I wouldn't throw out their albums in a fit of rage

People who keep leaning their weight into me on the subway

When the subway isn't that crowded there are often people who have space in front of them but insist on moving into me and if I move out of their way, they just keep coming at me. I have to stand on the subway for over an hour each way and that shit is totally unnecessary, some people have a subconscious urge to make the people around them acutely aware of their existence in the most annoying way possible, a bit like really noisy people.

When you play a custom WAD based on Doom 2, what levels are you most excited about?

For me it is levels 8, 10 and 13. I've came across a few great level 31s that used the SS soldiers too

It would be hard for me to have any other opinion due to nostalgia. However, even if that wasn't the case, I still think the original is better. First the clown is more 'ordinary', making it scary than the more supernatural one in the new movie. Also he is much funnier, and basically irreplaceable. Second the younger kids were more relatable as horror movies had more impact on me as a young child, in the remake they seem more like teenagers. The way they are treated in school and it being set in the 50's also made it scarier in a lonely way. The original has so many iconic moments, I don't think that it aged poorly at all either even with the TV budget.

You can answer in terms of eating that cuisine in a major city or places you've actually visited. In terms of places I've visited I thought the cuisine in Yunnan was the best, they use more herbs and spices so even freshwater fish is delicious. There were also lots of tasty mushrooms. As for cuisine I can find where I live, it would be Sichuan/Chongqing because of the 'mala' flavour, I've never travelled to those places. I thought the local cuisine in Hangzhou and Shanghai was my least favourite as everything was very sweet, and Cantonese food can be pretty bland. They just steam everything, whilst everything still tastes good, that is the least appealing way to cook some things.

When I first watched this as a teenager shortly after finishing the book, I thought it was amazing, almost on a par with the movie. I watched it again recently and still really liked it and was surprised to see that it isn't well liked. I get that people will just compare it to the movie and dislike it in comparison, however the miniseries is one of the best Stephen King format as it has the time to follow the book more accurately, this did not disappoint. I think the main actors all did a good job of portraying the effects of trauma and alcoholism etc in a similar way to the movie. The only major let down for me was that the hotel 'ghost characters' were really not as impressive as before.

I have played through all of the retro Shinobi games. Never played either of the PS2 games or the DS game. Here is my ranked list. The first 9 games are all masterpieces, so it is very close. Also, all these games are played on emulator with save states, were this not the case the ranking may change

  1. Shinobi 3 - The smoothest game, best controls. Awesome graphics and music
  2. Revenge of Shinobi - An epic gaming experience, completing this was so much fun and took ages, the only reason that it isn't number one is because the controls are slightly stiff. Best soundtrack too. The dock level soundtrack is immense
  3. Shinobi SMS - This was my favourite game for that system, so nostalgia plays a part here. Being able to upgrade weapons and life bar made this game more enjoyable than the arcade in the latter half of the game as it is not ridiculously difficult. I have spent lots of time on this one.
  4. GG Shinobi 2 - This game is an upgrade from the first as there is more to do, so much fun to go back to every level to pick up all the hidden items. Like the first, I found the final level slightly insane.
  5. GG Shinobi - Although the second improved on this, the dock level is one of the best levels in any of these games, also the 8-bit version of Revenge music is incredible. I think these games are 'metroidvanias'
  6. Shinobi X/Legions - Totally underrated game. I don't understand why people dislike it, or its graphic specifically. Other than the fact that it wasn't as epic as 3 or revenge. It reminds me of Mortal Kombat, especially the bosses. Really good level selection that does remind me of revenge.
  7. Shadow Dancer Genesis - This game improved the dog mechanic from the arcade and had an awesome grungy feel. Also adding a difficulty level gave it more replay ability, the first level is easier than arcade, after doing that it is fun to play at harder levels.
  8. Shinobi arcade - I love this game and the soundtrack, so much fun. However, the difficulty means that I rely on saving mid-level in the later parts of the game.
  9. Shadow Dancer arcade - The last awesome game on the list. The graphics are incredible, and it is a lot of fun. Once it gets hard, I need to save mid-level to win though. Also, it is shorter than Shinobi.
  10. Shinobi NES - This is fun but flawed. It is very easy most of the time, then at random times becomes really difficult. No brief invisibility after being hit, meaning an enemy keeps bumping you till you die. Also, graphics are quite bad by NES standards.
  11. Shinobi Turbographx - Amazing that this is so much like the arcade. However, it is more difficult and missing a level. Still great game
  12. Shadow Dancer SMS - I owned this as a kid and thought the graphics and music the best on the console. However, the game play is really lacking. Considering how poor the controls, and how large the enemy sprites they should have added a life bar.
  13. Shinobi 3 NES (pirate) - This game is fun and worth playing. Beautiful to see NES graphics on this one
  14. Cyber Shinobi - This game was a chore to get into, but once I did, I enjoyed beating it. The controls, jumping and attacking are really bad. It is that bad I couldn't get into playing it again. Also the music is dreadful.

What do you think?

I find so much food unpalatable because it has some kind of sweet sauce like ketchup or something. I think added sugar pretty much always tastes bad to me. I live in China and most of their Western food tastes even sweeter than the original, I had chips with a burger the other day and even they had some kind of sweet mystery powder on top. I know lots of people who hate chilli, but sugar is much more overpowering
