Rant about the Cornell case

Sorry, I need to rant and I don’t know anywhere better to, sorry if this isn’t the right sub

Trigger Warning

The reaction to the Cornell rape case has just been abhorrent, so many men (and some women wtf) crawling out the woodworks to blame the victim, to excuse the rapists, outright attacking the woman and accusing her of committing crimes against them (classic abuser tactics) just vile.

I’ve seen on some posts about it men flooding in going “but what about male victims of rape” which sure, is important, but now isnt the fucking time, they only ever bring it up to demean and detract from the systemic societal violence we face

Im a 19 year old girl, Ive just started university and it, it just makes me want to cry, the reaction from people, some my own age I mean theyre trying to dox her ffs and got the wrong woman

I’ve seen people commenting that she is and I quite, “too ugly to rape” and that the “real victims are the men for coming in that” I mean what the fuck, how is there so little empathy for women out there, like how the fuck is this void even fixed, the lack of basic empathy and respect for us

And like, im English, our universities have a different culture, and im an anti social lesbian who doesn’t drink and cant do drugs, im the most likely to try to avoid getting into any situations like that, but in this world it really is impossible, and the complete lack of caring or empathy is just terrifying, like what would the reaction be if I suffered something like that? Probably exactly the same and like it’s screwing my brain even thinking about how I might have to interact with people defending this shit, like how?

And they wonder why we choose the fucking bear

Anyway, sorry, rant

Notice how silent she is right now…

For those of you lucky enough not to know about it (Trigger Warning) social media, and especially The Website formerly known As Twitter is currently obsessed with the so called Cornell seven, a group of seven men in a university fraternity that gang raped a young woman and posted about it to a fifty men strong group chat

The vitriol towards this poor woman online is, quite frankly, heartbreaking, and it is uncovering some of the worst parts of humanity (in my opinion)

And who is mysteriously silent? But the “protecting women” crowd.

Right when an innocent young woman is being attacked in the worst way, and quite frankly all women are being dragged into this online, they can be counted upon to be silent

As if any more evidence was ever needed that they are no protectors of women…

How on earth does the federations government work

So, I am someone who really likes lore, and someone who really likes politics, so naturally I am drawn to this kind of stuff…

Reading the various wiki pages I simply cannot work out how the government of the federation is supposed to work lol

It seems like someone just smooshed the British Parliamentary System and the American presidential, with absolutely no regard for how they might work together.

Does anyone have any ideas/more info about how it could actually work lol

I just read one of the best fic I’ve ever seen…

it’s a meme I’ve seen online before, that with fan fiction you will read the best thing, the most emotionally powerful heartbreaking or just high quality piece of writing, but because it’s fanfic, you can’t talk about it in normal circles

Well ive just read one…

And I want to gush about it

i give you,

The puppy fic, by SnarglePop

https://archiveofourown.org/works/68301601

(slight spoilers)

oh my god how do I even begin, it is haunting, and I feel will stick with me for a long time…

I usually read a bit of fanfic for half an hour before bed on my kindle, when I saw this recommended I knew it would break me, and I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of chapters, my adhd makes reading that difficult, but I decided to read half an hours worth anyway…

two and a half hours later I was curled up crying because oh my god, it could not be anything else, it’s a 38,000 word freight train that drives pushes you through an entire emotional rollercoaster for Enid, and ends in quite frankly the only way it possibly could.

It left me emotionally wreaked and deeply wanting to talk about it.

Seriously, read it

also, what is that fic for you? the one fic that will stick with you, not necessarily the best, or your favourite fic, but the fic that you will always remember?

Transphobes claim they’re protecting women, but when a woman pushed back they call you a man and wish that you’re raped. Make it make sense

Wednesday doesn’t like people who are similar to her.

Something ive realised from the recent ask me anything, is that Wednesday’s preferred people, are always people who are not like her.

Hunter Doohan said that they made Tyler the most stereotypical boyfriend possible, sweet, supportive etc, which Wednesday seemed to like, of course when she finds out the truth she very quickly begins to treat him with contempt.

we see this preference for people who are arguably “better” than her, play out time and time again.

Eugene and Pugsley of course are big examples, they’re sweet and shy and very much removed from herself.

And of course, there’s Enid, whose just about as far away from her as possible, and who is definitely her best friend.

(Funnily we see a clear difference in how she respects Enid vs Xavier, who is arguably more similar to her, Wednesday feeling guilt about the snood, vs her destroying the gift Xavier gave her lol)

We also see this with her family, Wednesday is horrified that her father might be a murderer, because though she may be dark and edgy, it seems very much like that’s not the kind of person she cares to associate with…

idk really know the point of this post lol, just spitballing some thoughts i wanted to share lol

Enid’s name, a reference?

Does anyone know if it’s been confirmed/has anyone else thought about whether, Enid **Sinclair**’s name is a reference to one Rahne Sinclair of marvels new mutants?

Especially considering that Rahne’s mutant power, is turning into a wolf, and Enid, obviously, is a werewolf.

Along with the fact that nevermore is quite similar in a manner to Xavier’s (no, not that one) School for Gifted Youngsters, and some of the outcast stuff is quite similar to the mutant metaphor?

Just seems like a bit of a big coincidence…

Also, interesting and fun fact (for me) in the new mutants film, which im sure some people watched, Rahne is a lesbian lol

▲ 32 r/LARP

So the LARP I’ve been going to since I was a literal baby, has been running for about 25 years, same world, lots of the same organisers (though they were players at the start lol) and just so much lore and stories that get passed around.

Like the exploits of old characters who died like 15 years ago are still recounted by other character to the new players.

Makes for a really interesting environment IMO, but something I’ve noticed online is that that isnt actually all that common lol?

Just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience
