Book recommendations? Druidry and Brigantia

Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations for good books on druidry, Celtic spirituality, British spirituality, and books about Brigantia or Brighid (worship, lore etc) as well as Celtic pagan practices.

I am half English (northern/yorkshire) and half Welsh (North Wales from mum's side, South Wales from fathers side) so I am looking to learn about spirituality and pre-christian practices, beliefs, deity, daily rituals, spiritual tools etc as well as more modern practice.

I understand a lot of this information was not written down and there can be a lot of misinformation.

If anyone has any recommendations for books, I would be grateful

Switching from methylphenidate to lisdex

Hi.

I understand this is a question asked somewhat frequently and also that nobody can tell me what will work better for me, but I'd be curious to hear of people's experiences and thoughts and how that relates to my specific experience so far.

I have been taking methylphenidate extended release for about 4 months now. My prescription switches between Concerta or Xaggitin brand dependent on what is cheaper. I found that the benefits I get are very very subtle, even on the max dose. There are definitely positive changes I've experienced with it, but I have not had that 'oh this is what people who do not have ADHD must feel like' experience that I have heard people talk about having on meds. I am on 76mg.

I have frequent appointments with my ADHD prescriber, who suggested to me that I can change to lisdex to see if I get better results from it.

Currently I find it a little easier to do tasks I previously would have found impossible (cleaning, leaving the house, putting things back once I'm done with them), my mood is a bit better (I still feel mostly numb but still better than I used to feel), and I don't binge eat for dopamine nearly as much (if anything, I forget to eat now). However I still struggle with impulsivity, struggling to initiate tasks, space out, and lose focus easily.

I am curious to see how it impacts me and if it works better, but also a bit scared since I am getting some benefit from the methylphenidate and I'm scared of not having that if lisdex doesn't work. My doctor is happy to put me back on methylphenidate if I don't get on with lisdex.

If anyone has had this experience or similar, I'd love to hear about how this affected you, if it worked better, or felt different, or even if nothing changed at all or got worse.

Tips for wearing foundation when on tret?

I am on tret due to my acne, and it has been making my skin peel/flake a bit around my mouth. My skin is quite dry at the moment as a result, however before this my skin was very very oily.

As I am used to having oily skin, I have no clue how to take care of dry skin without causing closed comedones and breakouts.

The issue is most noticeable when I wear foundation. The foundation will end up having visible cracks in it where my skin has started flaking throughout the day and it looks awful. My foundation looks great on my nose/cheeks/forehead but around my mouth and chin it looks awful.

Does anyone have any tips on managing or preventing this from happening?

Current skincare and makeup I use is:

Byoma cleanser

Byoma milky toner

Boots ingredients ectoin serum

Tret 0.1% (at night, so not under makeup)

Ongredients barrier lotion

One Size secure the sweat primer (hyperhidrosis)

It cosmetics cc cream

Tips for a new player?

Hi all.

I have recently purchased my first ocarina, a night by noble alto c. I have played ocarina before, but it was a 6 hole and I was a young kid, and I haven't played since (so it's been about 18 years).

I value the advice and opinions of folk on Reddit, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any general tips/advice for a newbie, as well as any daily exercises I could do or any books/guides you guys would recommend.

Currently I do the c major scale for about 15 mins a day, and I try to hold a note steady for 4 bars as best I can. I also try to practice lifting my fingers off the holes at the same time, although I do struggle with my right pinky and ring finger.

Any beginner friendly songs you guys know of would be great too :)

What is this bird?

Hi,

I'm in Sheffield, England, close to the city centre and railway lines.

I have recently moved house and there is a small bird table outside which we have put some seeds on. I notice these 2 birds come to my bird table multiple times a day and they always come together. I wonder what kind of bird they are, and if there is any particular thing this type of bird prefers to eat that I can put out for them?

Managing excessive sweating on meds?

I am on Xaggitin 54mg, venlafaxine 225mg and pregabalin 75mg a day. I feel like this cocktail of meds makes me extremely sweaty and I get really warm easily. It's to the point where my partner will be completely comfortable, but I will be literally dripping with sweat, even when it's not that hot.

It makes me feel uncomfortable, and causes sensory issues. I also feel a bit unclean as a result even though I have good personal hygiene and it also makes wearing makeup uncomfortable because I sweat it off and it looks terrible after only a couple hours.

Does anyone know of any tips/hacks/products that can manage the sweating?

Improvement?

I recently posted a portrait in here and got a lot of helpful feedback, which I have done my best to apply in this portrait of the same person.

I'm not aiming for total realism, but I am aiming to capture the form convincingly and create a stylised and visually pleasing portrait. There is a glare around the middle of the face that I can't seem to get rid of in the photo, the area under the neck and the lower parts of the pigtail are a bit darker in person

I was recommended some books in my previous post, which I am aiming to get my hands on. If anyone has book recommendations for each of the art fundamentals (form, line, composition etc) , either separate or as one book, I'd love your suggestions.

All feedback is greatly appreciated, but particularly shading and form related feedback is what I'm looking for.

Thank you in advance:)

Another Moa drawing

I received a lot of feedback on my previous attempt at drawing Moa, and I think this one turned out much better as a result

Critique would be appreciated

I did this portrait with coloured pencils and alcohol markers.

My goal was mainly to make a convincing portrait that is somewhat stylised, so no need to be 100% accurate or realistic. I do however want to be able to get a good likeness

I always feel that my work looks a bit amateur and I can't quite put my finger on what makes it look that way, so if I'm clearly lacking in some of the fundamentals I'd appreciate being told, so I know what to practice more of.

Sorry for the poor quality reference photo

BOJ tinted sunscreen tips?

I have been using the BOJ tinted sunscreen for a few weeks now, and I notice that after about an hour it dries down and becomes quite drying to my skin. I don't have particularly dry skin, but it makes my skin look so dry and dull even though I don't put powder over it and I use a lot of hydrating skincare under it.

I'm wondering if anyone else who uses this sunscreen has any tips to make it less dry looking, or recommendations for other tinted sunscreens that come in pale neutral/olive undertones that perhaps have slightly more coverage than the BOJ?
