Some pics of the first "official" game of Des' ACW rules.
A cracking days gaming with my Rebs trying to fend off attacks through the woods and cornfield. A tough fight all day saw my line finally give way and with no reserves on hand I threw the towel in.
We properly gave the rules a good test as we had multiple divisions and 4 players but the rules handled it all really well and we were still getting through turns at a fair clip.
Some etchings from the front (not many as I was on my own against 3 Union commanders so I was a tad busy!).
My very good mate, Des, has just brought out a thoroughly enjoyable new set of rules. I'm terribly biased having been a play tester and have had an input into the rules but they are rather good.
Nice and simple mechanics but they make you think and have a great period feel.
Here's a link to my mate Des' latest game. It was a really interesting " what if" scenario with a Soviet force coming up against a Polish force after the Solidarity movement gains greater momentum and the Poles rebel against their government with the Army choosing to side with the people.
As usual played with Des' lovely kit and using Fistful of TOWs 3 rules but with my adaptations to Command and Control. This was the second time we layed this scenario and it was a real tough one for the Soviets both times!
I really wish that this rough diamond was relaunched. I still enjoy playing it as I think it was a cracking game but it really needs updating. Anyone agree?
I've just started playing and did my first few runs as Brazil and Finland to learn the basics and so not to be too overwhelmed with huge wars whilst doing so.
Just had my first go at being involved in a full on WW2 as Romania and I was amazed at how stupid the SI is at running it's armies. Why does it send divisions off all over the place fighting on the other side of the continent when they are needed at home or spread all over the place seemingly at random?
Is there a mod that helps lessen this totally daft behaviour or is it just something that can't be fixed?
I'm thinking that maybe if the number of divisions per army was reduced it might help - I've been treating them as Corps with not too many divisions and it has been working well for me.
It just seems stupid that the actual war fighting part of the game is so weird and it's made me sort of regret playing now.
Is anyone going to Sheffield for the show on Sunday?
I'll be there helping to put on a WW1 game.
If you are thinking about going I'd highly recommend it, it's one of the best shows on the circuit I think and has a really lovely atmosphere. As we live in London we are going up today and will be out for a few beers and a curry later so also a nice "away day" too.
I'll be sure to post up lots of photos on Sunday night or Monday.
A few pics from an excellent game at the club on Saturday. French taking on the Germans somewhere during the Marne offensive.

Cracking days wargaming using my mate John's lovely collection and his fantastic self written rules.

I can't seem to find the records of how far my club has got in the past season's FA Cup & FA Trophy/Vase.
Looked in the Competition & Club Records bits but just couldn't see it. Might be just having a moment but any help is greatly appreciated.
