Feb, 2046 Princeton Update

3 games remaining. 1 win away from clinching an Ivy League title. 24-2 (11-0) currently ranked 8th in both polls 1st in Mid-Major.

I’m sitting very nicely with my 2 scholarships offered at the close of recruiting. John Ibikunle is a lock for Ivy League player of the year and FOTY shooting 55/34/84 splits for 18 ppg.

I just crushed Yale on the road 95-68 with my starting PG out with a broken hand. He’ll be back for the NCAA tournament.

Coach Steveroy HorseChief, December, 2045 Princeton update

About to tip-off for what is likely my last game at Cameron. I’m in year 39 of my zero sim legacy.

We’re ranked now and climbing. 1 loss so far, blown out on the road by WVU 116-99. Just went back to my old school and won at Kansas (unranked) 84-61.

We’re healthy. Freshman No. 1 ranked sensation John Ibikunle out of Nashville, a 6’10” 228 lbs. SF has been leading the way playing PF averaging 17.2 ppg 6.4 rpg 1.2 apg 1.6 spg and 1.5 bpg in 21.2 minutes a night. He’s shooting 54/29/82 splits and could be a little more consistent but I don’t want to split hairs.

Ibikunle has been finding a groove with the chemistry of Jr. PG out of Charlottesville, VA Leo Diogu. It’s been a struggle to recruit guards to Princeton and the 6’2” 173 lbs. floor general has stepped up on a roster with only one other backcourt member on the roster (Surov, starting SG from Finland). Diogu has started every game this year (26 of 72 career starts vs. GP) and is finally cracking double digit assists the last couple of games. He’s posting 9.7/1.1/6.3 with 1.5 steals on 22 minutes a night. His 43/25/67 splits are not ideal but he’s recognized his role (4th in FG attempts, 3rd in 3PA), although he leads the team in FTA and is 8th in FT%.

The Tigers are poised to make another run in the tournament this season hopefully. They’re clearly the best team in the Ivy League and the NCAA has indicated no intention of lifting the nearly 40 year ban on the Ivy holding a conference tournament 😉 . So we’ll have to make sure we don’t take conference play for granted.

Princeton is considered the leading school of choice for 2 All-Americans at this point. A 21st ranked PF out of Lynn, MA and a 25th ranked SG out of Queens, NY.

Anyone ever wonder if Steve Kerr is a time traveller and a fan of Cum Town?

It can’t be the other way around, I figure. Because I’ve never heard my best friend join in on basketball conversations.

Beagle parent things.

* Not worried about vet advice etc. Just sharing. *

My 9 year old caught a rabbit and consumed it on the hottest day of the year. Not our first rodeo…

I doubt he has any regrets but he is feeling it. He’s been pacing intermittently all night and panting hard. Double whammy of heat and an engorged belly did a number on him. Haven’t seen him move that fast in a few years.

I finally made him come lay down in the stairwell leading to the basement (coolest part of the house). I’m sitting here at midnight hanging out with him and he’s finally sleeping. Lol

"That's what I call the Chinese Superman dunk because he kinda flies sideways and got a little slant to the shot." -Rick Barry commenting on Michael Jordan's 'Kiss the Rim' dunk in the '88 Contest.

Jordan ended up winning over Dominique. Even he admits that the home venue of Chicago contributed to his victory.

Barry commented on everything in the 80s and had all but completely disappeared from the mic by the 90s. Wonder why?

Coach Steveroy HorseChief November, 2045 update - The John Ibikunle era has begun.

Won on the road at Iona. Ibikunle had a double double to start his college career; 19/10/2 with a steal and a 2 blocks.

The following week we hosted Georgetown for our home opener and put the nation on notice. Disrespected in the preseason polls (unranked) after a Sweet Sixteen run last year, we destroyed GU 112-69.

Ibikunle had 34/7/2 with 5 steals and 7 blocks. 13-22 FG 3-6 3pt 5-5 FT in 33 minutes.

Ibikunle commits to Princeton!

I almost withdrew this scholarship offer so many times. Never got to top spot. Then South Carolina’s coach retired.

Tonight We Dance! March, 2045 Princeton update.

Coach Steveroy HorseChief has led the Tigers to their 3rd straight tournament appearance. Hoping to get our first tourney win in this tenure. 3 starters are coming of nagging injuries.

Greg Gumbel believes the Southern bracket is the toughest. Big showing from C-USA this year with 5 teams.

Regardless of how far Princeton can go this year; With only 1 starter graduating and 3 total scholarships available (1 unfilled from the previous season), the program is looking good with C Lebron McCollum already having committed and expected to start immediately. A strong showing this March may help solidify a commitment from SF B.A. Erwin (aka Bad Ass).

Princeton men’s basketball is becoming a NYC basketball hotbed with 5 veteran players returning next season from each of the boroughs, and a Staten Island commit from the incoming class; The national media is already generating buzz around the team calling them “The Five Families” and are expecting bigger things to come.

This is the homestretch of my zero sim legacy. 3 more seasons (including the current) in my quest for the elusive 11th National Title to crown my career.

Modern era Diplomatic victory requirements (UN)

I feel like I used to know this but I can’t find it anywhere now.

I’m the Sec-Gen but my opponent built the UN. Diplomatic victory doesn’t come up as a resolution option for me.

Is it because I haven’t discovered Mass Media yet? I’m behind on most tech.

Yarrrr! Anyone else do this?

One of my consistent actions (I wouldn’t even call it a strategy because I do it if the geography allows even if it’s detrimental to my goals, economy etc.); Is to build a fleet of privateers just to play hit and run and delay upgrading them as long as possible.

I’m just sinking caravels at this point with my last anachronistic pirate from this purpose built fort and around this channel. I also hang onto airships to scout for submarines. I had a much larger fleet but a few were sunk from lost combat and a war, then later it looked like Washington might try to jump this channel so I upgraded the rest to repel him if needed.

My best set ever was a game where I had 50+ working out of an island city off of a long continent.

Tony Snell could technically compete in the Special Olympics due to having a diagnosis of autism.

Tony Snell was diagnosed with autism at the age of 31. He was diagnosed after his son was diagnosed with autism and Tony himself sought a diagnosis as well.

Because of his autism diagnosis, Tony is technically eligible to compete in the Special Olympics. In some jurisdictions, simply having a diagnosis of this condition is enough to compete.

He'd be the Michael Jordan of the Special Olympics if he decided to sign up and play basketball for them.

January, 2045 Princeton. Coach Steveroy HorseChief update. 🐅

Ranked No. 4 currently (6 in The Coaches Poll); We are now 16-0!

Made it through non-conference play with some lineup shuffles and some challenging injuries.

Huge wins for the program against Miami (ranked 25th at the time), and Georgia Tech and Michigan on the road in nail biters that came down to the final shot.

I’ve passed Herb Magee to become the 2nd winningest coach in men’s college basketball history.

This year’s squad has been led by Sr. SG Jermaine Bennett. He’s started games at the 1, 2 and 3 (primarily) this year and played all 5 positions. He’s having a career year 17/2/2 and has just gone over 1,000 points, 100 games and will start his 50th upcoming against Penn. He should easily cross 2,500 minutes towards 3,000 by the end of his career.

Rwehabura Iti So. SF continues to be my strong 6th man (2 starts due to injuries) and is shooting .616 from the field. Again a guy who can play all 5 positions.

Pulled one out of the fire against WVU to take my side of The Liberty Bell Classic 89-81!

West Virginia has a 6’9” 231 lbs. Jr. SF from Toronto, Samuel Barrett who may be the best forward in the country. He played hurt along with another starter and their only rostered center coming off the bench. I don’t know if I would have made it past a healthy squad.

My stating backcourt both had career high scoring games (Surov’s first 20 point game too). 3/14 from 3 definitely has to improve. Fr. starters Korajkic and Hope are working hard out there. Hope had 3 of his 4 blocks on a single possession.

We’re now 5-0 to start the season. Big game coming up next week against Villanova on the road.

Edit: Game was on a Saturday. Moved forward to Monday and the first updated polls are out.

MEDIA POLL
Maryland has moved to 1 from 2 in the preseason at 5-0.

New to the Top 10: UNC at 8 (12), OU 9 (13), FU 10 (11).

New to the top 25: ARK 19, UK 21, MSST 22, ALA 23 and UVA 24.

COACHES POLL Top 3: MD, SCAR, TTU

MID MAJOR POLL Top 3: SPC 1, HAW 2, PRIN 3!

We’re garnering national attention. Go Tigers! 🐅

Princeton steps up in Round 1 of The Liberty Bell Classic B vs No. 25 Miami

89-82 victory in a tight one until the final 15 seconds. Miami was led by 7’3” 288 lbs. Jr. C out of Ft. Myers, FL who put up 17/5/4 with 4 steals and 3 blocks. Miami shot 10/19 from deep.

Princeton pulled together as a team to knock off their first ranked opponent.

Sr. SG 6’4” 226 lbs. from Philly, Jermaine Bennett led the Tigers with 19/5/3 with 2 steals and a block.

The bench stepped up with So. SF Rwehabura Iti 6’10” 244 lbs. from New York, NY had 8/3 with 4 blocks. Fr. C Pee-Wee Hoffman 6’9” 237 lbs. out of The Bronx added 10/2 with a steal and a chase down block inside of 2 minutes.
