To what extent should a standard $1Kish loveseat creak? The sofa is more of less fine but when I sit on one side you can hear it creak slightly. The sound sounds like it's coming from the frame but aside from sitting on it and getting off from it I don't talk hear any creaking. Trying to decide when to replace if it's minor creaking and I just need to live with it
(what happened when I threw a bunch of walnuts on the ground in Ann Arbor, Michigan)
I have laminate flooring in my apartment and while the flooring in general looks good one thing I've noticed is that the edges (bevels) of the flooring are painted, so basically just by regularly walking on the floors the bevels can chip. How does everyone handle painted bevels? In the images you can't see the chips because I've touched them up with paint, but it's getting really annoying when the bevels do chip and reveal black spots (the underlying board). Is it my responsibility to fix all the chips? Or is it normal wear and tear? I really don't like how they look but I'm unsure if the landlord would cover it
In other countries, publicly funded national universities are the top universities, for example Oxford in the UK, Seoul National University in Korea, etc. In the US, Harvard and Stanford are private universities and are regarded as the best. By design, we have state universities but not national universities that are publicly funded. What if the US declared five state universities as centers of excellence, giving them extra funding for research and other initiatives? The short list I think would be: Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, Virginia, Texas (Austin)
The laminate floor in my apartment has been a pain with the painted bevels showing chips in the paint, I have images of what they look like after I touched them up with acrylic paint and polyurethane varnish. Is there anything else I can do to make the chips look better?

Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head? 💙 💛
This is not really meant to be meme content because I am genuinely curious - but is the consensus that when someone says they got an "ivy league MBA" they are almost certainly talking about Cornell?
I don't agree with this because I think people just say it as a general signal without name dropping a college because it can be perceived as douche-y or the name recognition is not high among lay people. For example if you're at a bbq with lots of lay people it's easier to signal with "ivy league MBA" instead of explaining what Dartmouth/Tuck are.
Working professional 1BR apartment. Love the morning when the sun hits the furniture a certain way and gives everything a chill vibe.
You can see here areas I've touched up on painted bevels with an acrylic paint. My question is those who have painted bevels - is this extensive maintenance needed every single week? I'm astonished people entertain the idea of painted bevels considering how easily they chip. Do you just live with it knowing you have to replace your floors constantly?
Wow! Go Blue 💙
I've noticed on my engineered wood floor in a couple of spots the paint(?) lacquer(?) is chipped off revealing the black park underneath. How do I address this? Wood putty seems to just rub off
See the green circles. At the edge of my flooring I'm annoyed the stuff in the green circles rubbed off and I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can add it back to the black part? This is engineered wood floor
With the end of the academic year closing in on most T15 programs, curious to see if recruiting this cycle for full time rules was better or worse than last year? How bad is it out there? Anyone who can chime in?
