Question about the timeline prior to the opening with Sandman?

So, the hunters had convinced Kraven to go to New York to hunt down the super villains, but that was six months prior to the opening of the game. And there’s a cutscene sometime after Harry visits Peter and MJ where their stealth copters are seen flying into New York for what I presume to be the first time, so how could they have hunted Sandman if they weren’t in New York yet?

Favorite character exclusive to the BW anime?

Personally (and somewhat ironically) I’ve always liked the Mighty Accelguard/Chuck. I’m honestly shocked I haven’t seen the idea of a Pokémon themed superhero show up in another series of the anime. But I love that episode because of how straight they play everything about it; for a brief episode, Ash’s journey does not matter. Instead you’re watching this Accelgor themed superhero take down three guys who want to rule the world with ice cream. It’s such a random idea to shoehorn into the series, but I love it.

I want to start a casual theme park centered podcast and I don't know where to start

As the title implied, I've been looking into content creation over the last few months and came across the idea of creating a podcast. For anyone not familiar with Defunctland's "Where We Parked" podcast, the basic premise is that I find some topic related to the theme park/themed entertainment industry and share some interesting points on it as well as give my opinions on it. Also as the title implies, I don't know where to start. I know some technologic basic like using a microphone and Audition, but the main point that I'm struggling on is how to come up with something original from my inspiration. I really like Defunctland's podcast, but I also really like learning about the theme park industry in general, and while I don't want to copy and paste someone else's idea, I'm curious where I need to go from there to create an original idea?

The Muppets (2015)

For those who didn’t know, the Muppets actually received a television reboot/spinoff of the original format more in the vein of a mockumentary series like the Office. The series follows Kermit and the other notable Muppets trying to get along with each other’s quirks as they all attempt to run a late night talk show hosted by Miss Piggy, which goes about as mayhem-free as you could imagine…

The show was kind of a flop though, and that’s honestly putting it lightly. Not only were the 2010’s not the nicest to the Muppets in terms of ratings and earnings from their movie reboots, but the show received lots of negative ratings at the time, mainly due to the filming style and the lackluster script.

I watched a couple of episodes a few years ago, and I honestly think the show’s not near as bad as people think. It’s nothing groundbreaking and not every joke is a gut-buster, but it’s decent enough that you’ll have a fun time watching it even though you can breeze through the only season in a day or two.

For anyone else who watched it during the premiere or watched it later on, what’re your thoughts on the show?

Racing Stripes (2005)

To start, I saw this for the first time during one of my high school’s agriculture classes during our horses unit. Why? No idea.

Anyways, this is about as generic of an animal family comedy as you could get, maybe apart from the premise. It’s about a zebra who falls out of a circus truck during a storm and gets raised by a farmer’s daughter and eventually has to win a race to save their farm from some rich boss lady. It’s an interesting twist, but it’s pretty much the same cookie cutter plot you’ve probably seen before. And of course, since it’s a family movie, there’s gonna be some fart and poop jokes. Are they good? What do you think.

How would Team Plasma’s takeover gone if it DID happen?

Team Plasma’s plan was actually well thought out in BW1; having N alongside Reshiram would’ve convinced at least a few Unovan trainers to let their Pokémon go, and combined with the PC system being hacked in N’s Castle, ready to release every PC’s Pokémon upon N’s command, it would’ve lead to mass chaos. But what if their plan wasn’t thwarted by the protagonist and N won? How would it have gone within not just Unova, but the rest of the Pokémon world?

Denshattack! Demo Review:

*JUST AS A QUICK NOTE: I have played the demo on Steam as it’s not on PS5 yet, but I played with a DualSense controller so I’m assuming it’ll play the same on console upon release*

I’m gonna be honest; there hasn’t been a lot of game I’m looking forward to this year. The new Rhythm Heaven game and (maybe) Forza Horizons 6 are all I had on my horizon…at least until I watched the trailer for the upcoming Denshattack!, a bizarre cross between the Tony Hawk series, stylistic choices straight out of Jet Set Radio…and you play as a train?! I couldn’t have been more interested! And after playing the Steam Demo, I can absolutely add this game to my list of upcoming games I’m looking forward to getting day one.

To start, I’ll go over the games visuals, which feature enough hyperpop bold pastel colors and “Tokyo Urban”-esque design choices to make anyone reminiscent of Jet Set Radio style start humming the baseline. Seriously though, the game absolutely oozes with visual appealing eye candy, from the graffiti marked settings of each track to the character designs straight of out the 2000’s. It also runs really smooth and really fast, which is a key component to its gameplay. The background assets all have a certain polygonal edge to them, but it’s done in a way that speaks of the game’s inspiration more than lazy design choices.

Next (and probably most importantly), is the gameplay, and I can confidently say that the game controls…are good. They definitely take some getting used to, especially when the gameplay is very fast paced and it’s sometimes a bit difficult to prepare yourself for the next obstacle and know when to jump, drift, switch tracks, or etc. However, the only real penalty gained is losing a combo score, and (from what I played) the game honestly seems pretty forgiving should you struggle to complete the main objectives of each track. Once you’ve gotten the flow of how the controls work, it’s just a matter of retrying a stage a couple of times to finish out completing it fully.

Onto my favorite topic, the game’s music, which is phenomenal. (Seriously, if you haven’t checked out the game’s “Bootleg EP” album, it’s worth a listen.) Tracks like “Beppu Ramen Express,” “Coastline Funk,” and “Take Me Higher” are all absolute jams and seem like a perfect fit for a game with a style akin to games like Jet Set Radio and Hi-Fi Rush.

My only gripe so far with the game is how the characters are written. I get that it’s the demo and we can’t get the full story yet, but within the demo, I thought protags Emi and Fernando were just kind of…bland…to be blunt. Just kinda wish that their designs matched their personalities.

Overall though, if you’re looking for a super fun and vibrant game to play this upcoming summer, Denshattack definitely deserves its spot on that list.

Favorite theory from Twilight Princess?

Personally, I’ve always thought that the Gerudo War was a really solid explanation following the events of OoT as to why there aren’t any Gerudo left possibly apart from Telma.

The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t (1966)

An unironic guilty pleasure of mine to watch around the holidays. MST3K on Netflix made a great episode about it.

Kinda suprised they haven’t done Hotel Transylvania yet

Specifically the first two, they’re both pretty solid (although I do like 2 better). After that, 3 wasn’t great and 4 felt like a slog to watch.

Welcome to the Wayne was basically Nickelodeon’s “Gravity Falls” and followed three kids around The Wayne apartment complex as they try and uncover why supernatural things are occurring in The Wayne. I’m sure there are some who actually do remember this show, but Welcome to the Wayne also aired in 2014 as an online animated shorts series, with the shorts free to watch on the Nick app.

I never watched the show, but I remember really liking the online shorts. I never finished watching all of them though…

Anyone else remember this show or the online shorts?

Another Bumblebee type film

I’m kinda surprised Cody hasn’t made more reviews about these “supernatural best friend” type films apart from Bumblebee. I do remember the commercials would play all the time during the 2010’s and the movie evidently ended up with some 5’s and 6’s on IMDB and a 23% on RT.

Not only is the concept bizarre, the film itself is somehow stranger.

It follows the titular dinosaur and Whoopi Goldberg who have to solve a string of murders around a futuristic dystopian city, but I’m gonna be honest and say that the plot doesn’t matter. Quite literally nothing in the film matters because of how all of it not only makes zero sense but barely connects to another thread in the story.

Here’s an example; later in the film, Whoopi and Theodore go to interrogate a potential suspect and there’s a random small homuculus basically (think Bob from Beetlejuice but tiny) that they try to interrogate instead since they can’t find where the other person is. The homonculus guy is never explained before or after this scene, and this entire sequence doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of the film’s “plot”.

The main characters themselves are also terrible. Theodore’s supposed to be this likable underdog cop who helps to solve the crime but in reality he’s the total opposite. He isn’t funny or charming, his suit is very much in the “uncanny valley” and near the start of the film, he hits on the victim’s widow, Molly, who immediately is fine hooking up with Theodore for some reason. (Also just as an aside, Theodore has a dog, but you can clearly tell how visibly distressed the dog is with the uncanny dinosaur costumes on set, and the dog was the only character I sympathized with the whole movie) Whoopi Goldberg’s character also isn’t great, but that’s more so because she’s just kind of boring and not super well written. She’s just the “serious cop” until she isn’t.

The only way I could think to best describe this movie is it reminds me of the original Mario Bros movie from the 90’s, but somehow less cohesive and worse to watch.
