They have arrived! (MTO)

They have arrived! (MTO)

Finally arrived! UK based and I ordered pretty much immediately upon the MTO going live.

My first impression is the quality of the casting seems way better than the last MTO, which is great. The models seemed to be covered in far more release agent than usual, so I wonder if the two are connected (suspect not).

Now I just need to find the time to work on them…

Remote won’t connect

I had some issues connecting the external speaker and whilst getting that reconnected the remote lost connection.

I have tried everything I can think of and can find online, but I can’t reconnect it.

I’ve taken batteries out, power cycled, put them back in - nothing. Held back and home to reset - nothing. Changed the options in the tv, searched for new devices etc.

Anyone had this issue or have any ideas?

US Tour venues

From the UK and looking at coming over for the TDAG tour (in case they don’t announce a UK tour). Can any of you lovely US based people help with figuring out which are the best venues. Ideally would prefer the smaller and more intimate venues, if they have chosen any.

Thanks!

Input please - Commander - WIP Progress

Still very much WIP, but some decent progress.

C&C very welcome. In particular on the ‘allocation’ of colours. I think it works but some of the cream fatigues are a little a risk of being lost amongst all the fur!

I will add some more detail to the base too (bit of sand / static grass etc) which should help with balance of the palette too.

Vostroyan commander conversions - WIP

Finally started painting up the chap on a bear that I converted over four years ago, and a more recent conversion. Very much WIP - just mapping out a few colour choices at the moment and see what works.

C&C / thoughts welcome.

I fancied creating another Commander / officer to give a bit of variety. Figure he can be an Ursula Creed stand in too, so I’ve tried to go with that vibe.

Still a bit of sculpting to finish off (particularly some details on the hat) and I need to find some places for some purity seals and some other imperium / 40k coded details - suggestions on that are welcome!

Seeing as this group was so helpful with my last question on Vostroyan stormtroopers, I thought I’d canvass views/opinions on this chap…

C&C please. In particular, I’m a little concerned about the arm/hand position and whether it’s a little static / unnatural and if they may be too large (the original model is far more realistically scaled than Vostroyans). But I’m keen to use these hands if I can to tie the model in. I will add other parts to Vostroyan-ify him, but working on the core pose first.

Thanks!

I’d love some views on whether people think this is enough of a ‘conversion’ to sufficiently differentiate these guys as stormtroopers, and whether the backpacks fit the style enough? I don’t want to move away from the core Vostroyan aesthetic too much / give myself too much work to make these guys, but want it to be clear on the battlefield what these chaps are.

I also intend to paint their hats a different colour to my main troops.

(This is just a really quick mock-up - I’ve not prepared the models at all and backpacks are just blu-tacced on).

These are all old paint jobs, and some on my old basing style. I’ll update them all at some point.

I adore these models - the variety across the officers and the amount of character in each is fantastic.

I really struggle to take photos that don’t make my paintjobs look like crap and wash out all highlights 😅

I am starting to realise though that I probably need to up the contrast in my highlights. They look fine in person though. Hey ho, here they are.

I absolutely adore these sculpts (apart form the slightly odd shaped head on the bare faced guy…).
