My lovely fiancé has OCD, and the most noticeable symptom I have experienced from her is the thought-action-fusion. It confused me so bad at first to watch her get more childish before my eyes because I said she was being childish during an argument.

Usually what she gets stuck on is me leaving her. I’ve never suggested I might, I’ve never intended to, but her past traumas have her believing it’s inevitable, any day now (at least, when her ocd is really bad).

The other day this lead her to start throwing her engagament ring at me because I’m “just going to leave anyway” etc. And that all started because I said I felt abandoned, and after looking up ocd a bit more the last couple days, I can see how my words have directly cause her ocd to flare and cause issues like this. Right out the gate I feel like I should watch what I say more carefully, and not use language that she might internalize (such as abandoning me or acting childish.)

I think weed has been a big help for her. The recent ban in Texas has not done us any favors, but it’s made me consider how much heavy lifting the weed might be doing for her mentals. I’ve noticed around 2 days sober her ocd is much more sensitive. I’m worried to even bring that up though, is there a chance that me mentioning that will make it more real? Like will she feel like that’s the only thing that helps, because I said i thought it was helping her ocd? Is there a medicine that might one day replace the weed? She has expressed interest in quitting, but it doesn’t usually last, though she said she wants to quit smoking for a long time when we start trying for a kid.

We have a couples counselor because she is scared of solo therapy, and I have my own individual therapist. She is on medicine for depression but I don’t know if there’s anything for the ocd.

I have recently been diagnosed adhd and I wish I could notice stuff better, I hope I’ve properly detailed my situation, and is there any way I can use my adhd to relate better somehow? I feel like adhd at its worse is forgetting stuff or blanking when someone says something to my face. But for her she hates herself and thinks I do too. I just want to support her but when she is stuck like that, she doesn’t accept any reassurance or anything.

I’m trying to expand my friend group and figured I’d just be direct about it. I live in Hutto and I’m into D&D, MTG, video games, making weird shit, and generally doing things that are more fun with other people. I’m not really looking for an online-only friendship, I’d like to meet some people, grab food, play something, go do something stupid, whatever. I’m especially interested in meeting other guys who are also trying to make more friends. No need to already have a group, I’d be happy if a few people from this post ended up meeting each other too.
