How important is a CPA in a CFO candidate?

All else equal - thinking about someone with the proper experience and is a good fit for the job.

How much does it actually matter that they took 4 exams 20 years ago?

If you have hired CFOs or are a recruiter of CFOs - please give your input.

Resigning just because I got a settlement where you wanted one...

I'm new to this sub so apologies if ppl complain about this a lot. But this is my biggest complaint about this game. In 1v1s people resign when its 3-2 if the game isn't going their way. So frustrating.

Thoughts on this dynamic?

Been having this discussion a lot recently. I personally think the 21 year age gap is a little weird. Though, I think it’s not THAT big of a deal.

However, the fact that she literally grew up around him is what ruins it for me. I mean he was a borderline father figure to her, being best friends with her dad and all.

The show goes to great lengths to show no grooming occurred (nothing happened when they were younger, that hadn’t seen each other in years, and Monica initiated a lot). But still, it still weirds me out.

To the dads out there: how would you feel if your best friend dated your daughter?

Even Rachel admitted they were broken up...

She spends the rest of the next day saying they were "on a break" not "broken up" and then the rest of the show denying they were even "on a break".

But here she is directly afterwards saying they "broke up" and then asking to get back together.

What even is the point of this loft-jacking?

https://preview.redd.it/o5ldkoqvaujh1.png?width=1138&format=png&auto=webp&s=e83473cc58f13e655ae7897db7c68dd87fc39bf1

Looking at Titleist's lineup of irons here. What is going on with these lofts? (also every company does this, titleist just has a clean chart to view it).

Specifically, calling out the 250s compared to the 250*s... they basically just took the same club and changed the number on the bottom. Obviously its not exact on every iron but most of these are basically just shifted one club down.

This doesn't even actually add distance, it literally just shifts what clubs you have in the bag. I understand that not all lofts need to be the exact same since gapping is different depending on the design and tech in the club.

But when does it get to a point where its just pointless. Is it all marketing to say it "adds distance" when its just shifting it around?

Can someone help me decipher these splits? The parenthesis specifically.

https://preview.redd.it/zadr2xnqq1jh1.png?width=384&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae0781a185d7e504e5e0c1becc805be0640d6597

These are from Lekukie's SMB1 session. I believe I am reading the first set of parenthesis correctly.

8 runs that beat 1-1, 5 that beat 1-2, 4 that beat 4-1, and so on.

The parentheses after the "+" is what's confusing me. What is (1)+(32) on level 4-2? I would imagine that he has 1 run that beat 4-2 this session (cause 32 would b impossible unless I am reading the first part wrong).

Anyone know?

The timing of Barney visiting Lily in SF is impossible

https://preview.redd.it/loxskajlwnih1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=1feee8a57e50ca8cf7431f0f9baeffcbd9f4b935

In S2E19 Lily tells the story of a time in San Fransisco when Barney visited her and told her to come back and he dropped the line "I cannot keep stealing chicks from him forever."

He's referring to in S2E2 where he is helping Marshall talk to girls and then ultimately stealing the girls from him.

Only issue is - Lily returns to NYC at the end of S2E1 and spends all of E2 in NYC with Robin and Ted looking for apartments.

Now tbf, this story is still awesome and adds the narrative that Barney was only stealing girls from Marshall to ensure that he stayed single for when Lily came back. This minor overlook by the writers doesn't "ruin the story" by any means, but its still fun to find/notice.

They really don't tell each other everything...

For the couple that claims to "tell each other everything"... they lie to each other A LOT. I get it, its a TV show and they use them lying as "plot points". But seriously, they are lying to each other over HUGE things near every season.

Here's a list off the top of my head:

  • Lily not telling Marshall about her art fellowship (caused them to break up btw)
  • Lily not telling Marshall about her credit card debt
    • There were a lot of lies that went into this like pushing Marshall to interview with Coatsworth
  • Marshall not telling Lily he wants to stay at GNB for months
  • Marshall not telling Lily that Jenkins was a girl
  • Marshall lying to Lily that he's busy at work when everyone everyone at his firm has been laid off for months (this is such a pointless lie btw)
  • Lily not telling Marshall that "sometimes she wishes she wasn't a mom"
  • Marshall not telling Lily he accepted a Judgeship
  • Lily not telling Marshall she's pregnant

I'm sure I missed some but you get the idea.

Why did we never see Harvey in the mail room?

Am I the only one that was upset we never saw Harvey in the mail room?

We saw so much backstory from all the characters. We saw Harvey as a child and we saw him in the DAs office a million times.

Damn near every episode we hear about how Jessica plucked him from the mailroom and paid for him to go to Harvard. Why do they never show it in a flashback?

Just mentally checked out of my job for a month cause I thought I had another one in the bag…

Lowkey wondering if anyone else has made this mistake.

I was interviewing for another job for the last month. From the first round I could tell they really liked me. Job was a great fit, I thought I had it locked up. I took 1.5 PTO days to travel and visit the office.

All the while I’m slowly checked out of my current role. Lowkey just getting all the basic shit done, not working on any of my long term projects in my free time.

Anyways, turns out I didn’t get the other job. Whoops. Now I gotta lock tf back in… hoping no one at my company noticed….

Been a Sox fan since birth. Family moved to the west coast when I was little. Now I’m grown up and going back to Boston to visit some old friends. Finally making it back to Fenway.

I would say I’m a semi-die hard fan. I probably watch ~75% of their games (yes this year has been torture). But I so rarely see them in person.

Give me the insiders info on Fenway. What’s the best food spot inside the stadium. What bar should I go to after?

For context: I am an FPnA analyst actively working on a pivot into IB. I have been networking decently hard and I have some faith that this pivot is possible. By no means do I have any leads yet, but I have made good connections and a lot of people (that have made this pivot) are telling me this is doable.

Regardless, has anyone taken the WSP modeling course and would they recommend? I know that my modeling needs work and I basically only know the basics of an LBO and DCF.

I would imagine it would help with technical interviews for one. But also wondering how much it would prepare me for the job itself. Also curious if it would move the needle at all on a resume.

Particularly for IB analysts, but all careers and levels welcome.

How many hours did you work this week? What days did you work? What was your latest night?

Also include your title, size of company, city, even pay if you want lol.

Just trying to see something.
