Attachment Issues

My 5 month old doesn’t cry when other people carries her. At what age does a baby develop attachment to their mother?

I’m afraid she will get more attached to my MIL since she took care of my baby for almost a month (from the moment she got out of the NICU to when we got discharged). Though now, I breastfeed her, carry her, change her diapers and hold her when she cries and cosleeps with her. My MIL visits once a month and stays for like a week and during her visits, she plays with my baby and she only gives me my baby for feeds.

I am 5 months postpartum and since the 3rd month, I noticed my milk supply on my left boob significantly dropped. Like it is not engorging or leaking on its own anymore, unlike the right breast. But now, I feel the same to both breasts. I noticed that after 5 hours of no latch or pump, it did not refill much and I feel it is not full. Also, since the beginning of 4th month, I no longer pump at all anymore. I am also stressed (work) and sleeping late. Also, I don’t like to drink water. I am drinking less than 5 glasses a day.

I’m not ready yet to stop breastfeeding. How can I get my milk supply back up? Also, what are the signs that baby is not getting enough milk?

Problem/Goal:

I’m currently thinking about resigning from one of my part-time jobs, but I keep going back and forth on the decision.

For context, I have a 4-month-old baby, and I’m the only one working in our household. My husband handles chores during the day and takes care of our baby in the afternoon when I start working. At night, I take over again when she wakes up, so my sleep is pretty broken.

Work-wise, I currently have multiple clients:

  • 2 full-time clients (one is outsourced to my sister, so I don’t handle it directly)
  • 2 part-time clients that I work on daily
  • 1 project-based client that I work on when deadlines come up

I usually start working around 4–6 PM and end anywhere between 12–1 AM.

Recently, I started a new part-time role, and I’m still adjusting. The workload itself is not difficult, but it requires full focus and attention, so I can’t really multitask. Compared to my other part-time job (which I actually enjoy and can manage more flexibly), this one feels more mentally draining.

I also have one full-time client where my work has been inconsistent, and I feel guilty about it since I’m still getting paid. I know I need to be more consistent there too.

Financially, I earn around 180k–200k monthly, and our expenses are around 80k–90k.

As a mom, I also want to be more present for my baby. I don’t want to miss her milestones, and I want to have time for basic things like cooking or even just relaxing a bit during the day or evening. Right now, it feels like I’m constantly working or recovering from being tired.

I’m considering resigning from the new part-time role, but I’m hesitating because I just started, and the work itself is not “hard”—it just requires a lot of focus.

I guess I’m trying to figure out:

  • Should I let go of a role that’s mentally draining even if it’s manageable on paper?
  • Or should I try to push through and adjust?

I also have one full-time client where my output has been inconsistent, and I feel guilty about it since I’m still getting paid. I know I need to be more consistent there too.

Financially, I earn around $3,000–$3,300/month, and our expenses are about $1,300–$1,600.

I’m trying to figure out:

  • Should I let go of something that’s mentally draining even if it seems manageable?
  • Or should I try to push through and adjust?

Would really appreciate advice, especially from other parents or freelancers.
