I'm learning both Mandarin and Japanese at the same time and in Mandarin most characters have only 1 meaning and 1 way to pronounce/read them. Why does most Kanji in Japanese have so many meanings and readings?

Imagine something like Persona, you control an exchange student in Japan and frequent Japanese language classes where the game actually teaches you Japanese.

It would be pretty much just that, a virtual Japanese course. To make things more interesting maybe add the ability to explore tokyo and learn new words and expressions by doing things like going to a restaurant, talking to other people, these kind of stuff.

I know that this hypothetical game will never happen because it would make actual Japanese courses less valuable.

It has been some time since I've begun to study mandarin, but I've only studied the simplified version so far. I want to learn both traditional and simplified at the same time (more specifically the traditional mandarin used in Taiwan).

Any good materials for that?

Por que os tradutores brasileiros deixam os textos tão complicados?

Tô fazendo Letras-Inglês. Eu passei boa parte da minha vida só lendo coisa em inglês. Nunca li um livro brasileiro, só li dois livros em português na minha vida até hoje, então talvez eu apenas seja analfabeto na minha língua nativa. Mais alguém compartilha desse sentimento?

Já tentei mandar currículo pra tudo quanto é escola de idiomas e nenhuma me chamou de volta.

Professor já me ofereceu mas voltou atrás pq um outro aluno de um período acima quis pegar a vaga.

Sinceramente, não sei o que fazer. Eu não quero nem que seja pago, pode ser estágio não remunerado. Eu só quero ganhar experiência na área (faço letras-inglês).

Tô tentando aprender mandarim e eu gostaria de ouvir um pouco da perspectiva de brasileiros em relação à língua.

Não existe um subreddit pra brs que sabem mandarim ou vivem na China ent eu vou postar aqui msm.

Podem me dar alguma dica de estudo? Podem me dizer tbm como aprenderam e por que aprenderam?

I want to watch anime but I want something that's fast paced (with action, mystery or both).

The only anime I have watched until now is Chainsaw Man and I really loved it, so I'd be happy if your recommendations could be something similar to CSM.

Like, Chinese has so many words that sound exactly the same. How am I supposed to know the difference when talking in real life?

Deltarune Chapter 5 just dropped and everyone is complaining that "the story didn't move forward" and that "the chapter is filler."

Damn bro, if you think this chapter was filler, you really need to rethink your reading comprehension skills.

This chapter might not have revealed much lore, but it was crucial not only for the development of several characters but also for reinforcing the game's themes.

Just in this chapter, we saw: Susie and Noelle confessing their feelings to each other, Ralsei expressing anger for the first time, and Asgore getting some serious character development.

Not only that, but this chapter expanded the discussion on whether the Dark World is real or not, whether Darkners are real beings or fakes, and whether using a Dark World to escape reality is a good thing or not. That’s not to mention the implications at the end of the chapter, when Susie says she’s going back "home" only to return to the Dark World in the school closet.

Conclusion: This chapter might not have had as much lore as Chapter 4, but it was definitely important.

So, I'm learning English and I have to practice my speaking ability but I'm terrible at having conversations.

Basically what I want to do is teach you my native language while I practice my English speaking ability.

I'm not a Portuguese specialist. I may be fluent but I'm not a graduated teacher. I'm just a normal speaker, but I'll do my best and teach you words, expressions, basic grammar and everything you need to know in order to start learning Portuguese.

I will do this for free since I ain't a professional teacher. Classes will be 40 minutes long.

I'm not an expert on Japanese media, but from what I've seen the humor of japan is pretty different from the west (at least from my country).

I've never seen jokes about sensitive topics, I won't give any examples because it might make me sound weird but if you consume western media you know what I'm talking about.

Do japanese people enjoy dark humor?

Chinese people talk so fast, I can barely understand anything. I can only understand a phrase when it is spoken slowly.

Is there any way to train listening? Even on things like language apps like duolingo and Super Chinese mandarin is spoken too fast.
