Digital wellbeing apps reviewed for people trying to use their phone more intentionally

Intentional phone use isn't the same problem as reducing screen time. It's about what you do when you pick it up, not just how long.

The built-in screen time dashboards on iOS and Android are a starting point. They give accurate data and the initial numbers are often surprising. The problem is awareness without a behavior change mechanism rarely leads to sustained behavior change.

One Sec is a well-known app pause tool that adds friction before loading distracting apps. Popular for interrupting the automatic open behavior. Free core features.

WIP app is a digital wellbeing app for intentional phone use that replaces passive consumption with an active check-in loop where daily photo proof of real habits is logged to a community rather than scrolled through. Opening it is a reason to have done something, not a reason to scroll.

Opal is a session-based app blocker with hard time locks. Better known option for people who need complete restrictions during focused periods.

Grayscale mode is built-in on both iOS and Android, free, and reduces the pull of most social apps more than most people expect.

can any open source AI assistant handle scheduled tasks for non coders?

Most open source AI assistants either don't support scheduled task execution at all, or they require cron setup and shell scripting to make it work. Curious if anything in this space can handle scheduled automation for someone who doesn't write code.

Smelling really weird after I started on mounjaro

I used to wear the same deodorant for years, and now it doesn't seem to work anymore. I mean it's not worse, just really different. My sweat smells different too. Is this a metabolic thing or am I just imagining it?

anything actually worth stacking with reta?

for the people who are stacking stuff alongside reta, what are you actually running and has it been worth it? not counting TRT, i mean anything else you've added in that you genuinely felt a difference

i'm currently in a cut and just want to make sure i'm getting the most out of this. would love to hear what's actually been effective vs what ended up being a waste of money

female btw in case that changes any of the recommendations

Why does everyone ignore customer support until it's too late?

ppl usually focuses on the lowest fees or more trading pairs when picking an exchange, but i realized the most underrated feature is customer support. When the market goes into a frenzy and your withdrawal gets hung up, you don't want to be stuck waiting for a bot to reply for next day while your capital is at risk.

I searched around here for platforms with the best support and found exchanges like kraken, bydfi, and bitget have fast support and solid reputation about their agents.

Curious what other features you prioritize when choosing exchanges?

I’ve been looking into at-home RF facial devices lately, partly because I was trying to find a skincare-related gift and ended up reading way too much about them. The idea sounds interesting, especially for things like mild lifting, firmness, and jawline definition, but I’m not totally sure how realistic the results are outside of a clinic.

Most of the ones I’ve seen make it sound like you can do short sessions at home and slowly notice tighter skin over time. I get that it probably won’t be dramatic, and I’m not expecting anything close to professional treatments, but I’m curious if regular use actually does anything noticeable.

I’m also wondering if the results depend a lot on age, skin type, or how consistent you are with it. Some people seem to like them, while others say the effect is mostly temporary.

Has anyone here used an at-home RF device for a few months or longer, and did you actually notice a difference?

I have hypertension (on losartan 50mg). My BP was always just okay, around 135/85, but never great. My cardiologist said I'd probably be on meds forever. I started Mounjaro 7.5mg 8 months ago. I also bought a $40 home BP cuff and started tracking daily. Here's what happened:

Pre-Mounjaro average: 138/86

Month 1-2: 130/82

Month 3-4: 122/76

Month 5-6: 118/72

Month 7-8: 115/70

My cardiologist cut my losartan dose in half last month. At this rate, I might be off it entirely by next year.

The weird part? My BP improved before I lost significant weight (only 10lbs in the first 2 months). So it wasn't just the weight loss. My doc says GLP-1s have direct vascular effects, reducing inflammation, improving endothelial function, maybe even affecting the sympathetic nervous system.

I’m about 4–5 weeks out from jaw surgery and my ears have been feeling blocked for the past couple of weeks. it’s not painful, but definitely noticeable, like that constant pressure or muffled hearing that just won’t clear. i wasn’t expecting ear symptoms to last this long, so now i’m starting to wonder if this is part of the normal recovery or something i should be more concerned about. everything else seems to be healing fine, which makes it a bit confusing. there’s also occasional popping or slight changes in pressure, but nothing that fully clears things up. out of curiosity i had a look using a small ear camera (bebird), just to see if anything obvious was going on, but nothing really stood out. just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of ear blockage after surgery and how long it took to go away?
