First full Stamoid + Strataglass enclosure build by osman

Pretty proud moment in the shop today.
Osman just finished his first full enclosure around a center console T-top completely on his own using Stamoid and Strataglass.
These jobs look simple from the outside, but there’s a ton going on:
patterning
zipper layout
tensioning
clear vinyl handling
fitment around the console
keeping lines clean while allowing everything to function properly
Cool seeing skills turn into craftsmanship in real time.

Why we’ve gone almost exclusively to Cornerstone PVC vinyl in our upholstery shop

After testing a lot of marine vinyls over the years, we’ve found ourselves using Cornerstone PVC vinyl more and more for custom marine interiors.

Good feel, consistent quality, solid finish options, and it works well in the marine environment. Curious what other shops are using heavily right now for premium interiors.

Custom hand-stitched Sea-Doo & Yamaha seats we just finished 🔥

These were fabricated using premium marine vinyls from the Miami Corp material line. Really happy with how the stitching and contours came out on these.

Most of the materials we use in the shop are available through BoatCanvasGear.com.

Proper cushion prep before re-upholstery

Bryan’s prepping this cushion before new upholstery goes on.

A lot of failures happen because people rush the prep stage — leftover staples, rough surfaces, bad foam, moisture, etc. Getting the base right makes a huge difference in how the finished cushion looks and lasts.

Beginning the cutting process for a custom Tempotest Bimini top

Starting layout and cutting for a new Bimini top build using Tempotest. A lot of the finished quality comes from the prep stage before sewing even starts.

What’s your preferred method for laying out large panels cleanly?

u/Infinite-Gate6674 — 8 days ago

Most Bimini frame problems start before the canvas ever goes on.

Here’s a quick look at bending a Bimini top frame using a bend arc and crown arc system instead of just eyeballing it. The goal is to keep the frame even, control the crown, and make the canvas fit cleaner later.

Jersey John’s daily wisdom from the upholstery shop

Sometimes the best shop motivation is just somebody saying “What a beautiful day” before getting to work.
Little moments like this keep the atmosphere good in a busy upholstery shop.

Just wrapped up a fresh Sea Ray upholstery upgrade.

A lot of people only see the finished seat, but the real work is patterning, foam shaping, stitching alignment, and getting everything pulled tight without wrinkles.

Trying to document more of the process lately.

Standing on this Sea Vee center console explaining how we patterned and built the new helm and seat covers using Tempotest solution-dyed acrylic.

Really liking the softer feel and premium finish on these newer marine fabrics. Full walkthrough going on YouTube soon.

Quick video explaining how we handle and sew polycarbonate boat windows for marine enclosures and canvas work. Showing some setup tips and why it’s easier to work with than many people expect.

I’ve been demonstrating different clear materials, and polycarbonate consistently ends up being the easiest to cut and install.

Less cracking, more forgiving, and faster overall.

Anyone else using it regularly vs traditional clear vinyl?

Added an overhead system above our sewing machine to keep materials organized and out of the way. Way smoother workflow now, especially on larger jobs. Anyone else running something similar?

u/Infinite-Gate6674 — 24 days ago

I’m breaking down a full boat window remake and laid out all the materials we use in the shop.

This is for anyone dealing with cloudy, cracked, or brittle enclosure windows. I go over what each material does and why it matters — clear vinyl, binding, thread, zippers, etc.

If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes into rebuilding marine windows (not just replacing them), this should give you a solid starting point.

Full rebuild video is up on YouTube if you want to see the entire process.

Customer just picked this up and was pumped with how it came out. Tight fit, clean finish. Always good seeing reactions like this.

Picked up a batch of cushions from a guy who used to manage a shop for us. Instead of hiring full-time, we farm work out when needed.

Curious how others handle overflow without losing quality.
