Acorn on Roku ripoff

So, I signed up for the 0.99 cent for2 months deal because I wanted to binge watch **Inspector Ellis.** However, although they listed 2 seasons available for viewing, S2 actually only had a behind-the-scenes episode and the rest were S1. again!

Do other services also do this? Are there alternate viewing menus for intro subscribers?

It seems like a bait and switch move. I’m not sure if the culprit is Acorn or Roku (if the buyout had already gone through I’d honestly blame Roku.) I am super disappointed because I’d been holding off from subscribing to Acorn until my Brit Box sub expired.

FOR YOUR ATTENTION: Trump FCC asks public to comment on whether ABC's The View is a news show [Sample Statement Below]

The Federal Communications Commission has opened a public proceeding to determine if the daytime talk show The View should keep its status as a legitimate news interview program.

The decision by the FCC Media Bureau asks for public comment on whether the show qualifies for an exemption to the federal equal-time rule. Under this rule, broadcast stations must offer equal airtime to opposing political candidates during non-news programming. If The View loses its exemption, ABC could be required to provide equal time to political candidates whenever an opponent appears on the show.

The review is part of a broader push by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who has aligned his agency leadership with Trump's stance that the FCC is not independent of executive oversight. Carr has recently initiated several actions against Disney-owned ABC, including threatening station licenses over content on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and ordering a review of the network's diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

Democratic FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez publicly criticized the proceeding, calling it a partisan effort to target a network critical of the administration. Gomez urged Disney to legally challenge the investigation.

The View originally received its news exemption from the FCC in 2002. Historically, the agency has granted similar exemptions to entertainment and talk programs hosted by Phil Donahue, Bill Maher, and Howard Stern. ABC responded to the FCC's latest action with a legal filing arguing that the show still meets the agency's three-part standard for news programming: it is regularly scheduled, controlled by the broadcaster, and selects guests based on newsworthiness rather than a desire to influence an election.

In its petition, ABC also challenged the constitutionality of the equal-time rule itself, arguing that it infringes on the First Amendment rights of broadcasters by restricting editorial control over guest appearances. The FCC has included that constitutional question in its call for public feedback.

The public has until June 22 to file initial comments on the matter, with reply comments due by July 6.

To submit a public comment regarding the FCC's investigation into The View, you must use the agency's online filing system and reference the specific docket number assigned to the case.

Here are the exact details and steps to submit your input:

Key Information Required

  • Proceeding / Docket Number: 26-124 (or MB Docket No. 26-124)

  • Initial Comment Deadline: June 22, 2026

  • Reply Comment Deadline: July 6, 2026 (This window is for responding to comments others have already submitted)

Step-by-Step Submission Process

  • Go to the FCC Filing System: Visit the official FCC Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) at www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings.

Note on Privacy: All submissions to the FCC ECFS—including your name, address, and the text of your comment—become part of the public record and are viewable online by anyone searching the docket.

Here is a sample statement written in a direct, objective style suitable for submission to the FCC docket. You can adapt or use this text for an "Express" filing:

Re: MB Docket No. 26-124 – Notice Seeking Comment on the Status of ABC’s The View

I am writing to urge the Commission to maintain the long-standing "bona fide news interview" exemption for ABC’s The View. The program clearly meets the FCC's established three-part test for this exemption, and altering its status now would disrupt decades of consistent regulatory precedent.

First, The View is a regularly scheduled, long-running broadcast that has maintained the same core format for nearly thirty years. Second, the production and editorial control of the show rest entirely with the broadcaster, ABC News, rather than any outside political organization or candidate. Third, and most importantly, the program’s decisions regarding guest appearances and interview topics are driven strictly by contemporary newsworthiness.

While The View includes entertainment elements and lively opinion, its interviews with political candidates are conducted to inform the public on current events and policy positions. The FCC correctly recognized this in its 2002 ruling, noting that the inclusion of humor or non-traditional formats does not disqualify a program from serving a legitimate news function.

Singling out The View for review risks creating an inconsistent standard that could penalize a wide variety of daily talk and interview programs. The Commission should uphold its 2002 determination and find that The View remains a bona fide news interview program exempt from the equal-time rule.

Tips for customizing your statement:

  • Keep it focused on the legal test: The FCC specifically looks at whether the show is regularly scheduled, who controls it, and if guests are chosen based on "newsworthiness" rather than a desire to help a specific campaign. Focusing on these points makes your comment more effective.

  • Keep it civil: The FCC reviews thousands of comments; clear, respectful arguments based on the rule itself carry more weight than purely emotional or highly partisan statements.

Teachers recognizing nurses

There is a group of school teachers who have a YouTube page called “Bored Teachers.” I started watching them before bed as an attitude adjustment, de-stressing routine. As they were discussing crappy teacher appreciation gifts, they also recognized that nurses get crappy “appreciation” gifts too. I really appreciate their shout out and professional recognition: Thank Bored Teachers!

Sheriff’s Deputy hit unarmed 19y/o with cruiser, then shot him

I did not see this in other news publications so am not sure if more clarity. As described, the young man was not a crime suspect and was unarmed. As he ran away the cop hit him with his car then shot and killed him. I hope his family gets justice.

Although I’ve had an account for about 7 years, I’ve only been actively investing for 6 months. I didn’t know about all the training resources available until I sat in on the live webexes today: Mind blown! My thanks to the Schwab coaching teams. I feel optimistic about making truly informed decisions.

Despite the conviction & sentencing of Eric DeValkenaere for the murder of Cameron Lamb, Mike Parsons pardoned the now former police officer. Now, the threat to MO continues: DeValkenaere is campaigning for Nathan Willett. Willett hopes to capitalize on the GOPs congressional redistricting and apparently is totally OK with accepting the endorsement of a racist murdering former cop and aligning the corrupt MO GOP. Vote them out.

I have two folks that obviously don’t even pretend to review what they write and they txt me often. Sure, we all make typos and sometimes hit send before checking but seriously; I would swear that one says “Here, you figure out what I’m talking about.” And yes, I reply with “I don’t know what you’re saying” but the garbage just keeps coming. I’ve even said “you’re gonna have to call (and I hate phone calls) ‘cause I don’t understand this”
