Just wanted to put out a quick heads-up about a specific trend we’ve been seeing lately. You might have noticed posts popping up asking for things like "the best restaurant recommendations" or "hidden food gems in the city." While they look innocent, a lot of these accounts aren't actually from here at all.
Why are they doing this?
It’s a classic tactic for bots, scammers, or karma farmers. They target local community subreddits with food questions because they know actual residents are passionate about their local spots and will instantly upvote and comment. It’s an easy way for a fake account to build up quick credibility before they pivot to spamming or pulling scams elsewhere on Reddit.
