So every time I've wanted to drink wine in the bath it's annoying.

A few times wine has spilled in the bath and otherwise it just feels like the glass is going to fall into the bath.

A while ago I decided to see if I could solve the problem by making the cup itself float. After a lot of prototyping, I finally got it working, and it's been surprisingly satisfying to use. It's thermal insulated, spill resistant, customizable.

I've been posting about it in design subreddits and just getting completely bodied by people that don't like the idea

So every time I've wanted to drink tea in the bath, I've had a less than perfect experience.

A few times obviously the tea has spilled in the bath, which is often the worst possible situation. Then other times it's just annoying to have to place the mug carefully on the side of the bath or the floor or have a bath shelf (which I personally do not like at all).

A while ago I decided to see if I could solve the problem by making the mug itself float instead of relying on a tray. After a lot of prototyping, I finally got it working, and it's been surprisingly satisfying to use. It's insulated and spill resistant if you use a cap (which is a bit weird for hot tea, but to me is actually cozy feeling).

I thought some people here might appreciate the idea, so I wanted to share it. I made a video spoofing a classic infomercial.

Pool owners probably know this problem: you bring a drink outside, but there's never a great place to put it.

I spent the last couple years designing an insulated cup that floats upright instead of needing a floating tray.

I had this idea a year ago to make a cup that would float in water. Mostly because I am OCD and it would bother me when drinking tea in the bath, having to balance it on the edge of the tub.

I thought making a cup that floats upright would be relatively straightforward but it had a lot of unexpected design challenges, including:

• Buoyancy
• Center of gravity
• Stability
• Insulation
• Manufacturability
• Keeping the design looking like a normal premium tumbler instead of a novelty product
• Space for the user to hold it comfortably and drink comfortably

After many prototypes, I finally reached a version I'm proud enough to launch, which I opened preorders yesterday, but I'd love feedback from designers...

What details would you look at before moving from prototype into production?
