Bartenders tipping themselves on top of automatic gratuities at cowboys

Saw two of them do it. There is already an automatic gratuity on these heinously priced drinks but they were tipping themselves on top of it then handing the machine over to tap. Called them both out about it.

Pay attention while you’re paying so you don’t get scammed.

Looking for help with C or K names

We’re not sure what we are having and we are not due until November. We will find out gender at birth.

Our last name starts with a C and we are looking for a name that either starts with C or K or have a syllable that is a c or k.

My husbands last name is aristocratic from his parents home country and so hoping for a name that fits that. I don’t like the term old money but that’s essentially the vibe of the last name.

Some names we like are:
Clarke
Blake
Cooper
Connor
Brooks
Nicholas
Charlie
Calloway
Malcolm
Lachlan

Pregnant and company sold to a new company with a bad reputation

I am in a very niche industry, in a very niche role. My company was bought out and 8 weeks ago I started with a new employer who has a very bad reputation. The reputation is bad in how they treat their employees and how they operate their business.

8 weeks in and I’m seeing this clear as day. I’ve never had the Sunday scaries until now. The issue is I’m in my second trimester and job searching right now would be hard due to the niche and hard due to the pregnancy.

I have a small bump but it’s very easy to hide. I also have my own office, work from home 2d per week and many meetings are over zoom. I was planning not to tell them for a few more weeks. But there have been several behaviors from the new employer that make me uncomfortable and worried for my employment.

I am a high performer and was given an exceptional reference letter by my former employer. I also saved all of my performance reviews from my previous employer. Since I’ve started feeling uncomfortable I have also been taking very detailed notes on my performance and making sure to communicate with the founder and my senior manager in writing as much as possible.

It was mentioned to me that maybe I should let them know about my pregnancy sooner than later to add another layer of protection. The company does not have HR so I’d be talking to the founder who is very misogynistic and I wouldn’t even know how to approach the conversation. I’m also let down as it isn’t being shared in an exciting manner the way I would have hoped.

Marketplace has gotten out of control in this city

I use marketplace a lot and am expecting a baby this fall so have been using it to buy some used baby items. I don’t know if this is a Calgary thing but people are selling some items that have been well used for 90% of the original price despite being clearly dirty or that have damage visible in pictures. Marketplace used to be a great option as an online garage sale but people are posting things at such high prices and are getting so tough to deal with to pick up items you might as well just buy new.

I really, really don’t like it when customers call me by my first name.

We have to wear name tags every day and it really gives me the ick when customers call me by my first name like we’re old friends. This is especially true of the needy tables who call my name 47 times in a half hour, or the people who sit at the bar and ask questions about my personal life. Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not but I cannot be the only one.

My parents and in laws are acting like this is their news to share?

I am currently 12w after a loss last fall at 8.5w. When we told our parents around 7.5w last fall, both my parents and in laws told some friends and family without asking us. We hadn’t set any boundaries but I was so confused they didn’t think it was appropriate to wait until we were in the safe zone. It was torture after having the miscarriage since some of these friends and family members weren’t necessarily people we would have told about our loss and I didn’t Iike receiving “condolence” messages about something so personal from people were not that close with.

This time we waited until about 10 weeks to tell our families and made sure to mention that we didn’t want anyone else knowing until after our 12 weeks scan.

Last weekend I got a text from my aunt congratulating me. I immediately texted my mom who must have texted my auntie because then my aunt sent me a text how she had told my cousin but will now keep it to herself because “it’s my news to share”. Why wasn’t it my news to share with my cousin in the first place?

Our 12 week scan is tomorrow and my mother in law texted me today that she is so excited for the scan and she is patiently waiting for our green light afterwards to tell her (also my husbands) family.

I just don’t understand why boomers don’t get that perhaps myself and my husband are looking forward to telling our families ourselves about our news? This is the first grandbaby on both sides so I really do empathize they’re so excited but I just don’t see how they don’t seem to stop and consider that maybe we want to be the ones to share directly.

After the scan tomorrow I’m going to send a text to both moms with a list of people we would like to share the news with so we get a chance to but I’m frustrated we even have to do that.

Outfits and pieces for hiding pregnancy bump

I work in a business casual office and won’t be telling my employer I am pregnant until hopefully around 20 weeks. I am currently 11 weeks and definitely bloated but not showing yet. I’d like to start dressing differently as soon as possible and would love any ideas I can get from anyone here.

And a couple teams who haven’t made it to this stage in a very long time, younger teams with players who are actually playing like they want it. A good first round making for an exciting second round. I haven’t felt this excited about NHL playoffs for a while.

I was fully prepared for nausea, exhaustion, cravings, all of it… but not this. I am literally farting non stop???

last night I was sitting on the couch alone watching TV, and my husband walks in and goes “why does it smell like farts in here?” Sir?? You know why.

And today at work it was actually painful so I kept making up reasons to walk laps around the office so I didn’t turn my personal office into a straight up fart box

Everyone says pregnancy is beautiful and conveniently manages to leave this part out.
