Help find cars real value

A few days ago someone crashed their car into most of my family's cars. They came around our corner too fast and hit the front of our C30('08), bounced off into our XC60('12), and pushed that into our XC90('09 V8) that had its passenger door dented in. The only Volvo that survived was my S60R which was in another driveway.

Because of the age of the cars, of course the insurance companies want to total them out. The XC60 is the only one that really deserves it. We're trying to find the best course of action to prove the real world value of the other two.

The C30 is an R design 6 speed (adjuster listed it as an auto) with 75k on it and (was) in excellent condition. Clutch / master cylinder replaced about 10k miles ago, all new suspension within the past year. All its written up for is the bumper cover / grill and underlying parts, the radiator support (which looked fine to me on quick inspection but I know something could have been hidden), and hood. If I were to get the parts myself Id get a used grill and air guide, instead of the ones they're quoting at close to $400 a piece for.

First Legion, First wrap

Got my first ever gaming laptop about a week ago, with no real intent on serious gaming (So far just Stardew Expanded with my Girlfriend)

I decided to give it a little protection with a wrap, and while i didn't do a good job, it still looks pretty dang good to me. Luckily I have extras to try and improve.

They were also nice enough to take my request for the track pad, which is awesome!

However, I would not recommend it lol. While I love the appearance, the rough texture is not very comfortable to use. It took a few minutes to get used to, but might be acceptable to others too as a lot of people use mouse and key anyway. It detects movement just fine and I like the contrast, so i'm going to keep it on for a while.

Lockscreen/Banner Icon

So I accidentally upgraded my OP12R to 16 when the notification popped up

Not thrilled but it is what it is

Ever since, my weather app(Breezy) still uses its default icon in the lockscreen and banner

My Arcticons icons are applied everywhere else - even in Breezy itself

I can't tell if this is a OP issue or a Breezy compatibility issue, any ideas?

OS update question

OP 12R US version still on OOS15

I've been reading a lot of older posts about the 16.+ updates and them tripping a fuse that stops rollbacks ect.

Is that still the case / does this stop you from flashing a custom ROM down the road?

Magic Earth AUTO is now in beta on Android Automotive and we are looking for feedback from Volvo AAOS drivers

Hello r/Volvo, we are Magic Lane, the team behind Magic Earth. After a lot of head-unit testing we've shipped a beta of Magic Earth AUTO and we'd love feedback from people who actually drive these cars every day.

Why we built this for AAOS

AAOS owners have been waiting for a solid navigation alternative. Most options still lean on phone projection or rely entirely on connectivity. We built Magic Earth AUTO specifically for your infotainment system, running natively on the hardware. Not retrofitted from a phone.

Here's what that means in practice:

  • Works fully offline. Download maps for 200+ countries and navigate anywhere: tunnels, mountain passes, remote regions, underground car parks. No connectivity? No problem. Turn-by-turn works the same. When you're connected, live traffic and speed camera alerts layer on top automatically.
  • Hands-free voice control. "Navigate to Paris." "Avoid toll roads." "Add a stop." "Report a hazard ahead." Your car's voice assistant talks directly to Magic Earth AUTO through the standard AAOS intent framework. Hands stay on the wheel, eyes on the road.
  • Purpose-built for your Volvo car's display. Full-screen, automotive-optimised map rendering. Smooth 3D perspective, lane-level guidance, junction view for complex intersections, automatic day/night switching. This is designed for driving, not projected from your phone.
  • Privacy by default. No tracking. No location data transmitted to anyone. Core navigation runs locally on your car. GDPR-compliant from the ground up, because how you drive is nobody else's business.

What early access members get

  • A free Magic Earth AUTO license for as long as you're part of the beta community
  • Direct line to the team building the product. Your feedback shapes the roadmap
  • First access to new features before wider release
  • A say in how privacy-first navigation evolves

Supported cars (AAOS / Google built-in)

Not sure if your car qualifies? If you can already install apps directly from the Play Store on your head unit, you're in.

What we're testing

We want feedback on:

  • Real-world routing accuracy on your daily commute
  • Head-unit UX (touch targets, glance-ability, how it feels while driving)
  • Bugs, crashes, weird edge cases, screenshots and videos welcome
  • Offline performance, map quality, whether you hit any dead zones

How to join

Send us a mail at betatesting@magicearth.com . Include your car model and AAOS version if you can find it. We'll get back to you with access details. Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Quik + SpamBlocker

Is it safe to use the Spam Blocker fork of Quik that integrates it directly into the sms settings? I can't seem to add the repo into F droid

Company needs a stronger community presence

It would be nice if the company had a presence here

Other companies and developers I use do it, and it seems mostly helpful

(USMobile, Stremio (and their counterparts), Projectivy..

Come address the issues. Its Reddit, they're going to get a lashing, but it would sure give me and probably some others that are willing to ride out initial problems some reassurance

First project questions

Hey there, Im looking to replace my outdated tv backlights I got years ago from SuperBrightLED. Theyve lasted a long time, but theyre outdated and the supporting app has always been terrible - and is now no longer supported.

TV section:

Im planning on using this Gledopto controller to run these SK6812 as backlights behind my 65 inch TV thats on a large stand from output 1 (~13ft). Using these as connectors.

The wiki page suggests injecting power from both ends, but ive seen here plenty of people dont feel the need to. Im curious to see if I were to use one of those T connectors in the set above, and created a rectangular loop (removing the data pin from the back end), would that technically add power to both ends?

A 12 inch strip in the shelf under it, wired to another 12 inch strip in the small cabinet beneath that. I should be around 14-15 feet in total. Ethernet hookup is right there as well. see here

Those leds say theyre 90w, but I assume thats at full power which id never be running them at. So would this power supply work? any other suggestions welcomed.

Im also interested in adding IR control to the the system so I can use my remote (SofaBaton) instead of having to open the app every time. I see when building them from scratch theres generally two small and cheap IR chips that are used. Im wondering, for a cleaner look, can I use one of these IR receivers by cutting the end off and wiring it into the IO13 ports? (turning on that setting in WLED, and downloading a remote profile to my remote and customizing buttons/macros)

Corner Lamp

In the other corner im planning on replacing my standard led bulbs in this lamp, which has two sockets inside with two small cylindrical towers I saw here. maybe a meter in total?

I was originally going to use these for simplicity. I like the USB input option. I would only be able to link them in with the TV setup for control in the app, not individually or with IR so I think Ive switched to these mini ones instead which should allow for two separate strips as well as an IR receiver. Looking for the smallest power supply option for these that would be as close to a wall charger with cable.

Shelf and Wall decor

On the other side of the room ill be lighting up these under counter shelves with about 1 meter of the same leds and mini controller setup on one output. Currently lit with a cheap strip from an old amazon lamp. Adding an additional strand of these fairy lights behind the outer circle of this metal art on the second output. That should be around a 7.5 ft circumference. Could this be powered by the same thing as the lamp, to minimize the different items in my setup and order?
