In the year 2023 , a very amazing online game was released, and within only a few months, it had gained a following of millions and had half a million players online by the daily. The name of the game was NXMESIS ONLINE.

This game was an online role playing game. There was a total of ten initial types of character to choose from, each with a male and female character skin, and dozens more to be found just beyond a paywall.

The player would have to try and complete the game with their chosen character because, once a character is chosen , you cannot change it until you either die In-game or you complete the game.

The main objective of the game was for the player to get the character strong enough to enter a magic academy.

Once in said academy, they must gain allies that will aid them in repelling the invasion of the 7 demon gods that will occur a month after they graduate their fourth year.

Of course, there are many events that take place in game in-between entering the academy and fighting the demon gods. These events are to prepare the player and strengthen not only the character, but their allies as well.

However despite this, even 2 years after the game's initial release, there has still not been anyone who has defeated a single demon god, and because of their high difficulty, many players quit one year in.

By the year 2025, the player base that was once in the tens of millions at its peak, dwindled down to merely a few thousand. These diehard fans made it their duty to complete the game and get it it's popularity back.

To that end they have created a forum where they share information about the game. Information such as hidden bosses and how to beat them, how to find hidden items, how to attain certain characters, how to escape and evade certain traps etc.

Due to the forum, and the wealth of knowledge it contained , many former players decided to give the game another go.

With the help of others, the diehards where able to come up with multiple stratagems to deal with each demon god, and after one insane free to play player finally defeated one of the demon gods, many more players decided to return to the game.

After toiling for months, some of the diehards were able to defeat all of the demon gods, proving their stratagems worked , only to be met with an even greater threat that made the demon gods look tame in comparison.

After that , even the diehards gave up on the game, and it's user base dwindled all the way down to basically nothing.

Only one insane player dared remain. One who refused to purchase in game items and characters , because he thought they were a waste of his money. He kept trying,again and again, but came no closer to success than on his first attempt. But he wouldn't give up. He had something to prove.

This was non other than Akira Nakamura, a mere 15 year old highschool student. And this will most likely be a story about him and his struggle survive in this Isekai , but who can say.

Chapter 1

Akira's POV

My name is Akira Nakamura. I'm just your average highschool student. Well, besides my obsession with NXMESIS ONLINE, I'd say I'm a pretty normal guy.

I hang out with my friends on the weekends, I study regularly, meaning my grades are on point, I help out at the local soup kitchen every once in a while and I work part time at a convenience store.

It might seem like a lot , but I manage it pretty well. Plus, I have to be able to manage at least that much , seeing as I don't really have much of a choice for the most part.

My grades have to be excellent, because they are the only way I can maintain my scholarship at the illustrious , and very snobby, private highschool I attend, DRITEN PRIVATE HIGH. I need a part time job to pay for rent and other necessities.

I also need the soup kitchen gig because they sometimes give me leftovers, and those leftovers really help stretch my already meager pay just a little bit further because I don't have to pay for food.

I've been alone most of my life, so I didn't really have anyone I could rely on to nurture me and raise me. Since I have no parents or guardian, I have had to fend for myself most of my life.

Growing up in such an environment with such circumstances, I had to do whatever I could to get by. And eventually, I managed to get a scholarship to DRITEN with my middle school results, even though I had only attended the third year.

After a while, all of it became second nature to me, and somehow, I manage to juggle everything decently. But like I said, I have to be able to handle at least that much.

When it does get to be too much for me however, that is when I fall back on my stress relief, my favorite RPG, NXMESIS.

A friend of mine invited me over to his house one day, and I found him playing a newly released rpg that was hot on the streets back then. I gave it a try for myself, and long story short, I became a fan pretty quickly.

I've been playing the game casually for the past two years , and I have to say, it is a very amazing game.

It's a game that is set in the world of Rodania , on the continent of Gaarahn. The game takes place in a world that is like our own modern world, but with magic.

Not only are the character designs amazing, but the gameplay, sound design, graphics as well as the story were very well done. You don't find many games that tick all those boxes nowadays.

I could keep going on and on about this Ii game, but I have to make it to school on time. The snobs at that place are very strict about being on time, not to mention the fact that I have a test in the first period.

NARRATOR'S POV

Akira Nakamura is one of the top students in his year, so had he been from a normal household and had a normal background, he would have been able to get away with being as late as he wanted.

However, him being poor and not having much of a background to speak of , made his life at the school basically a living hell.

Driten Private High was a very expensive preparatory school that was only attended by the children of the rich and powerful.

Having this school as an alma mater could put you on the map not only for good colleges but also great companies looking to hire.

But , that doesn't really matter to most of the students of this school, as the vast majority of them already have places waiting for them in their parents' companies, so they really do not care much for that privilege.

This would only be enticing to people of humbler background, such as Akira and the rest of the scholarship students, or , how they are referred to as in the school, special students.

The school came under public fire a few years prior because of their policy of only accepting the children of the ultra rich, so the headmaster at the time , made a rule that stated that if a student is able to score exceedingly well on their middle school final exams, they would be granted a scholarship by the school.

As of this year, it has been 6 years since the rule has been created, and there are a total of 23 scholarship students in the whole school.

That is the lowest number since the rule was established, because word got out that the scholarship students faced discrimination and were being bullied mercilessly by the spoiled rich kids.

And the worst part of it all was that they could do nothing about it, because the children at that school all had the backing of whatever powerful family sent them there.

So most of the scholarship students quit school and prospective scholarship students thought it best to stay away from that hellhole of a school.

Akira began to sprint, for he could not be late , even though he is one of the top students.

If he were to ever be late , he would receive a demerit , which is basically a stain on your permanent record.

Receive 4 in a row and you could face not just expulsion, but public humiliation as well, because those demerits appear whenever your name is searched, causing companies and colleges to hesitate when hiring or accepting you.

This however, wasn't much of a problem for the rich , as they could just pay a certain amount to get rid of a demerit on their children's records.

Because of that, these children could misbehave and do crazy things without facing any actual consequences because of their rich parents.

Akira made it to the school with 20 minutes to spare. He did a little victory punch in the air for not being late , before walking to his homeroom.

Before he even sets foot in the classroom, he could hear the racket that was being made by the rest of his class.

(Those god-damned uppity rich brats) Akira thought to himself. (It's way too early in the morning for this bull. I'd be surprised if they could actually just shut up for a few seconds.)

Akira took a deep breath and let out a long , exasperated sigh as he took the handle if the door.

He swings the door open, and with his head down, he enters the class, closes the door and makes a B - line for his desk at the back of the class.

In a school like this , it was best not to draw too much attention to yourself if you were a special student, meaning, don't make eye contact.

Upon reaching his desk, he lays his bookbag next to it and grabs his notebook before taking his seat. He had some last minute studying to do for the test.

Gary Drayton POV

My name is Garrison Drayton. I'm the son of one of the richest people in the city, and my dad owns multiple buildings in the city.

Oh, by buildings, I don't mean apartments or anything that trite , I'm talking penthouses, 50 story skyscrapers and the likes.

All my life, I've wanted for nothing, so I never really had to do a lot to get what I wanted.

Even here, at this so-called elite school, all I have to is mention my father's name and even the teachers do whatever I want.

There are only a few people at this school who match my status even few who actually surpass it.

So I'm effectively one of the ten most influential people in this whole school and whatever I say goes.

That obviously means I'm the most noteworthy person in my class , with only a few others being of any note.

Starting with our class president, Ashley Hails , granddaughter of the head of the Hails conglomerate, and the most likely to be voted student council president next year.

Not to mention the fact that she is one of the better looking girls in the whole school, meaning she has many prospective suitors trying to woo her.

She is exceedingly kind to boot, even to a nothing like the special student in our class, Akira. She is too good to be wasting her time on trash like him.

And I'm not the only person who thinks this. Ashley's entire inner circle, a group of well-bred young ladies, have been telling her to stay clear of the worm.

Moving on , we have the oddball of our class, Lucius Yung. He is the son of a very influence congresswomen, and is basically the class clown of the bunch.

Another notable presence in the class would be the stick in the mud Hector Escobar , the son of the head of a very large corporation that was one of the founders of the school.

That guy has no sense of humor whatsoever. He says us having our fun with the special kids is misusing our power. Such a blowhard.

Last would Mia Alexandra, an exchange student from Russia. She is the daughter of a Russian billionaire, and is basically a loner who sticks to herself.

She is notable because among all the exchange students at this school, she is the most beautiful, and even compared to Ashley, she doesn't lose out at all.

Her body is amazing too. She has received many marriage proposals from the children of very important people, but she turned them all down without a second thought.

Because she seems so unattainable, she is the most desirable girl, especially to people like us, who want everything we can't have.

Others that are not so notable but still somewhat important would be Sasha Daily, the daughter of a politician, as well my fiance.

Yuno ONiel is the son of the headmaster of the school, so he is well respected. He has many subordinates in every class, even the upperclassmen show him respect.

Tristan Edgar, daughter of the A list actress June Edgar. She is quite the eccentric, even compared to the others in our school.

Hailey and James Phoenix, two identical twins, who are the children of a businessman who owns a lot of grocery stores in the area.

The reason they stick out is not because of their riches or anything like that, but their unusual hair color. They both have two tone hair. There isn't much else of note about them other than that though

The rest of the class is insignificant in my eyes. Especially that walking scum, Akira. I heard his parents were refugees who died during the purge a few years ago. Why would they let such a good for nothing beggar trash study at our school. People like him shouldn’t be here… it messes up the order.

NARRATOR'S POV

The class's homeroom teacher , Mr Joshua King , was a the younger brother of a very well known diplomat.

He was as stuck up and snobby as they come, meaning he also contributed to the discrimination at the school, thinking he's a superior being.

The moment he entered the class, he plugged his nose in disgust as he looked at Akira. "Of course the beggar trash had to show up. Some students should remember that hygiene is part of discipline."

"Anyways, put away your books and prepare to take the test." He said as he placed the test papers on his desk. He looked around the class before smiling.

It seemed as though he was about to say something else, but before he could, the entire room lit up, and before any of them could do anything about it, they began to disappear one by one.

To the outside observer, It happened within an instant. The entire class had simply disappeared. Here one moment and gone the next.

Suddenly, a massive explosion targeting class 1 B rocked the entire school, followed up by three more explosion in the hallways.

This sent the entire school in a frenzy, as the students as well as the staff began to evacuate the school.

It was a day none would forget. The day 32 people died a supposed terrorist bombing. However, there was not even a single body recovered, so many parents were still holding out hope.

The World of wishes. It is a world that was created by the God of wishes and dreams, Almancino. The world was a vast expanse of nothingness, pure white as far as the eye could see.

The world has a very eerie feel to it. Should you stay here for too long, you might go insane because of the sheer nothing that extended infinitely in all directions. It is here that summoned heroes would be granted abilities.

Floating amidst the infinite void, the children began to regain consciousness one by one. None of them knew where they were or what happened to them.

Not knowing what else to do, the children all began to cry out for help, and as no answer came back, they only became more frantic in their shouting, with some even calling out to their parents. Panic began to spread amongst the group.

Akira looked around and saw nothing but pure white. Absolutely no color to be seen for miles. He had to get his wits about him, because his mind also began to panic.

"Well, were definitely not in Lutra anymore, I can say at least that much." Akira said to himself as he floated around.

A few more students from the school showed up. It was around 10 more. They were still out cold, just as he had been not too long ago.

It seemed no one else noticed these new additions to the group other than Akira though, so he decided to go figure that part out later.

What he wanted to figure out now was where he was and how they all got here. He was also curious about what this place was.He felt the panic rising… and forced it down. He had to remain calm

The void he was in felt weird. It felt as though he were floating but at the same time, he felt as though there was pressure pushing down on his body from all directions.

It was also weird how he could breathe here, so he decided to test it out by taking a breath. However, his lungs felt as though they were made of iron, and no air traveled through his nose. He could not draw breath here.

(Okay , so I'm basically in pressurized nothingness and I can't breathe. But how does sound travel if there's no air. Am I in a liquid of some sort? That would explain why I can't breathe and why I feel like I'm floating. It also explain how sound can travel. But how am I still alive if that's the case. What else can I figure out here. )

As he was stuck in his train of thought, floating aimlessly , He accidentally bumps into someone who has their back to him.

Of all the people, he just had to bump into Gary Drayton, the person who hated him the most in the entire class.

Gary turns around only to find Alex. His face took on a disgusted expression as he looked down his nose at Alex.

Even here, Akira thought, not even knowing where they are or how they got there, he still
