Not Quite Anti

Hello fellow Gym skeptics. I have created a new community a bit similar to this one, but it's more for people who DO go to the gym or try to go / and hate it and hate exercise in general. But we do it ANYAWY - https://www.reddit.com/r/IHateTheGym/ because we want to take care of ourselves. This is for those of you who have gym anxiety, or feel like you don't belong in the gym, feel like you are behind, gym newbies, neurospicy people who are trying to get into it etc.

It's a supportive space without the fake hype, a community where we can try to make this work for us, and make the space more comfortable without having to become the "Gym people" with that "gym lifestyle" that we hate.

If you're interested and this resonates consider joining my community, I need accountabilibuddies and would love to connect with others like me.

Every month in LA, five writers get their scripts cold read on stage by actors they met twenty minutes earlier

No rehearsal. No safety net. Five scripts, actors cast on the spot, performed live the same night in front of a real audience.

That's Script Shuffle. We've been running it monthly in LA for four years.

Why it works: you can sit with a script for months and still not know if it lands. Ten minutes of hearing an actor say your words out loud in front of strangers tells you everything. What's funny. What's flabby. Where the room leans in and where it checks out. It is brutal and it is the fastest note you will ever get.

How it actually runs: writers submit ahead of time and five get picked. On the night, we do a speed-date style shuffle where writers meet the actors in the room and cast their own pages. Then it goes up. Audience reacts in real time, feedback after.

Who shows up: playwrights, screenwriters, actors looking for stage time and material, and people who just like watching things get made badly and beautifully in public.

We run it under Fake ID Productions. Submissions open monthly and we post the call here first. Come watch, come write, come be part of it.

My salary was just cut in half. Looking for advice on how to navigate this pivot.

Hey everyone, I’m going through some unexpected professional restructuring and just found out my salary is being cut in 50%. Honestly, I went down a bit of a depressing rabbit hole the first few hours, but I’m trying to shift my energy into active problem-solving now.

I’m currently mapping out my finances, looking at cutting unnecessary subscriptions, and brainstorming ways to bridge the gap... like increasing dog-sitting services and looking for new job opportunities in SoCal.

I documented what happened and immediately after the news, my raw, immediate process of handling this shock and figuring out a game plan in this video: https://youtu.be/T0zObMxsufE?si=0KyzRMGNEXBiZsvd

If anyone has navigated a sudden financial drop like this, or has specific advice on navigating the current job market in Southern California (especially tips for leveraging AI or networking efficiently), I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Great interior Sci-Fi sets in SoCal?

Hello! I’m shooting a Sci-Fi and I’m looking for great practical sets.
I’ve already got Rheelghost studios on my list, although after they moved it looks like they only replaced their cantina and not the rest of their awesome stuff 😭

I’m looking for retro futuristic, fun, clean, funky, Star Trek / barbarella and less masculine/dirty/grey.
But I’ll take any suggestions! Lots we can do with PD and lighting ✨

Thank yewwww 💖
