Indiana had 100-1 preseason odds to win the national championship last year. Which team with similar odds is the best chance to do it this year?

Indiana had 100-1 odds (+10,000) to win the natty this time last year before they went on their historic run. Here are the teams that have similar odds to Indiana for this year:

Auburn: 80-1

BYU: 90-1

SMU: 100-1

Mizzou: 100-1

Utah: 110-1

South Carolina: 120-1

Washington: 120-1

Louisville: 120-1

Obviously it’s really hard to say because I really can’t imagine any team going on a run like Indiana did, but probably no one imagined that last year.

SMU has made a 12-team playoff, similar to Indiana did prior to their run and the ACC does provide a wide open path to the playoffs. BYU is also another good choice because Texas Tech should be the only formidable opponent again in the Big 12 to get to the playoff and they were close last year.

How Auburn has better odds that both of those teams is beyond me lol.

But I’d say SMU and BYU would be my two picks. And if I had to pick between the two, I’d say BYU. I’m high on Bachmeier and think he’s going to have a great follow up year and should hook up well with Lyons from USC and Kasper from Oregon.

Bloomberg is reporting that Mark Walter, owner of Cadillac, has been in talks with investors to pay down loans he being investigated for. That’s why he sold the Lakers for $12.5B, in a deal that came together in just 72 hours, less than two years after he purchased the team

Upgrading BE to get Miles

So my work paid for a flight and I usually add my AA Advantage number in. For some reason, they booked it BE. I guess if my schedule changes, they don't mind paying, but is there any way I can purchase a seat upgrade or something so I get miles for the flight?

(SA Observer) ‘If You Pay Twice, Vote Twice’: Mayor Turns to Spurs Arena Funding to Address $158 Million Budget Gap

>The planned $1.3 billion arena is a central component of Project Marvel, the proposed sports and entertainment district near Hemisfair. The venue is expected to begin hosting the Spurs around 2030.

Bexar County voters narrowly approved Proposition B in November 2025, authorizing up to $311 million in hotel occupancy and rental car tax revenue for the arena. The city has committed another $489 million, while Spurs Sports & Entertainment would contribute at least $500 million and cover construction cost overruns.

The county vote did not directly authorize the city’s contribution. City officials have maintained that a separate election was not legally required, although council members tied the city’s participation to approval of the county proposition.

Jones said San Antonio residents deserve another opportunity to vote because they contribute to both city and county revenue. “City voters will pay twice towards the proposed arena, as they will contribute to the county’s $311 million contribution and the city’s $489 million contribution,” Jones wrote. “Since they pay twice, city voters deserve to vote twice.”

>Jones has also raised questions about what residents would receive in exchange for the investment. The preliminary agreement includes $75 million in community benefits, equivalent to $2.5 million annually for 30 years. Jones has additionally pushed for a revenue-sharing arrangement, although Spurs representatives have reportedly resisted that proposal.

Andrew Miller landed in Cleveland 10 years ago today. I think it's time they make a big swing again at the deadline, but I'm not holding my breath.

Cavs TV/Streaming Options for 2026

Has anyone heard or know of any updates about how the NBA and Cavs are going to air games this season?

I haven’t seen anything yet. I don’t live in the Cleveland market (in Columbus) so I really hope that the NBA does what the MLB did and offer standalone teams in LeaguePass. I pay $100 for GuardsTV and I feel I’m pretty happy with it.

Jackets TV/Streaming Options for 2026

Has anyone heard or know of any updates about how the NHL or Jackets are going to be aired this year?

I can’t find anything, including rumors, of how the Jackets and the NHL are going to handle this with FDSN officially done.

Obviously the biggest option would be for 10TV or the CW or something to pick up and show every game OTA, but I also would love it if the NHL could do what MLB does and offer your team package in-market. I pay $100 for Guards.TV and it’s pretty good overall.

Environment of Reserved Seating for Football Tickets

Hi everyone,

I'm a first-year graduate student, and I didn't attend OSU as an undergrad. I applied for the graduate seating for my wife, and instead we got the reserved section. I've been to games before, and if IIRC, the reserved seating is where everyone still stands the entire time and stands wherever.

We are a bit older, and there's absolutely no way we can physically stand for 3 hours. Is that how the section usually operates, or am I misremembering that? Any chance the ticket office could move us to a place where everyone sits?

Collin Holderman is having a career year at age 30 and is one of the best relievers in baseball.

The Guardians signed Holderman to a 1-year $1.5M deal this offseason after he spent the last 4 years with Pittsburgh and the Mets. He was originally drafted by the Mets out of Community College in 2016 and spent 6 years in the minors before he made his major league debut at 26 in 2022.

He was a solid reliever for Pittsburgh, but had a terrible 2025 with a 7.01 ERA after posting ERAs in the 3s the prior years.

This year, through 29 innings, he has a 1.55 ERA, a 37 ERA-, a BAA of .131, and a 10.24 K/9, while giving up only 1 HR and 13 hits total. Here are his ranks among qualified relievers:

ERA: 9th

ERA-: 9th

BAA: 3rd

Hits: T-1st

fWAR: T-30th

Also, he has an absolute GOAT name for an MLB relief pitcher! He's really been holding batters to poor statistics this season.

Despite only having 152 PA, Travis Bazzana is already 3rd in fWAR on the team

Needless to say, Bazzana is already one of the best players on the team. Here’s his rankings among Guardians hitters’ with at least 50 PAs this season.

fWAR: 3rd - trailing JRam and Roochio

wRC+: 1st

BsR: 2nd

BA: 2nd

wOBA: 1st

OPS: 1st

He’s easily the 2nd best player on this team already behind Jose.

Central Ohio's Largest Cities, Fastest Growing, and Losing Population

The Vintage 2025 city data was released yesterday for the July 2024 to July 2025 timeframe. When the Census updates the Vintage numbers, they also recalculate all prior years up to the last Census year. So this gives us a picture of population changes from 2020 to 2025. I am going to focus mainly on the last five years, rather than on the one-year change from 2024 to 2025. My definition of Central Ohio is the Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area, which comprises Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, Union, Hocking, Morrow, and Perry counties. The Columbus Partnership also classifies Logan and Knox counties, but I wanted to keep it consistent with the Census definition.

Top 15 in Growth 2020-2025 (Numeric)

City Population Growth Current Population
Columbus 31,721 938,396
Delaware 4,952 46,636

13 Pickerington 26,333 13
14 Whitehall 19,805 14
15 Pataskala 18,529 15

I like including the percentage change table because it shows where the next big growth spurt is starting to form. Union County is certainly seeing that early burst in growth, not just in Marysville, but in the little towns surrounding it. Delaware and the cities around it keep exploding. South and South Eastern Franklin County/Northern Pickaway are starting to heat up, while northern suburbs like Worthington, Westerville, Dublin, and Upper Arlington are cooling off, except for Hilliard. Any other thoughts here?
