It’s My 19th Birthday Today.

I’ve been a guy who grew up with almost nothing.

There was a time when buying something meant checking the price three or four times before even thinking about it. Going out with people wasn’t about whether I wanted to, it was about whether I could afford to. Most of the friends I had came from families that were much better off. Slowly, I stopped getting invited. Not because they were bad people, but because I simply couldn’t keep up.

Things changed last year.
I started earning my own money. At 19, I can finally buy whatever I want without looking at the price tag, and I couldn’t be more proud of that. Every rupee I spend reminds me how far I’ve come from the kid who counted coins before leaving home.

But success has a strange silence to it when you’ve always walked alone.

Today is my birthday.

No plans. No calls. No messages waiting. Just another day.

I don’t want sympathy. I’m genuinely grateful for everything I’ve achieved. If anything, I’m proud of myself.

It’s just… I’ve always been a lone soul.

I used to think the reason I was alone was because I was broke. Now I’m not, and somehow the silence sounds exactly the same.
Maybe that’s why they say,
“Money can change your lifestyle, but it can’t rewrite your story overnight.”

Anyway.
Here’s to 19.
Still building. Still grateful. Still walking alone, but at least this time, it’s on a road I built myself.

Anyone joining MSIT B.Tech this year?

Hey! I’ll most likely be joining MSIT this year for B.Tech and was wondering if anyone else here is joining too.

Would be nice to connect before college starts, maybe make a few friends, discuss branches, classes, commute, or just survive the next four years together?

Can I get the Amex Platinum Reserve without an ITR? Freelancer, ~₹2.2L/month, 772 CIBIL, only bank statements

I’m a freelancer looking to apply for an Amex card. From what I can see, SmartEarn and MRCC aren’t open for new applications right now, they’re not letting people apply for those, so the Platinum Reserve seems to be the only viable option left. If I’m wrong about that, please correct me.

My income is roughly ₹1.8L to ₹2.5L per month, averaging around ₹2.2L. The catch is I don’t have an ITR filed yet. I do have bank statements showing consistent monthly credits that I can provide if they ask.

For context on my credit profile: my CIBIL score is 772, though my credit history is still fairly new, around 3-5 months old. I currently hold two cards, an FD-backed secured card and a Slice unsecured card with a ₹50K limit. No missed payments so far.
My main questions:

How strict is Amex about the ITR specifically? Has anyone been approved as self-employed on the Platinum Reserve using bank statements instead of an ITR, or is it a hard requirement?

Given a thin credit file but decent income and score, is the Reserve realistic to get approved for, or should I build more history first?

19M | 772 CIBIL | ₹1.5–2L/month income | Which credit card should I apply for next?

I'm 19 years old with a 772 CIBIL score. My monthly income is around ₹1.5–2 lakh, which has been consistent for a little over a year, with all payments credited to my bank account. I'm self-employed/freelancing.

Currently, I have two credit cards:

Slice – ₹50,000 unsecured limit

SuperMoney – ₹5,000 secured card

I don't have any loans or EMIs, and I always pay my credit card bills in full before the due date.

My monthly card spend is usually around ₹20–25k, mostly on food delivery, dining, subscriptions, and other day-to-day expenses. Every few months, I also make larger online purchases (often ₹50k+) on Amazon and other e-commerce sites for electronics, accessories, and other random purchases.

I don't have a strong preference between cashback and reward points as long as the overall value is good. Lounge access would be nice but isn't a priority.

Given my profile, what cards do you think I realistically qualify for? Should I aim for cards like HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis, or Amex, or should I build more history first? I'd also appreciate suggestions on which applications are most likely to be approved.

Anyone else tired of feeling like they have no one to text?

Hey. I don’t really have many people to talk to, and I guess I’m just hoping to change that.

I’m from around the Alipore area. I’m a pretty introverted person, so I usually don’t know how to start conversations. But once I get comfortable, I can spend hours talking about games, music, random memes, technology, psychology, philosophy, science, or just ranting about whatever life decides to throw at us that day.

How’s life been lately?
How’s school, college, work, or whatever you’re doing these days?
What’s been on your mind recently?
What’s something that’s been bothering you that you wish you could just vent about?

Maybe the people we’re looking for are out there, scrolling past this post, wondering if they should say hello too.

Need help deciding on my first digital piano (Beginner)

Hey people!

I'm looking to buy my first digital piano, and honestly, I don't know much about pianos yet, so please go easy on me if I say something stupid. 😅 I'm trying to learn before spending my money.

My options are:

  1. Yamaha P125 (Used, ~3 years old) – $316 (₹30,000)

- Includes the original wooden stand.

  1. Yamaha P145 (Used, ~1 year old) – $337 (₹32,000)

- Seller says it's in excellent condition.

- No scratches, never opened or repaired.

- Sustain pedal is basically unused.

- He's trying to find the original invoice from the shop.

  1. Yamaha P45 (Brand New) – $421 (₹39,999)

- 3-year warranty.

  1. Yamaha P145 (Brand New) – $483 (₹45,850)

- 2-year warranty.

A bit about me:

- Complete beginner.

- I want to learn piano properly, not just mess around.

- If I enjoy it, I'll probably keep it for many years.

- But at the same time, if I somehow lose interest, buying used means I won't lose as much money.

My biggest concern with used is that I have no idea how to judge a piano's condition beyond checking that all the keys, speakers, and sustain pedal work. I don't know what worn keys or subtle problems feel like.

So if you were in my position, what would you buy and why?

Would you:

- Go for the 3-year-old P125 because it's the best value?

- Pick the 1-year-old P145 because it's newer?

- Or just spend more and buy a brand-new P45 or P145 for the warranty and peace of mind?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have actually owned or played these models. Thanks! 🎹

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a Logitech G29 in good second-hand condition from anyone here who’s thinking of selling theirs.

Mainly looking for the wheel + pedals. If you also have the shifter and want to sell it together, that would be great, but it’s not necessary since I can always get the shifter later.

Preferably looking for something lightly used and well maintained rather than a heavily used older unit. Good condition and proper working order are the main priorities.

I’m based in Kolkata, so local deals would be easiest, but I’m also open to buying from anywhere else in India if shipping can be arranged safely.

If you’re planning to sell yours, feel free to DM me with:

Condition

Age / usage

Accessories included

Expected price

Location

Thanks!
