I guess it wasn't the tire.
Slow leaks are not always from a puncture. Check the bead seal and the valve stem.
CS: I have to use my e-brake to stop.
There had to be a puddle wherever this car was sitting. Blown out brake hose.
I always hear about the CVT transmissions. What else is going on?
Is Nissan’s bad reputation mostly about the CVT, or are there other common problems people don’t talk about as much?
Kia has come a long way over the years.
Kia has come a long way, but some of the engine issues from certain years still make me nervous. Would you buy a used Kia, or is it too risky? I'm looking at a 2020 Kia Soul with 86,000 miles for my new driver niece.
GM V8 AFM delete and emissions tampering
I have been requested to do many of these deletes whether the client wanted just a plug-in device, the vehicle "tuned" and/or the camshaft and lifters replaced with non-AFM parts.
This all technically changes the emissions standards of the vehicle especially if the ECM is reprogrammed and the non-AFM parts are installed. I just did a super quick google search on the possibilities, but has anyone end up in a bd situation after "tampering" with any of these vehicles?
The vehicle will pass an emissions inspection, but the calibration ID in the ECU does change.
I’ve been reading up on the 2.0 EcoBoost coolant intrusion issue, especially in vehicles like the Escape and Edge, and I’m curious how common it actually is among owners here. I worked on three of these last year and I have another in the shop today.
From what I understand, it can leak internally and cause symptoms like coolant loss, rough running and white smoke on cold starts. When I see those symptoms on the repair order, I walk straight to the car with a borescope and spark plug tools.
That seems like a tough one to catch early and even if you do, the technical service bulletin instructs engine replacement.
What are your thoughts?
Torque-converter shudder on Sierra 8L90 transmission have a typical repair range of $300 to $2,800 is what I’m hearing. That is a huge spread for something a seller is describing as “just needs a fluid service.”
The problem is that the transmission shudder can feel vague at first and gets worse. It feels like driving over rumble strips.
If you were test-driving a used GM truck and felt a light shudder at cruising speed, would you negotiate more or walk away?
The work order says Chevrolet Malibu. I pull out the key and look at the key thinking did someone put a Honda key in this sleeve? I hit unlock and a Malibu honks and lights up and my brain goes what? Of course a fob is just a fob but this gave my brain indigestion for a second.
Apparently the battery died one day and someone hooked up the jumper cables backwards. A new battery was installed and they noticed the alternator was not charging. New alternator, new alternator, new shop, new alternator and now here.
