Ayla's Big Adventure

Ayla had her very first walk in the park today! She is a five month old corgi-shepherd mix (we think), and today was the first of what we hope will be many adventures in the great outdoors! This is Northwest Park in CT, a very dog friendly park with lots of trails we hope to explore soon. Ayla certainly loved it, and even made a new friend, a six year old Chihuahua named Tessa!

My dog is convinced she's a cat, and I'm starting to think she's right

As a cat dad I am quite used to bathroom supervisors. Did not expect it from the pup. Is it common? She's just a little thing, cannot imagine a big dog constantly battering at the door while Im in there.

Ayla met her vet today!

Little Ayla had her first vet visit since we adopted her! The rescue had given her shots, spay, etc, but this was her first time with us. She was a Very Good Girl and made friends with the whole staff. No complaints about shots or thermometers even! It might have helped that she got easy cheeze- TWICE!

Once again we just can't believe our luck. I keep feeling like we wound up with the cutest, best-behaved cuddlebug there ever was. We also can't believe how much she has grown, from just under 8 pounds to well over 10 in just 3 weeks! Noticeably taller as well. We aren't 100% sure her breed except that she's mixed, so no idea what her final form is gonna be, but we're in no hurry to find out. Its been amazing to have her here and we are loving every day!

Took my dog to the vet and was checked in by a cat. This is Damien!

Damien works at the desk checking in clients. His human assistant does the typing, he doesn't have time for everything after all. The tail you see is all the tail he has, because that's all he needs, and his ears are too small to hear your complaints. Very friendly, very excellent service!

I think my dog thinks she's a cat

Ayla prefers cat toys and cat beds over her own, even cat food though we dont let her have it. She also thinks the cats are the most interesting thing in the house. She's just a puppy still, maybe it's a phase?

I mostly get bumbles and sweats, first time I've seen one of these. Is it a honeybee?

Early in the season my wife saved a lonely zinnia from the discount rack. Today it paid an unexpected dividend!

One week with Ayla

Last week I posted about adopting my first ever pup, Ayla. She is 15 weeks now, we think shes a corgi shepherd mix. Thanks so much to everyone for all the love you gave her! It's been a whole week now and I wanted to share some more of her. Some highlights:

Day 1: Peed on the bed

Day 2: Pooped on the couch

Day 3: Ate her very first cat turd

Day 4: Worked her first shift as mom's home office assistant

Day 5: Had our very first bath

Day 6: Peed on the cat tree

Day 7: Had her first taste of ice cream. She liked it even more than cat food!

She's such a beautiful and well behaved little angel. Potty training is a battle and I feel like we're losing, but I know it takes time. We love her to pieces and I'll be back posting more of her in no time. Thanks again everyone, and LOOK HOW CUTE!

Protrusion at my puppy's spay /microchip site

I recently adopted a 14 week old corgi/shepherd mix (breed is a guess, she's a rescue, 8 lbs) and we just notice this sticking out. She was spayed and chipped before we got her. It feels hard and there is obviously more under the skin. Is it stitches? Is something wrong with her microchip? Her first vet appointment is scheduled for the end of the month but we do have emergency clinics available if necessary. We are in CT, her spay and chip were done at a facility in another state.
