What happened to Christian Bale's role selections?

Bale is obviously a talented actor and for the most part he has picked more premium roles, even as a child starting out with a complete lack of options he won Empire of the Sun, he's worked with Jane Campion and Terrence Malick. He's had the odd couple of blockbuster stinkers but who can blame the man for a paycheck.

Lately his roles have been awful. Since 2011 if argue his roles have been largely poor, and since 2018 awful.

Between the two he had American Hustle*, Exodus, Out of the Furnace*, Knight of Cups, The Promise*, and Mowgli

After 2018 he had Thor, Amsterdam, The Pale Blue Eye and The Bride

* personally have not seen these but know the reception was weak

It seems that every single 2026 drama has gone under my radar, please help!

Looking through everybody's top of the year lists they're packed with horrors and animations, or 2025 films like I Swear and Pillion which I guess got a US release way after the UK.

Which are the big dramas so far this year?

Before anyone points out the irony the one I can name is The Drama

edit: thank you to everyone recommending I'm going to come back to all of them. I've upvoted every response because I have no idea why someone is downvoting the.

Now that it's cool enough to focus, which films are your regular summer watches?

Almost every summer I tend to watch same combo of Terminator 2, They Live, Romancing The Stone and Big Trouble In Little China.

Occasionally I'll add in some of the ITV staples that were on while I was growing up through to my teens, so St Trinians, Freaky Friday, Penelope, Nanny McPhee, all of which I unashamedly love

What good singleplayer shooters have released in the past 5 years for PS5?

Sorry if this is too vague for this sub. Shooters have been my favourite genre for as long as I can remember, FPS in particular but I'm at least open to TPS. I feel like I haven't played any new ones in ages. I guess the big trouble is that I don't like open world games, only linear.

I know Doom The Dark Ages has released but honestly I found the Doom reboot a bit boring (but I do love 1 and 2). I liked some things. The way it's designed for you to just constantly swap weapons and bounce around the arenas wasn't for me though.

My absolute favourites are Half Life 2 (feels like an actual adventure, I also like 1 just not as much), FEAR (feels like a 90s action film, but I don't like the sequels), Max Payne 1 and 2 (didn't like the start/stop of 3 with those awful hidden loading screens but the actual gameplay was incredible)

What actual real life physics explain what happen to me and my family in a "haunted" house 20 years ago?

To set things straight to begin with, I am in my mid 30s now with kids. I don't believe it was ghosts, I remember it being scary. As an adult I suspect it was probably an earthquake (and the thread is over in 1 comment) but I'm interested in finding the actual explanation.

I'll also stare that my family are pretty poor, our holidays were staying in the UK once every 2 to 3 years, but whatever happened spooked my parents enough that we left with 2 days remaining. The middle of one night we moved everyone downstairs, slept together in the living room and left first thing in the morning. They also aren't stupid people, nobody would have ever said "it's a ghost" until we read the guest book and saw comments like "no signs this time" or "we got a visit from Nell". Although my mum does always say "I don't believe in ghosts, but..."

We stayed in a house in Wales. Not a massive historic manor, just an old country house. I distinctly remember beside it being a mini "cliff" which we were at the bottom of, and my brother and I would spend lots of time climbing. A tree really close to my bedroom window so likely very rural if not a forest area, but several skulls from sheep (I think) so at least owned by a farmer if not immediately adjacent to farm land.

The simple bits: at night, each night my bed shook from side to side and woke me up. Obviously leads to me suspecting an earthquake but nobody else noticed this, it also didn't happen throughout the day. In my parents room there was an old rocking chair which moved one night (as in rocked and creaked, not across the room) but again despite being awake at the time my mum didn't feel any shakes to the house. Both bedrooms were on the same side of the house (just a hall apart).

Are there any decent tower defence games on Plus, or are they a genre entirely out of favour now?

I don't really know which category to click through for this, but on occasion I love grinding out a tower defence game and I can't find any. I much prefer the top down style of placing towers as a strategy game, but I'm willing to give a shooter a try if there's no other options.

Does your local library offer rentals other than books?

I've seen a ton of posts (I presume by Americans) saying they borrow DVDs, videogames and other stuff from their libraries. My local is just about 30 shelves with books and a little cafe (maybe just because it's part of a community center).

In two of the larger libraries I've seen in my town one has a large play area for kids with foam blocks, car rugs and the like, and the other has lots of adult facilities like computers, printers and whatnot. I've never seen any other media in them though

Are there any movies about people trapped in regular places which aren't dangerous or supernatural?

I think this is a somewhat more common theme recently - I haven't seen Backrooms or Exit 8 but assume that both are supernatural (spaces that don't really exist I guess?)

Are there any films about people trapped in regular places, like a hotel room, a house? Obviously some non realistic elements are fine, ie they can't break down the door for whatever reason. I'm curious about a more character oriented drama and conflicts that result from being just stuck

Could anyone help me to understand the hangman puzzle?

I'm not sure what should happen once I've completed the puzzle. I deliberated for about 20 minutes on this one and had to pause afterwards to look into it.

I'm not sure if I've chosen correctly. If I'm wrong or right what happens? I'm not sure if any of my solutions are correct, I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to match the two halves of the poems with one another since so many seemed interchangeable.

There's a lack of shooters on Plus when you think about the 50 released every year from 95 to 2015 - which of those available are the best?

My shortlist if anyone recommends any of them are Syphon Filter (series), Killzone and The Darkness

I love watching Landscape Artist of the Year, is there a watercolour specific equivalent?

Hi everyone, in the UK we have Landscape/Portrait Artist of the Year which is what I'd guess you call an open category. People enter with their choice of pencil, acrylic, textile to create their pictures, and compete against others in a knockout style competition.

Is there a series which shares this concept but with watercolour?
