Hvorfor har alle Bekkman sekker? 1. Skoledag

Whenever AoE2 is compared to AoE4

This is what goes through my head whenever I see people comparing AoE2 to AoE4.

As someone who enjoys and love both games, both can co-exist just fine.

Ok, I'm scared now.

I mentioned before how in my game I'm being borderline stalked by lacrimosa.

Keeps showing up in random bossfights, a majority of them and consistently coming across her sleeping at random places. Such as on a fluff cloud in the park. Or between garbage bins in a sketchy alley.

But getting her now on the first pull since the update.

Bruh.

Not complaining here, just getting a bit ruffled at all these coincidences lining up. And getting this extremely lucky.

I don't even.

EXPAT Family in Norway wishing to help out their Niece(Child) in the Phillipines

Today I woke up to a absolutely shocking video sent to my wife from her former neighbor as my wife calls her, of a video showing her young Niece being beaten severely in front of public, and stripped off her clothes as a my wife's sister was venting her rage out on her kid.
My wife's niece is 13 years old this year, but my wife sister has technically been estranged due to her incessant reckless behavior and constant begging for money without even trying for herself to improve the situation (refuses to even try getting a job, etc)
The Father of the children does not wish to have anything to do with the children, nor does the father's side of the family, and he has a history of substance abuse.
And as a result, of the public abuse, my wife's sister has been arrested by Authorities and put into prison for the time being.

Now here is the thing, after calming down my wife and having talked it out for a bit, we agreed that we really wish to help the Niece out.
But because there are no immediate family who is either willing or able to help out by taking my wife's niece inn for the time being, at least until this situation gets a resolution.

We thought it might be a lot easier if we just bring her Niece over to Norway for now, where at least she can have a stable family environment and her needs taken care off.
Then at least should would be with her relatives and a Aunt she knows well.

But I have no idea how on the Philippine side of things this will work?
Are there really no Child Protections services in the Philippines that can assist with helping this young girl out, as my wife claims? That we as a family abroad is able to at the very least assist in some way or form?
What would be the best approach to this matter?

I am fully aware it is not as simple as just to travel to the Philippines and pick her up and bring her with us, without proper arrangement for this, let a lone the concent of their parents, which might be difficult to obtain as we have no idea where the father is, and my wife's sister being put to jail.

I would much more prefer if the Local Child Protection Services to handle this case, and having us being available to them if they need any form of assistance from us.
as right now the Child's safety should be priority.

I my self is not a Philippino, but Norwegian/Thai, so my knowledge in Philippine laws and it's authorities are quite limited.
When it comes to local laws and authorities, I have that sorted out.

Hello! I used to play BDO extensively after release, but last time I logged on they had released the Shai class and there were rumors around Guardian class.

Now this isn't a question for what class should I play and all that.
I just want to hear it from you guys who still playing this game, if you think it's worth to give the game another shot?

Sell me the game.

The game probably changes a whole bunch, but in the end that dosn't really matter when it's been so long since I last logged on, that I pretty much forgot everything. So I'm pretty much starting from a clean slate.

Also I'm a big sucker for anything maritime. Been obsessed abut the new Windrose game and even spent obscene amount of hours grinding Archage 1 solely doing naval content and PotBS before that.
Never dipped my toes on the Naval aspect of BDO, did they flesh it out in any ways?

With all the people playing Crimson desert lately, it really got me itchy to try BDO again.
And no, i wont play crimson desert, as by principle, I don't play solo-games. (if it was Co-op that would be another story)

I see a lot of people seem to have trouble with Sea-Battles and being Outnumbered, and outmaneuvered.

Well let this old salty sailor give you a few hints and tips:

1 - Make sure your ships gear is up to date. I.e Same as your character gears and weapons, the Ships gear also needs to be upgraded and be as close if not above the Opponent level as possible.

https://preview.redd.it/joi92k7aqpxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=d50c84db0c5580dbe682553a8904845ddb612bb9

Lvl 10 ships? make sure you at least have lvl 8+ equipment. Damage scaling punishes/rewards heavily depending on your lvl vs opponent lvl.

2 - the F key is a usefull key to change the camera view, but it does not allow you to fire your guns, but it gives you a much better situational awareness when maneuvering around. Which is useful between shots.

https://preview.redd.it/3x60v97pqpxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=a03afe51717a1825e5c3858ed9e25d9a74cdd36e

Being able to see what is where can come in handy.

3 - DO NOT FORGET THE BAR SHOTS
Far to many forget BAR shots are a thing. Switching between ammo type does not reset your reload, or force reload your cannons.
Through a very known Phenomenon known as Mitosis, the shots will transform inside the cannons with appropriate Shanty and appeasing the Ship gods.
Bar shot is your bread and butter, and mastering the way of the bar shot will make or break when fighting against overwhelming numbers.

https://preview.redd.it/mqhsxw20spxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=b2676b4a6725f81118eb7f713edc5f7a4e6591f2

Aim for the sails, and demast the opponent, they become virtually immobile at sea, allowing you to focus down one by one, by sailing away from the immobilized ships. Making sure your main target is not Immobilized and thus able to chase after you away from it's fleet mates.

4 - "Treasure is fleeting, but a good RAKE lasts forever." - Rakeman of Rakeman Enterprice.

https://preview.redd.it/pjbh3y9jspxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=39a607c0cdf4acb8cfd50ec2d50980f9d54142cb

Raking is the equivalent to Head shots with guns, and for the landlubbers who don't know what Raking is, its the act of causing critical trauma on the Stern, aka the rear of a ship.
Realistically it is when the cannons shots go through the length of the ship rather than the side, causing maximum amount of damage and lethality per shot.
In game however, it is any shot to the Stern compartment of a ship. Don't matter if you hit from the Broadside, Bow or Stern, as long as you hit the back-end of the ship you will get critical.

    • COMBAT SAILS and keeping control of your speed.

https://preview.redd.it/qnswdsphupxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=b399d6d21ac73cf08045d23ad791d1c82c885c23

The Term Combat sail is often referred to sailing at Half-Sails, aka Half-speed. This gives you far better control of your ship and tighter turns. While yes you "turn" slower. You suffer less momentum on your turn, your Turn-geometry is tighter, allowing you to line up your cannons way easier against the Enemies.
By turning left, fire left broadside, and turn right, in order to fire right broadside becomes significantly easier, especially if the opponent is sailing faster than you, and thus his turns are far wider.
But also just as important, to keep your Stern away from their broadsides if someone comes sneaking up on you.

But this don't mean you should sail only at Half-speed during combat.
You need to evaluate the situation and get a good feel for your ship handling.
Known when to accelerate to "Boosts" you out of a volley, or do a even momentarily quicker turn. When to run away and when to chase. That is what is commonly known as a Captain-issue.

6 - Using The MAP.
Using the map, even while sailing or fighting, can become quite important outside than just knowing where you are or the nearest island!

https://preview.redd.it/ftvkxgnawpxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=09dcc2884bbbecdc81f496b6a273c25e6d0b6c4a

This grants you more situational awareness, and allow you to plan where you'd want to maneuver. Avoid incoming enemy fleets and drag the fight towards a direction where you are less likely to get jumped on by even more ships.

7 - DAMAGE CONTROL! Repair! Repair! Repair! ALWAYS repair!
Damage control is key for any good Ship. It is the low-key reason why the US Fleet during WW2 had such dominance over the IJN. It was well known among the Allies that the USN had among the best trained crew when it came to Damage-control. Being able to repair, and keep the ship afloat even when taking more incoming damage.
A reason why US Aircraft carriers were able to continuously launch planes despite just recently being bombed and most importantly, keeping their own losses both in materiel and crew at a minimum.

https://preview.redd.it/4vzw5xkpxpxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=04bada677e86e6b50045eef6648515481eb58101

This is why I find the Keelhold Hull bracing so strong. It allows you double-up on repairs, using Regular Repair kit, in between the Cool-down of your combat Repair kit.
Make sure you are well equip with repair kits! They are essential to winning fights ESPECIALLY when outnumbered!
And if you can, keep a Master Repair kit, for those very "oh shit" moments, due note it shares CD with any of the other combat repairkit, so use it wisely!
while my bar is rich in repairkits, I do advice bringing some Grog with you as well! My personal favourite is the gunroom Grog, as that extra reload speed is often what is required for disabling ships.

8 - Controll your bloodlust! DISABLE, NOT KILL.

Especially in battles where you are outnumbered, you want to focus on DISABLING the ships rather than outright killing them.

https://preview.redd.it/p05q02440qxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=afc9910d684fa228519250e02548d36897c389ac

When you see a ship prepped for Boarding (Sword icons), it will not continue fighting. SHIFT YOUR TARGET keep fighting untill all of them are pacified.

9 - Powder Monkeys and Sailors first!

https://preview.redd.it/5oh8oajq0qxg1.png?width=2561&format=png&auto=webp&s=2726dca7eaf25ba40456411a203a5e03d1225baf

A quite to common mistake I often see (among streamers at least) is being impatient when boarding. Jumping in headfirst and then getting ganged up and rekt.
Remember, you're a Captain, not a Hero! Let your crew do their job and jump in first, spreading out the fight at first, allowing you to focus the fight more appropriately!

Also, if your fond of your gun, you can just fire from your ship like your typical Dutch-sailor.

10 - The Final Tip:

When your die your dead.

I hope you find some of these tips useful, while some are obvious, quite often the obvious is often forgotten.

I'm personally playing on hardest difficulty, but never really struggled with Naval-fights, even when arriving at the Swamp-area, where fights become significantly harder (mainly due to larger ships), which is always a giant + in my book.
