How to stay in a lucid dream longer?

So I've gotten very good at Lucid dreaming lately, but when I become aware that I'm dreaming though reality checks I tend to only last about 2 - 4 minutes max. I make sure to remain calm so I don't wake up, and even focus on the floor if things start to get blurry to see again. But it gets to a point not long after where I feel as if I'm slipping out of the dream world as things go black, and start to hear stuff like my Fan or ticking of a clock. Is there anyway to fix this and pull myself back in, or is that basically it?

Also, whats the longest any of you have been in a Lucid dream for?
