The Bay (2012) - great 4th of July horror movie

I had seen this a very long time ago and forgot everything about it, so I made my sister watch it with me today. It was like small monster Cloverfield and we greatly enjoyed it. That jump scare at the end got both of us soooooo good. Might be the best jump scare of all time. I do see this recommended every now and then, but in case you haven’t seen it, give it a watch if you enjoy found footage!

Another update on the toad that wants into my house. I have followed the advice from here, and look who found his way into my attempt at a toad abode! I’ve never been happier! Also, there’s a second smaller toad out there now, too. We are getting a water feature tomorrow.

A theme night first for me- 50s/ 60s night.

After so many surveys complaining about the repetitive and overdone nature of the 70s/80s nights, I thought we were doing well when my last cruise had a Y2K night. So imagine my surprise to see a 50s/ 60s night on my upcoming sailing on the Allure. Who is asking for this? Why can’t we get a single 90s night?

A rule of thumb for entertaining is to cater the music and vibe to the time when most of your guests were teenagers. So are they catering to a 80-90 year old crowd? If they are, the 11 pm parties don’t make any sense.

Update on frog (turns out it’s a toad) who wants into my house- the toad abode construction has begun.

Thanks for all the feedback on my last post! I have since figured out that this is a toad. We have named him Samwise because he’s gonna be our gardener.

He’s still hanging out in the door frame staring into our house with hope and wonder in his eyes. I bought a terra cotta pot and gathered some paving bricks. We do not have a soil area for him, we have concrete, rocks and grass. For now, his abode is next to where he’s always at so he can see it and know I care about him.

He does hop around the rocks some, so we are converting the corner of the rocks under where the rainwater pours into a toad abode. We have some things to make and gather to imitate the ground. I’m thinking a tray of dirt and nature things like leaves. Then a fountain/ water feature of some kind. I will update as our toad paradise takes shape.

A frog appears to want to come into our house. How can I make him happier outside?

Photos taken through a 2 or so week span. He seems to really want in our house, but there are so many bugs and moisture pockets down where he’s at. Do you think he wants to be our friend? Can I set something up outside to let him know I love him, but he’s better off outside? Thank you!

My theater, tonight’s late showings. Blue means seats available, x means seat sold. This movie is still going strong.

I saw 2 movies this week at 10:45 pm on a weekday. Disclosure Day and Obsession. What a difference of theater experiences.

Saw disclosure day on Monday night. It came out that Friday. It’s a massive blockbuster movie, Spielberg and millions of dollars invested. Me and my sister were the only 2 in the theater. The movie was awful garbage, we hated it.

Saw Obsession tonight, Thursday night. Same theater. The movie has been out for a month. It is a low budget movie with unknown actors. I could not believe how many seats were full. The movie was incredible, I’m scarred for life. Possibly the most unsettling movie I’ve ever seen.

I love to see audiences showing up for the movies that deserve it and not just seeing what critics are paid to enjoy. Thoughts?

Anyone remember or have any memory of the pedestrian overpass in St. Peters that went over hwy 70 near Mid Rivers?

My family is trying to put the pieces together.

Epic is a stunning park where the music and soundscapes have been carefully composed and planned. They play a huge part in the park experience. Until the family comes in with 3 kids all blasting their phone videos at top volume no matter where they are.

I’m seriously so sick of people young and old, adult and kid, who think that it’s acceptable to play their phones at full volume in a public space. We could not escape this. I know this isn’t park specific but it’s more apparent when you’re enjoying the wizarding vibes of 1920s Paris in cafe de La sirene and suddenly you’re hearing brain rot videos blasting from an iPad from a table away. Most of the time, it’s kids so young, they shouldn’t even know how to hold a phone.

Had the best day ever at Epic today.

Hello, the weather today could not have been more perfect. We stayed from rope drop to the fountain show. Every moment was magic. We never ran out of stuff to do.

Highlights

Early park entry- did stardust 2x, hiccups and werewolf within 10 minutes of regular park open. Could have done monsters but needed a break so we didn’t barf. Stardust and hiccups are 10/10 rides and I love them.

Sooo many character interactions in ministry, dragons and dark universe. They are seriously the best. I’m not a big “character meet up- let’s line up” but the natural interactions with invisible man, the ministry students, etc, really make my day. Invisible man told me he hated me and I should go die. I love him!

The shows. There are 2. I’ve been to the park 5 times now and watch them almost every time. I love them.

Food and drinks- avoid prime eating time and you can have quick meals in wonderful venues. So much space in das stakehouse, toadstool, mead hall, both places in ministry, etc. The bartender at plastered owl even came by and gave everyone at the bar 2 express passes. Why? No idea!

And lastly, the fountain show. I love it so much. The park is a treasure and the fountain show is the beautiful jewel on top.

Advice for Laumeier Art Fair (parking)

I’m probably late to the party, but this was our first time attending this festival and it was lovely. However, parking was a nightmare. We waited foreverrrrr to even turn onto the road to get to the lot and then it was chaos even though cops were parked there (not directing traffic…?).

Anyway, after all that waiting and waiting, once we got into the lot, we were pushed allllll the way back to old navy/ Home Depot anyway. We parked right in front of petsmart. The walk to the festival was less than 10 minutes. So save yourself the trouble and just plan to park over there. Skip all the nightmare of the “official” parking lot, because you’ll be shoved straight back to this lot anyway. Enjoy the festival, there were so many amazing artists!
