Has anyone been paid to record videos for AI?

Has anyone here actually done this? I only found out recently that some companies will actually pay people to record videos for AI, and honestly I thought it sounded fake at first, from what I've read they're looking for everyday activities instead of polished content, things like cooking, cleaning, organising, or just moving around the house. Apparently it's used to help train bots.

I'm curious how common these projects are and where people are finding them. Most discussions about AI side gigs focus on audio rating, but video collection seems like a completely different category

Hot take, live crickets are more trouble than they are worth for most crested geckos

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but after keeping cresties for a few years, I don’t think live crickets deserve the “must-have” status they often get. A good complete diet has always been the foundation for mine, and live feeders feel more like occasional enrichment than something they absolutely need every week.

Crickets are the one feeder I’ve enjoyed the least. They die if you don’t use them quickly, they smell, they escape way too easily, and if one gets left in the enclosure overnight it can end up bothering the gecko. For an animal that only gets live feeders once or twice a week, it just feels like more hassle than it’s worth.

I still think live feeders have their place because the hunting behavior is great enrichment, but I’ve found other options much easier to deal with than crickets. I’m curious what everyone else has settled on once the novelty of feeding crickets wore off.

Tap water filter for espresso or is RO with remineralisation still the only answer?

Local tap is 280 TDS, bicarbonate heavy. Harsh on the boiler and muddy in light roasts. Current workflow is third wave water + distilled. Cup quality is great. The distilled in jugs supply chain is wearing on me.

On the table:

  1. RO+remin (SCA-aligned, install is a project)

  2. High end machines filter like Bestmax or Claris Pro(handles bicarbonate, no cup quality precision)

  3. Ionizer route (looking at a couple including Tyent because some newer hybrid designs run at neutral pH with low TDS rather than forcing high alkaline output, which historically made ionizers a non starter for coffee)

Leaning RO+remin because precision is unmatched. Anyone gone the ionizer route for coffee?

Low sugar wine recs that don't taste like sad water?

Every skinny wine I have tried tastes like someone left pinot grigio open by the pool for a week. The flavor just isn't there.

I am not after diet wine. I'd rather drink wines that naturally end up lower in sugar because of the winemaking process, not something that's been marketed as a wellness product.

Red, white, or rose, I don't really care. I just want something that still tastes like real wine, and ideally has nutrition info that's easy to verify.

What low sugar wines have you actually enjoyed?

How much does a custom vending machine cost in 2026?

Trying to budget for a custom vending machine for a non food product that needs careful handling on the way out. Everything online ranges from $1500 to $50k+ with zero context on what drives the difference at each tier. It's like comparing a Honda to a Ferrari and calling them both cars. Anyone who's gone through a real custom build (not a wrap on an off the shelf cabinet), what did the full project cost and what specs pushed the number up or down the most?

Is a revision rhinoplasty actually worth the cost?

Since the second procedure is much more costly and sounds like recovery will be tougher than the first, I am being truthful about whether it's worthwhile. For those who did have a revision done, what was the reason that made it worthwhile, or not?

Where do you find wedding photographers with real reviews

I'm planning my destination wedding in another state and I'm having a hard time selecting the best photographer because Instagram gives an amazing vibe for all, Google reviews seem to be half fake, and wedding directories only have 5-star ratings without any information.

Where can I find the reviews that would tell me about important stuff like communication style, edit delivery, how they were on your wedding day, etc. I can't go for an in person consultation in another state.

The buy vs build ecommerce math that points people toward launch vector

The buy versus build discussion invariably turns out to be a vibes discussion but at its core, it's a number game when you calculate what I really costs to build

Building is six to eighteen months without any revenue being generated, and throughout those months, the advertising dollars are effectively, spent findings out what doesn't work combine this with inventory bought without knowing if it will sell, a site with no traffic, and branding for a name no one recognises, and it becomes clear why building is expensive well before making any money

Buying avoids all this as the money-making machine, the customer base, and the data are well available from day one

The buy versus build numbers that make people take the launch vector route are simply the absence of runway, with a known brand and an experienced team running it, all the months of burning money trying to find product market fit don't even come into play because someone else already found it

Building can definitely work, but it's the reality of the cost of building the runway that drives people towards buying.

Can you think of a hobby that you tried once out of curiosity but found yourself doing for years?

Hobbies tend to be transient activities, at least according to what I've assumed until now. What hobby has stuck with you unexpectedly, and why did you stick with it?
