Beautiful art style, amazing graphics, lovingly recreated play spaces, and it’s models were so ahead of their time they were reused for both Halo: Reach, and Halo 3, creating an artistic continuity with this game and its sequels, Halo Reach & Halo 3

With the prequel missions in Campaign Evolved, we are introduced to the Stanchion Rifle for the first time in the games. Johnson even has a name for his, Sophie.

Given the legendary ending teased a Halo 2 remake, and Halo Studios seems to be aiming for consistency with the remakes (with the BR and SMG designs, elevator in the library, etc) if we ever get a Halo 3 remake, it would be amazing to see Johnson use his stanchion during the mission Halo, and passing it to us to kill Guilty Spark instead of a generic Spartan laser.

(It would also be a cool thing to give him in the opening of Metropolis, instead of the regular sniper he usually has)

Interesting that they’ve added Ctf mechanics to the story of Halo 2

In Halo: CEA, the Cryo tech (Thom Shepard) who wakes up Chief is based on the face of Mathieu Lacombe, a make-a-wish kid who wished to, “Live in Halo forever”

In Campaign Evolved, the other of the Cryo Tech crew members (Samuel Marcus) uses the face model for Mathieu Lacombe, keeping his wish to live in Halo forever alive

I am a big fan of how chunky and compact the exterior of the ship feels now, the scale feels more condensed and fitting for the parts we go through (where the Hangar, Control room, and Brig of the ship are all densely packed together)

It also gives the covenant a different look compared to the graceful, lean and expansive ship we saw in the OG games.

I hope that OG design returns, but also for covenant (and human) ships to gain more design variety in future games. This Truth and Reconciliation (as well as the Halberd destroyer and covenant research vessel we saw in the prequels) is a solid step in that direction I think.

My wife’s girlfriend bought me a PS5 so we can play together. I’ve already purchased Campaign Evolved and I can’t wait to play it tomorrow!

Context: On July 14th, 1789, rioters in Paris stormed the Bastille Prison, viewing it as a symbol of Royal oppression. They killed the governor of the prison, freed the 7 inmates held there, and the event served as the catalyst for the French Revolution.

Interestingly the aging prison was set to be demolished, but revolutionaries promptly tore it down, with few fragments remaining.

Context: The Kingdom of Francia, West Francia, and eventually France really had a penchant for guys named Louis.

The first Louis to rule was Louis the Pious (r. 814-840), son of Charlemagne, and the last was Napoleon III (r. 1852-1870, born as Charles-Louis Napoléon**)**

By my count, France has had 43 Kings, starting with Charlemagne (r. 768-814), and ending with Napoleon III, which means that over half of French monarchs ruled with that name.
