Type O Negative and Celtic Frost Pass the Round (Deafheaven and Twisted sister Eliminated)
Hvis Lyset tar oss-Burzum (1992 (Atmosferic)Black metal)
I’m pretty indifferent to Burzum these days, but I consider the 90s-era project—setting the controversy aside—to be one of the best in black metal. This album—and really the entire discography up through *Filosofem* (or even that '98 album whose name escapes me)—is perfect; it showcases everything Burzum was capable of during its golden age, standing as one of the best black metal albums of that era. And while I still prefer *Filosofem*, I really liked this album.
A 8.1/10
Slayer and Helloween Pass the round (The Gathering and Porcupine Tree Eliminated)
To Mega Therion-Celtic Frost (1985 Black Avant Garde Metal)
This is undoubtedly a cornerstone of proto-black metal—and extreme metal in general—and a fantastic album in every respect; even if there are a few weak tracks, the others more than make up for them. As I said, while it may not be perfect, it has some truly great moments. The vocals, style, and technique are excellent, as is the production—not to mention that magnificent cover art. Without a doubt, *To Mega Therion* is one of the best metal albums of the 80s.

The Real Thing-Faith no more(1989 Funk Metal)
This is one of my all-time favorite albums; it’s perfect, and I’ll tell you why. First, the record opens with "From Out of Nowhere"—one of the best alternative metal or funk metal songs ever written, blending pop and metal. The album continues with "Epic," a fantastic mix of rap, funk, and metal; it’s my favorite song by the band and one of my all-time favorites. Next comes "Falling to Pieces," featuring a great bass groove and a memorable chorus—easily one of the album's highlights. That’s followed by "Surprise! You're Dead!," the heaviest track on the record; it leans toward thrash metal while maintaining a solid groove. After these four tracks—some of the band's best work—comes "Zombie Eaters," a slower song with explosive sections. It flows immediately into the title track, "The Real Thing." This is the longest song on the album and one of the best, boasting great rhythm, lyrics, and overall execution. Then come "Underwater Love" and "The Morning After"—excellent additions to the tracklist, each with its own unique character. Next is "Woodpecker from Mars," a fabulous instrumental that captures the atmosphere of the entire album in a single track. That’s followed by a magnificent cover of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," and the album closes with "The Edge of the World," a fitting "ballad" to wrap up such a unique record. As a bonus, I’d include the B-side "Cowboy Song," which is one of the greatest alt-metal tracks in history. I have absolutely no complaints about this album, making it a true masterpiece.
A solid, magnificent 10/10.
