I usually struggle to make it to work on time. I switched it up today and am amazed at how much extra time I have. It just all feels so illogical 😅

I usually get up at 6:30 and STRUGGLE to leave by 8.

Today, I knew I had to finish packing for a trip and load up my car. I woke up at 6:15 to give myself some extra time.

I didn’t listen to any music while I got ready, no podcasts, no audiobooks, just silence. Since I usually struggle to get out the door on time, I decided to completely cut out any music/background noise since I had the extra packing stuff to do.

I was ready to go at 7:15, decided to treat myself to some coffee and drive through breakfast (the drive through was also somewhat crowded!), ate at a non-rushed pace in my car, and still had time to make this post before heading to work. I’m heading to work now and going to arrive 10 minutes earlier than usual too!

I truly amaze myself sometimes lol. Feel kind of silly but it just shows that I CAN get ready quickly just usually feel like I can’t.

End of year checkout lists 😩😡

At the end of each semester, my school gives us an end of year checkout list. It has a variety of things to do, each needing to be signed off by someone. We spend our last days chasing people around our massive building who are never where they say they’ll be just for them to sign off without even checking that the task has been completed.

I have turned mine in with a specific administrator’s signature missing every single time because she is impossible to find. It’s not like me missing her signature has had any kind of consequence.

Genuinely, what is the point?

I understand us needing to do the tasks on the list. I don’t understand why we are made to chase people down for signatures, especially when they all sign without checking anything.

What do I do about this? I’m not even sure what these are (yellow jackets?) and I’m terrified of insects and bugs

Found today on the underside of an outdoor chair. Located in South Carolina, US. I hope the picture is clear enough, I was scared to get closer 😭

What’s your equivalent to: “Oh you’re the art teacher? It must be so much fun just relaxing and painting all day!”

Yep that’s what I do all day, just relax and paint 😃

I’d imagine a teacher in nearly any position has received some kind of comment like this at one point or another, a comment that comes across as condescending and completely unaware of what your job is like. What’s the equivalent for your content area?

I am almost late to work/cutting it as close as possible every single day and getting up earlier doesn’t help in the way I think it should

I wake up at 6:30. Try to leave the house by 8. HAVE to leave the house by 8:07 or I’ll just straight up be late. Usually leave at 8:05.

I don’t even understand what takes me so long. I don’t even do my makeup (just mascara), I hardly do anything to my hair, I pick out my clothes the night before, I pack my lunch the night before, my bag is always packed, water bottle set by the sink, don’t lay around in bed after my alarm goes off, and I eat the same breakfast every day so there’s no time spent deciding what to make.

I always play YouTube, a podcast, or audiobook in the background while I get ready. These things don’t distract me, they actually keep me more on task. But I feel like I get ready SO slowly. Even when it’s getting later in the morning, it feels like I just can’t make myself move faster. I know if I rush and get all flustered, it will just set such a bad tone for the day.

I’ve tried getting up earlier and it doesn’t work out how I think it should. Getting up 10-15 minutes earlier really doesn’t make a difference. Getting up 30 minutes earlier does, but I don’t leave 30 minutes earlier than usual, more like 10 minutes earlier. And I’m absolutely miserable getting up earlier.

What am I doing all this time? I couldn’t even tell you. Just moseying my way through my morning routine and suddenly realizing CRAP! It’s 8:00 and I’m only halfway done with my breakfast.

What can I even do? Even if you don’t have advice, knowing I’m not alone in this struggle would help too.

When the suggested search results show what you need, but you type one more letter and it goes away

This is a fictional example but this happens to me all the time on all kinds of platforms (Google, YouTube, Spotify, etc.)

I’m on Spotify and going to search “Don’t Stop Believin’.” I start typing the title. Meanwhile I’m looking at the search results automatically popping up as I type. Let’s say I type “Don’t S-“ and I see the song show up in the search results. Before my brain registers this, I’ve already typed the next letter. Shouldn’t be an issue. I now have “Don’t St-“ but the search results have changed for some reason to no longer include the song it JUST showed me. You would think adding more detail to what I’m inputting in the search would confirm to the platform that that is indeed what I am searching for, but instead it goes away.

This doesn’t happen all the time but often enough for it to be a pet peeve of mine.

Showed my mom the handmade jewelry I’ve been putting my all into making for months to start selling. All she said was “those are the ones I want you to give me for Mother’s Day.”

Honestly, now that I don’t live with my parents anymore, I don’t really try to have a relationship with my mom. I don’t put effort into it because she (bipolar with narcissistic tendencies) has just been emotionally absent for years now. I am still friendly with her but we aren’t close. She is not someone I have ever been able to rely on emotionally.

Anyway, I have spent months making handmade jewelry and other artwork to try to start selling at craft fairs. I have put an enormous amount of effort and time into putting this all together. I was hesitant, but I decided to show her what I’ve been working on while I had to stop by her house to pick something up.

I wanted her to be proud of me. I wanted her to give me some sort of encouragement. Just anything. All she did was point to a particular pair of earrings and say, “Those are the ones I want you to give me for Mother’s Day.”

Trying not to let this get me too down, as I should have expected this, but unfortunately it still just made me sad :(

When a YouTuber you like starts clickbaiting

Vague but dramatic clickbait is my least favorite kind of clickbait, and I have just stopped watching a certain YouTuber’s videos because she started doing this. I really only want to click on a video that excites or interests me because the title/thumbnail are specific enough to give me SOMETHING to latch onto. If your title and thumbnail don’t tell/show me what the video is about, I’m completely uninterested. A title like “I have never revealed this before” or “This shook me to my core” with you making a dramatic face in your thumbnail and little to no visual or written context just drives me away.

I work in a school with kind of a weird set up. Teachers do not have their own classrooms. We move to different rooms throughout the day. Some stay in the same place all day because their subject matter requires a certain room, like PE teachers needing the gym, but most move around.

Every week, admin sends an email reminding teachers that it is an expectation to be at the classroom door greeting students during class transitions. This is nearly physically impossible for those of us who move classrooms throughout the day.

During the 5 minute bell change, I’m hustling towards my next class right along with the students. And when I get to my next room, I always prioritize setting my stuff down, hooking up my computer to the board, putting the bell ringer or instructions on the board, etc. As an art teacher, I also need that time to set up supplies and will begin doing that IF I even have any time left. All of this needs to be in place before the bell rings so the classroom is orderly and students immediately have something to get started on.

I’m not going to stand at the door in what little time I may or may not have left after traveling the halls and then spend multiple minutes setting up at the start of class while the kids are just idle.

This is what made me realize actual, grown adults text ChatGPT like it’s a friend.

I have no idea why Reddit showed me a post from r/ChatGPT but it did. The poster was complaining about the way ChatGPT talks, saying it has started to not fully agree with the user. Example: Going from “I agree,” to “I agree, but there’s also…” The person was so upset that ChatGPT always has a little pushback in its responses now.

This was a heavily upvoted post. So many of the comments agreed. One stuck out as especially horrifying. The person said they were upset because they loved texting ChatGPT while they watched their favorite tv show and basically texted it all of their thoughts and opinions as they watched the latest episode, and that was now not as fun with the new shift in the way ChatGPT responds to things.

So many people were also commenting about “training” ChatGPT to “speak” the way you want it to.

It was just really disturbing to see how many people are using ChatGPT as a friend to text. I just don’t get the appeal. It isn’t a friend to chat with.

If you want to chat about your favorite show, talk to a real human friend about it. Or, if none of your friends watch that show, check out a place to discuss it like Reddit, for example. Or, even crazier, realize that not all of your thoughts and opinions have to be shared with someone and just enjoy the show alone.

First ever time selling my work. I am so confused by the legal side of selling. I have applied for an Artist and Craftsman License (South Carolina). I have set up a Square account to receive payments. I see there is a tax option which can apply the 6% sales tax to sales. I’m just not understanding what to do with the tax collected.

What all should I be keeping track of? So far, I have noted the amount of money I have spent on supplies and display items. Since I haven’t made a sale yet, I haven’t noted that but I will. Should I note the cost of paying for a booth at a market? I am 23 years old and brand new to this so I’m sorry if there is an obvious answer to these questions I’m not understanding 😅

Wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this or can explain. I just finished watching Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. I’ve seen it maybe twice before years ago (not super into Star Wars but I do like it and I’m sick and decided to rewatch). When the movie ended and the end credits music started, I got a super strong wave of ASMR head tingles followed by another strong wave and then a few smaller ones.

This is bizarre to me because it’s not like the music is soft and relaxing lolol. Maybe it had something to do with the satisfaction of finishing the movie? I don’t know, just thought it was weird and kind of funny and wanted to share to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

For context: I watch ASMR to help me get sleepy every night and have been for about 8-ish years. Almost always personal attention based. I usually don’t get super strong tingles anymore unless I stumble into watching someone new or see a unique or creative trigger I haven’t seen before. I get ASMR tingles in real life too but not from watching movies or tv or listening to music… until now apparently lol.

Not in any particular order. Also, I rarely use Pinterest now and haven’t used consistently in about a year, so I may not even be fully up to date.

  1. Ads

- Take them away. Reduce them. Whatever. This is the biggest thing that has made me no longer enjoy using Pinterest. Ads on top of ads on top of ads. Video ads are especially awful (see my next point). I genuinely believe my feed is more than 50% ads.

  1. Videos

- Take them away. I hate that Pinterest includes videos now, especially video ads, but even videos that are not ads. It is overstimulating trying to scroll through my feed. I deleted TikTok for a reason. I don’t want to see TikToks, TikTok like videos, or TikTok imitation ads anywhere on Pinterest.

  1. Feed automatically updates as you scroll (fine) but becomes more repetitive as you save pins (not fine)

- I save one picture of a type of nail art from my home page feed. Suddenly, I’m shown similar pins over and over and over. Now I’m stuck with being shown a lot of the same types of pins instead of a variety.

  1. Search function shows irrelevant results

- Instead of showing what I’ve actually searched for, it shows SOME of what I’ve searched for and LOTS of pins similar to most recent saves, even when completely irrelevant to the search in terms of subject matter.

  1. Ai images

- I recently had a hair appointment and was trying to find some inspiration pics to show my stylist. SO many of the pins shown to me were Ai. I don’t want to see Ai haircut ideas. I want to see real haircuts on real people with real hair textures so I can actually have an idea of what a certain style will look like on me.

I am sad that what once was my favorite app is now unusable. Making boards was genuinely a hobby for me. Yes, I saved the classic recipes and ideas for my real life. But, it was also a bit of a creative outlet. That might sound silly, but I had so much fun making boards for specific aesthetics and fantasies. For example, what would my aesthetic be like if I were a mermaid? I made boards for my friends made of images that represented how I view them, and they loved them. I used Pinterest both creatively and functionally. Now I pretty much don’t use it at all :(

Making consistent progress so far in my project pan journey :) I’ve done a good job of not buying any more makeup, skincare, lotion, hair care, etc. (outside of necessary refills) other than lipgloss and nail polishes 😩 BUT 1 lipgloss and 2 nail polishes over the course of 3 months is a massive improvement from my previous shopping habits (think of all the classic ADHD shopping habits and that’s me lol).

Typing on iPhone keyboard has become insufferable. I literally hate it. I used to watch words appear as I typed and didn’t have to look at the keyboard. Sure, I made some typos here and there but autocorrect accurately corrected them 9/10 times. I don’t know what has happened or changed but it’s awful now. I make mistakes on almost every single word. I swear it is choosing letters I haven’t touched. Autocorrect is way worse at its job and changes words to some bizarre things. It takes me forever to type anything on my phone now and it’s so annoying. What’s up with this?

Also for fun, I turned off autocorrect and retyped this post:
