I will potentially be spending Christmas in SEA and looking for an inclusive community. Preferably no clubbing but just a nice and welcoming group of people to hang out with. Any ideas? Thank you

Since I was a kid I dreamed about going to Borneo and finally my dream has come true. Thank you so much for all the experiences and the best nature encountered I have had to date in my life. My favourite place was Sepilok, the rainforest discovery walks during the day and night. I was extremely lucky to see 5 orangutana just randomly in the wild, saw slow Loris (I really really wanted to see this animal), flying squirrels, langues, macaques, various snakes and spiders, tarsiers etc. Absolutely in love with Sepilok. Then I took a Kinabatangan river cruise and saw countless Proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, silver monkeys, hornbills, kingfishers, storks, butterflies, centipedes and many others. We nearly saw an elephant but sadly it hid away from us. We have heard it and have seen the big pile of poo though. Sadly I had to miss Semporna and Sipadna diving but I questioned going in the end as it feels too expensive.

All these wonderful experiences made me question one part of Borneo that I did not like at all - Kota Kinabalu. Since arriving to KK I felt people were very unfriendly and low effort with you. This started with the taxi drivers putting minimal effort into their job. Then the food, almost nothing for vegetarians, no vegetables, quite unhealthy and higher price than in Sandakan. Then rude people in many places and including the hostel I was unlucky to stay. Then we booked this scam tour that said it is a national park tour but we didn't even enter the national park (we managed to get the money back from Klook after we complained though!) then the extremely prohibitive price of climbing Mt Kinabalu which we were very disappointed. The price difference between Malaysians and non-Malaysians being 1/4 of the price and no consideration for other low income countries. Then cherry on the top was taking a bus to Sandakan that was just absolutely horrible, as in, the bus itself was old but people on it being extremely loud and angry when O decided to say something (family with two children). It was just so much different from the rest of Borneo! I was very glad to go to Sepilok and my onward journey was much better

All in all I will remember Borneo as a true wildlife destinations and picture myself in Sepilok with the magnificent orangutans🦧

Could I get some advice on first of all if it is safe for a solo female traveller in her 30s and what would be the best itinerary? I love nature, exercise and I am a diver but I don't want all of it to be just about diving. Any other tips also much appreciated, thank you

I genuinely wonder about this lately after observing a bunch of men in real life and on Instagram telling women exactly what they want to hear. Sadly, some of them turned out to be frauds. Hence my question - among the pool of men who consider themselves feminist, what percentage would you say are really true feminists acting like it?

As above. I love solo travelling but I get lonely especially around Christmas time. Two years ago I ended up on Koh Rong, Cambodia and had a very lonely experience. All I could do there was going to a rave or a pub and it was just not the vibe. Spending Christmas at "home" is not an option for me anymore, sadly. Looking for some lived experience or some tips and advice, or both. Thank you

Hi, I just wanted to see if I am in the wrong here. I am travelling with a friend and booked the bus for us. She told me she is going to the church at 7am so I didn't set the alarm as I thought she would wake me up. I did oversleep and she woke me up late, 8.30. She admitted she overslept as well but woke up at 7:50. Then I asked why didn't she wake me up and she said she thought I was away and she tried to call me and that she thinks it is rude to wake someone up even though I have the tickets for both of us to go on this bus. Now she is blaming me for the whole situation and says that I should have let her know that I am not setting the alarm. I totally get the first part - I should have let her know about the alarm part but when I told her that she should have woken me up then she denied her part because she is saying that it is rude to wake someone up. I then told her that my alarm could have simply not rung or I might have slept through it, then what? I really struggle to understand the logic and why I am the only one to blame in this situation. I just need an argument that will convince me, constructive feedback is very welcome
