Okay, so I started my first Purge. Waves were coming, and at one point a message popped up saying that someone was challenging me. The waves were still coming. I defended the treasure for a while and then pushed through the enemy waves toward the enemy camp. There was some kind of boss there, and when I killed him, the waves stopped.

My question is: if I stay near the treasure, will the waves eventually end and the boss come to me? Or do I need to fight through the waves and kill him to stop the Purge?
