My QoL wishlist after getting deeper into the game

My QoL wishlist after getting deeper into the game

I’m really enjoying the game, but the further I get into zombies, automation and the Factory, the more I run into small inventory/management issues that add a lot of unnecessary clicking.

Here are some QoL features I’d love to see:

  • Bag slot rules / better bag management Let us decide what should automatically go into each specialized bag — ideally even assign a specific item to each slot. Right now loot mostly goes into the main inventory first, and moving things into specialized bags is awkward, especially since you often need a chest as an intermediary. At the very least, let us freely move items directly between equipped bags.
  • Allow Factory construction over dropped resources When rebuilding a Factory line, you can’t place belts or machines where a few leftover resources are lying on the floor. You have to pick absolutely everything up first, which is especially annoying when your bags are already full. Either let construction ignore/move dropped items automatically, or give the whole Factory building/editing system a small QoL pass.
  • One-click “sell enough for maximum Likes” at vendors Add a special click/button that automatically selects exactly enough items to reach that vendor’s current maximum Likes gain. No more, no less. If I can get 12 Likes from a trader this week, I’d love one button that fills the sell window with exactly the required amount.
  • Rename zombies Please. Once you have a lot of zombies, the limited pool of repeating names becomes chaos. I currently keep an external spreadsheet just to track who does what, which organs they have, which perks they have, etc. Custom names like “Miner”, “Furnace”, “Choir” or “Farmer Gold” would make managing them so much easier.
  • Zombie roster / management screen Ideally a table showing every zombie you own, including name, current location/workstation, mastery, perks, equipped items, collar, organs/skulls and maybe inventory. This would also solve a lot of the zombie-management problems above. Clicking a zombie in the roster and having the map show where they currently are would be amazing.
  • More quick slots — preferably at least 6 Four is not enough once combat becomes more involved. I can easily use four different combat potions, but I also want food and something for reducing Insanity / restoring whatever the purple-blue bar represents. Before and after battles I’m constantly swapping quick-slot items manually. Two extra slots would make a huge difference.
  • Recycle / smelt obsolete tools and weapons Old pickaxes, axes, swords, etc. keep piling up as you upgrade. Throwing them away feels terrible. Let us dismantle or smelt them for at least a small percentage of their original materials.
  • Pin recipes / proper crafting TODO list This is probably my biggest one. Let us pin several recipes at once and show the ingredients in the HUD. There are so many multi-step crafting chains that I constantly forget what I was collecting halfway through. A small TODO panel such as Need: 4 Iron Details / 2 Polished Stone / 1 Reinforced Beam would be incredibly useful.
  • Overview of stored organs and their quality This one is admittedly more of a luxury feature, but I’d love some way to see what organs I currently have across storage: how many Hearts, Brains, Guts etc., and their red/white skull values. When deciding whether to upgrade a zombie, I currently have to run back and forth between storage just to check whether I actually have that +3 red skull Heart somewhere.

None of these would really make the game easier in terms of progression — they would mainly reduce repetitive inventory/menu work once your graveyard, zombies and Factory become large.

Curious what QoL features you would add.

I wonder how many postcards you send out each month?

These are my outgoing postcards this month.

I would send more, but the postage fees are quite high. :)

Do you collect animal vestiges, or just leave them behind?

https://preview.redd.it/w8qmztfe83mh1.png?width=564&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac4c0e27c25eddf8d007a68ef911874966840eee

I’m wondering whether collecting animal vestiges is actually worth the inventory space and travel time to a vendor, especially when the vendor is far away.

When you kill animals, do you pick up every vestige and carry them around until your next vendor run, or do you mostly ignore/discard them unless they are high quality?

Is selling vestiges a meaningful source of money, or is it too inefficient compared with other ways of earning currency?

Vaše oblíbené jídlo a pití při kocovině?

Co si dáváte dobrého, když máte kocovinu? Něco, co běžně moc neděláte, ale když ji máte jak z praku, řeknete si: „Okay, dneska to jebu a zaprasím.“ Koupíte si nějaké nezdravé dobroty a celý den se tím ládujete.

Lazy animals?

Okay, so I’ve got my first wolf. Is it just me, or are pets really slow when following you? I’ll be running through the forest while my pet just casually strolls along behind me, and I constantly have to stop and wait for him.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to improve their follow speed, or is that just how it works?

Thanks!

What is it in the sky?

When I look up at the sky at night, I see this strange structure instead of stars. Is Icarus under some kind of artificial dome, or is it just a graphical glitch?

Is it possible to build a bridge?

Hi, so I placed foundations and tried to put one more foundation on top of it to create a bridge...From each side I can do that to certain proximity...But then it collapses...
What am I doing wrong ? Or how can I build a bridge?

Thank you fellow prospectors.

Is there a current "meta" all-around talent build for solo Open World?

Hi everyone,

I'm not looking for a specialized build (pure combat, farming, mining, building, etc.). Instead, I'm wondering if there's a current "meta" all-around talent build that most experienced players would recommend.

I'm looking for something that:

  • works well throughout the entire game,
  • is good for exploration, gathering, building, and combat,
  • doesn't require frequent respecs,
  • and is generally considered the best all-purpose build.

Or is the current meta to create multiple specialized characters instead?

I'd love to hear what experienced players are using. Thanks!

How do you organize your main base in Open World? Looking for layout ideas

Hi fellow Prospectors,

I'm still fairly new to Icarus and I'm building my first long-term Open World base.

As I unlock more crafting stations, my base is quickly becoming overcrowded. I'm trying to decide whether it's better to:

  • build one large building with everything inside,
  • create several smaller specialized buildings (forge, workshop, kitchen, storage, etc.),
  • or build some kind of connected compound.

I'm looking for ideas from experienced players.

  • How is your base organized?
  • What layout has worked best for you in the long run?
  • If you could start over, what would you do differently?
  • Do you have any screenshots or floor plans you'd be willing to share?

I'd love to build something that's both efficient and looks good.

Thanks!

Newbie question I

Hi guys, I just started playing. Should I start directly open world or do missions first? If I understand it correctly there is no tutorial in open world, and missions are about learning ropes but are time limited ....

Thank you

Hunt for antelope.

Hi Exiles, any idea where can I farm antelopes? I checked wiki, forums and on recommended places I find only gazelles. Gazelles everywhere but no antelopes.

Thx ;)
