[FN] The Flesh is Weak

Aderik's shield groaned in protest as it was pummeled by the minotaur's strikes. The hand holding the shield had already shattered from pushing his brother aside and blocking the beast's charge. The steel clad warrior wanted nothing more than to be anywhere else, to be warm in a tavern and flirting with that redheaded girl that cooks the best stew for miles. But stew costs coin and the brothers had none. Dungeon clearing paid well, but it was dangerous work. Sure the two had their fair share of close calls but they always bounced back, together. Mithito didn't have enough time to cast a protection spell before the minotaur impacted his younger sibling's shield. But now that he was back on his feet, a few hand signs, words from an ancient tongue and a dash of infernal salts, a spiraling mass of flame and sparks shot from Mithito's hands and struck the beast in the chest. The raging monster stumbled back with a vicious roar as its fur and flesh ignited.

"Come little brother." Mithito said, pulling his weary sibling to his feet. "This place smells far too foul to die in." A chuckle echoed from inside Aderik's helmet.

"Yea, though the smell of burning bull fur isn't going to make it smell any better." Aderik looked down at his broken arm. His shield was all he had to fight the bull headed monstrosity in front of them. A Curse of Decay from a lych had rusted his mace to nothing but metal dust. He was also tired, they'd been down in the dungeon for two days and it was taking its toll. The flames were starting to die down, and the Minotaur was still standing.

Aderik stared at the axe the minotaur was welding, he wanted that axe, but he didn't want to be hit by it again. "How long do you need?" He asked, wincing from the pain in his arm.

"15 seconds and try to keep him still" Mithito responded with a smirk.

Aderik sighed at his brother's caviler attitude. "I'll try my best" he said as he charged forward, switching his shield to his unbroken hand and raising it up to meet the beast's unrelenting blow.

The clash of steel on steel rang through the cave's hollow walls as strike after strike pummeled Aderik's shield. One swipe of the Minotaur's axe and Aderik would never taste that savory stew again, and so his heart beat like the drums of a thousand armies, keeping him but inches away from the bladed death. The seconds fell by as slowly as an hourglass on its side. Mithito spoke the infernal words of the incantation that would end this battle. Crushing a glass jar of elemental essence, vines of lightning crackled and split the air around the eldest's intertwined fingers as his hands danced in a tight choreography of energy.

The final second had passed and Mithito called his brother, "He isn't still enough!" Aderik knew his brother could make the shot, but if by some intervention of Fate he had missed, they would be done for. With the last ounce of strength he could muster Aderik launched his shielded arm into the minotaur's jaw, fracturing bone and shattering teeth.

With the creature now dazed, the lightning could find its mark. The lightning ripped through the air and also through the minotaur's chest, scorching the wall behind the beast. The creature fell with a loud crash and both brothers fell to their knees alongside each other.

Mithito rummaged his satchel and produced some cloth and made a makeshift splint from Aderik's beaten shield. Materials for a full restoration spell would be costly and they had only enough rations for one more day. Mithito tightened the straps around Aderik's arm sending spikes of pain through his body. With the helmet hiding his grimaced face,

Aderik asked, "Well brother, do you have one more floor in you?"

They were just one floor away from the dungeon's coveted treasure hoard. But there was no doubt it would be guarded by fierce creatures or unspeakable terrors. Mithito, nearly drained of magic, managed a chuckle.

Handing his brother the ornately crafted axe and answered. "The spirit is willing, little brother. Let's hope our flesh is just as strong"

Is my girl stargazing?

She does this every once in a while. Not often. And she kinda moves while she does it. Like she's looking for something. Her humidity and temp are within nominal range. idk. Her husband doesn't do it

Is there anything out there featuring Gollum or a gollum-like creature?

I looked on YouTube and really couldn't find anything but I've been watching a lot of Dinosaur analog horror and thought that Gollum would be a great character to use.
