The main portion of the film then starts a few months later in early Fall of 2028!
I have a feeling they'll add Agent Carter to the official timeline once VisionQuest releases the same way they added all the Defenders show the day Echo dropped on Disney+
This fits with recent rumors indicating that Children's Crusade will be a subplot of >!Secret Wars!<
The Champions >!reportedly briefly appear in Doomsday before they assemble in Secret Wars!< while Wanda >!is rumored to have been added as a late cameo in Doomsday, since her stunt double was seen on set during the current Doomsday reshoots, with her playing a much bigger role in Secret Wars!<
I live in Greece and shows which premiere episodes on 6 PM PT/9 PM ET show the next day's date on Disney+, because 6 PM PT is 4 AM in Greece's time-zone.
So if it was to be dropping episodes during evenings in the US, it would say "Coming to Disney+ on 15 October 2026".
“He always felt that he didn’t really want to kill Ultron. Ultron was such a threat to humanity and he was so lost, but at the last moment, we’ll find out that Vision showed mercy.”
There's been a lot of misinformation lately about where the MCU is headed post-Secret Wars. Some people have been throwing around the word reboot to indicate there will be a whole new MCU starting with the 2028 X-Men film; although the more common term fans have been using is "soft reboot".
But that term has many different meanings, depending on who you ask or what franchise you're looking at. Jurassic World for example could be considered a soft reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, where the events of the first trilogy have still happened, are referenced multiple times and there are even characters from that trilogy appearing throughout the newer films. But the story of the original trilogy is not necessary knowledge to watch and appreciate the new one.
However, there are also soft reboots like James Bond, where actors are recast, story elements don't stay consistent between eras and there's no hard canon that is being followed.
In both cases however, the bottom line is the same: a soft reboot usually serves to allow writers more creative freedom while mostly maintaining a similar setting that the audience has grown accustomed to.
But as we've established, there are many ways to do a soft reboot and each fan and audience member has a very specific idea in their mind about what a soft reboot is and how that would translate in the context of the MCU. This is exactly why Kevin Feige has confirmed MULTIPLE TIMES that the MCU WON'T BE REBOOTED after Secret Wars.
This is exactly what he had to say:
Variety Interview - July 20th 2025
>“Reboot is a scary word,” he said. “Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines.”
Shanghai Expo - July 11th 2026
>It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that’s easier for audiences to follow. Some aspects will feel familiar. But many, many things will be entirely new.
Happy Sad Confused Podcast - July 22nd 2026
>Josh Horowitz: What does the MCU look like in a nutshell coming out of secret wars? Do you consider this a reboot?
>Kevin Feige: No, but I look to the comics, as I always do, in terms of our storytelling and after both the secret wars, but particularly the the Hickman secret wars from 10 years ago, there's a nice roadmap to where we can go.
The reason he doesn't want to do a reboot is EXACTLY because of the many implications it has and all the different things it might mean to different people, which would set a wide variety of expectations across the board. He's not even using the term "soft reboot"; instead he's saying there will be a "reset".
But what does he mean by "reset"? Well he breaks it down himself in these quotes.
He's talking about a singular timeline (no alternate universes, branches or variants) that is streamlined, simplified and easier to follow.
What this sounds like to me is a new set of stories that will not require casual viewers and newcomers to have watched the 20-year back catalog of the MCU. Simple as that. There's no indication of recasts, retcons or any changes whatsoever to the already established continuity.
And this is exactly what Hickman's Secret Wars did as well. When Franklin Richards puts the universe back together again at the end of that story, he does not make a new universe from scratch, but actually recreates an intact version of Earth-616, the Prime Marvel Comics Continuity, as if the Multiverse collapse had never happened, with very few heroes actually remembering it.
The only big change/retcon was Miles Morales who was integrated in this new 616 as if he had always been there. That means his entire family and supporting cast were integrated as well and their memories were altered to think this was their original universe. Molecule Man, whose energy Franklin used to recreate the cosmos, even brought Miles' mom, Rio, back to life.
The equivalent to Miles in the MCU will probably be the Fantastic Four themselves, along with Deadpool and maybe Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
But in general, this was not an opportunity for Marvel Comics to reboot, or even soft reboot, their universe. It was an opportunity to create a new starting point for newcomers and a more streamlined universe that didn't rely heavily, if at all, on previous knowledge of the characters' histories. This is why the "All New All Different" Era that followed Secret Wars saw Marvel relaunch 65 titles, all starting on Issue #1, indicating to young comic readers that this is where they can start their adventures in this universe.
And since Feige has said that they're planning to follow that roadmap from the comics as well, it only stands to reason that the new universe after Secret Wars will similarly be an exact recreation of the current 616, without unnecessary retcons and continuity changes, apart from the FF always having been part of the universe.
Everybody's coming back! Just because not everybody is in Doomsday doesn't mean Marvel has forgotten about them. The Champions, which people believe have had no appeal at all to general audiences, will reportedly >!have a cameo in Doomsday and play a crucial role in Secret Wars, as the film will partially adapt Children's Crusade and they will need to find Wanda to restore the Multiverse.!<
Similarly, >!Dr. Strange's post-credits scene with Clea will be very important, as it leads to Doom recruiting Strange off-screen after the latter has failed to stop the Incursions, persuading him that his way is the only way to save the world just like he did in the comics. Strange will also have a small role in Doomsday and a larger one in Secret Wars.!<
Even characters like She-Hulk and Skaar will make their return, along with characters who haven't appeared for several years like Wong and Star-Lord.
Of course the main protagonists of Secret Wars will reportedly be >!Tom and Tobey's Spider-Men, Logan, Deadpool, Mr. Fantastic and of course the trio of Doom/Steve/Thor along with Gosling's Ghost Rider, Jonsson's T'Challa II and Jean Grey, setting up the future of the franchise!<, because of their larger popularity. Marvel is not delusional to think the characters on this concept art can carry Secret Wars alone, but they're also apparently not sidelining them at all.
I would also like to see Captain Marvel in this group of resistance fighters in Secret Wars, but she's currently only been rumored for >!a cameo in Doomsday!< and nothing more, so I'm not keeping my hopes way up there.
Moon Knight and the Werewolf by Night crew are the only ones who seem to have been put on the backburner until the eventual Midnight Suns film, but the reason that has taken so long is Blade's production issues and not Marvel "forgetting them".
The only characters we'll probably never see for the foreseeable future are the Eternals and the Secret Invasion cast. But after seeing Tim Blake Nelson's Leader and even Betty Ross 17 years after TIH, I've learnt to never say never.
EDIT: On a related not, for people who are curious after reading this and want more details about the full supposed plot of Doomsday, I recently tried putting together all the various plot leaks which have come from the Russian Telegram breach and other credible leakers. Some stuff is definitely fluff added by random people to fill the gaps, because they are not consistent between the leaks, especially details about the final fight, but the general plot outline is definitely real.
In the comics, Lisa Mollinari was a young girl Tommy Shepherd met in juvie. When she got out, she found a magical coat, which belonged to the Peruvian god Tiboro, and granted her 2 extra pairs of arms. She initially became the hero "Coat of Arms" and assembled her own version of the Young Avengers. She and Tommy shared a mutual attraction with each other when they met each other again outside of juvie. She ended up becoming a mercenary who joined the Young Masters of Evil.
All we know about her in the series is that she will be associated with Tommy, but nothing more.
With Vision being hunted by Paladin and other bounty hunters in this series, I hope we see Sharon Carter being behind it. Giancarlo Esposito's Sidewinder would also be a nice addition, since he said he would be doing a show after Brave New World.
