Seven months later, which do you prefer more? Skills 1.0 or Skills 2.0?

I have to say, I really miss Skills 1.0. They worked perfectly with Armor 2.0, there were skills for speed and gadgets, weapons were more usable without having to rely on skills, and so on. We could reload on the run with any weapon, and we had an infinite double-barreled shotgun if you knew how to kill enemies properly.

There was a problem in that most players used the same skills, and some skills were too powerful, I agree with that.

But after 7 months of playing with Skills 2.0, I realize just how bland they are for me personally and all my friends. They work terribly with Armor 2.0, armor feels like it’s made of cardboard when you use them. To get some of the skills you need, you have to spend points on skills you won’t use. A lot of fun and useful skills are gone. There are a lot of identical skills that just tweak the numbers, and few skills that actually change the gameplay.

I understand the issues with Skills 1.0, but I really miss them. This isn’t just blind nostalgia, I understand what was wrong with them.

I’m just hoping for a rebalance of all armor and most of the skills, because playing Overkill often becomes no fun at all. The game has gotten harder, which is what we wanted. But it's gotten harder for the wrong reasons. Because they took away a lot of the good stuff from us.

The Stealth collection is total crap.

This is the first progression update in a very long time, and I was hoping that SBZ would at least get it right for new players.

But no. The Stealth Collection contains items that you can’t use while in stealth mode unless you want to fail it.

You had one task: to sort the existing content into the correct folders. You can’t even get that right.

Since the latest update, you can customize mask presets.

I don't know if this is a bug or a new feature. It doesn't work with all masks, but it does work with most of them.

Playing with newbies in this game is sometimes just too frustrating.

Before Skills 2.0, you could handle it on your own, but now that enemies have become much more dangerous and all types of armor are much weaker than before, it can be really hard to carry newbies. I don’t want to kick them out of my lobby because they’ve already taken the time to join. I respect them.

But here’s a screenshot showing how one newbie accidentally ruined all my hard work by killing all the hostages with a single grenade, even though my build is based on trading.

Just give us the option to limit player levels in the lobby. At least to 150. Please.

So far, this has been my biggest disappointment throughout the entire third year of PAYDAY 3.

CONTEXT: Longtime PAYDAY 3 players won’t receive a progression update. SBZ will simply organize the existing content into different folders for new players.

I’m starting to suspect I have Stockholm syndrome when it comes to this game.

New players didn't buy the new DLCs while you left players without new updates for many months. New players didn't support you for nearly three years after the disastrous release. New players didn't give you tons of feedback.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to improve the experience for new players, but not when you haven't been able to provide even a basic endgame experience for those who've been with you all this time for the past three years.

The June update is coming next week. I hope they've heard our feedback on progression.

I know some people might say that progression isn’t important—that it’s the gameplay itself that matters. But I disagree.

A lot of people enjoy unlocking new content, even if it’s just cosmetic. It’s a chance to show that you’re a veteran—that you’ve poured a lot of love and time into this game.

I like seeing the ultimate goal and working my way toward it. But the journey without rewards will never feel very meaningful.

I’m really hoping for a progression update for players above level 150. It could give the online player count a big boost, because people will have things to do in the game.

If only new players get the progression update, it will be a slap in the face to those who have supported your game for the past 3 years.

Does Dallas have different faces in the cutscenes and in the game?

I've noticed that Dallas in the cutscenes almost never looks like the Dallas from the game. Maybe it's just a game of light?

I'm not sure about what I'm seeing. What do you think?

I have a strange feeling about PAYDAY 3. Does anyone else feel this way?

This is not a hate post, I just suddenly realized a strange "feeling", and my friends with whom I have been playing since the release feel the same way.

After the release of Skills 2.0 and all these rebalances, the game has become more difficult, but at the same time it seems to be more..rough? Speed skills have disappeared, enemies have become more like sponges for bullets, OVERKILL weapons have lost their power, and armor has become like cardboard. Stealth skills in their current state are just a joke.

I have noticed that I have much less desire to play the game in the first half of 2026 than in the entire year of 2025. All my friends have also left the game in the last six months.

I just want to know how many people are experiencing the same thing.
