I’ve been trying to understand whether Finnair provides pillows in economy class for long-haul flights. Some reviews say that there are no pillows at all, while some say that it’s not true and they’re available upon request. Other reviews say they’re available only for premium economy.

Has anyone flown with them recently? Did they provide pillows in economy? I’m flying with them from Helsinki to Osaka next week.

I went to Japan last year and couldn’t find anything Nana-related, except for a Nana nendoroid in Akihabara. And I of course smoked Seven Stars throughout the trip, and bought a pack of Black Stones Cherry at Donki as a souvenir (the taste is nasty, lol).

I’m going back to Japan in a few days and I’m hoping to find some more merch compared to last year.

I saw a few posts regarding Gachapon in Ikebukuro or Yokohama so I’ll definitely check those out. For those of you who went to Japan recently, did you find some Nana merch? If so, where?

Going back to Japan in exactly a week and can’t sleep right now, so I thought it would be nice to read what other people eat first when they land.

This is my second time going and I’m definitely getting a bowl of ramen as soon as I get to the city centre. I truly miss it and I’d love this to be some sort of “tradition”

I'll be in Japan this August and I'm trying to decide which two of these cities to visit as day trips from Hiroshima. I'll be staying in Hiroshima for a few days, and at the moment I'm leaning towards Onomichi and Iwakuni, but I'd love to hear opinions from people who have actually visited them. I love quiet towns with beautiful scenery, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. I also enjoy visiting temples and historical sites.

For context, on this trip I'll also be visiting Kyoto, Osaka, Kanazawa, Takayama, Matsumoto and Tokyo. Please don't suggest other popular day trips such as Miyajima or Himeji, as I've already visited them on my first trip to Japan :) Thanks in advance!

I had my first rosacea symptoms last year after a 13 hour flight. I’m keeping my flares under control now (kind of) but I’m taking the same flight this August and I’m quite scared to have a massive flare up again.

Do you have any suggestions for face masks that I can leave on my face when I try to sleep? Like one of those masks that you leave on overnight. Thank you :)

Is anyone else playing TP on Dusklight (Mac) with a single joy-con?

Hi everyone,

Huge TP fan here. I have the game running on Dusklight and it’s been amazing so far, except for the fact that I don’t have a controller to play it at the moment. The only compatible thing with my Macbook Air (Intel from 2019, it does run but unfortunately fps are really low) is a Nintendo switch OLED joy-con. My PC doesn’t allow me to use both joy-cons, and I’m stuck in the TP introduction because I can’t fish (there isn’t a button that lets me use the fishing rod).

Is there a way to set up the joy-con that can bypass this problem? I know you can assign buttons in Dusklight settings but I’m kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff.

If anyone is playing TP with a single joy-con and has any tips, they’re welcomed! Thanks in advance :)

I’m a PhD applicant from Italy (in Psychology), and I’m feeling a bit desperate right now. I have two oral examinations tomorrow and Tuesday for my top two PhD choices at an Italian university.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Italian PhD admission process, but it usually involves two stages. First, applicants are evaluated based on their qualifications (CV, research proposal, thesis, recommendation letters, and motivation letter). If you pass that stage, you move on to an oral interview, where your project and your fit with the programme are assessed. The interview dates are fixed and the same for all applicants.

On Friday, I woke up with some pain in my lower gum around a wisdom tooth, so I went to the dentist. He told me that I would need a small gum surgery and that another wisdom tooth would eventually need to be removed as well. When I explained that I had PhD interviews coming up, he advised me to wait until Wednesday because the procedure would likely leave me swollen and unable to speak clearly.

Unfortunately, despite taking the anti-inflammatory medication he prescribed, the pain has become much worse. At this point, I can’t fully open my mouth when I speak, and it’s quite noticeable that I’m struggling. Also, talking non-stop for several minutes causes me pain, and I have to catch a few breaks.

Do you think I should briefly mention this at the beginning of the interview? Or maybe it’s best to mention it at the end? I care a lot about getting into one of these programmes, and the timing couldn’t be worse. I’m worried that the pain and difficulty speaking might negatively affect the interview outcome.

I'm planning to go Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival this August, but I can't really find the informations I need on the official website.

• Do I have to buy tickets in advance? I don't know how expensive they might be, and I don't need to be in a front row or something like that, so I was thinking about heading over to Tateishi park at 5 pm and watch them from there (huge Your Name fan).
• Google maps says that it's a 28 minute walk from Kami-Suwa station to Tateishi Park. Do you think I'll still be able to catch a train to Matsumoto after the fireworks? Do trains run later because of the festival, considering it usually attracts over half a million people?

These questions are mainly for people who have actually been to the festival. I know traffic and crowds will be crazy, so I'm just trying to understand whether my plan is feasible or if I'll end up stranded in Suwa for the night without a place to sleep, haha.

PS: if you've been there and you have any tips, feel free to share! I see very little infos about this festival here on this sub.

I’ll be travelling to Japan this August and I’m currently planning part of my itinerary around the Japanese Alps. I’ll go to Takayama from Kanazawa on the morning of August 12th. I need to be in Matsumoto by the 15th because I’d love to attend the Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival, but I’m struggling to decide between two options:

Option 1:

• Takayama: night of Aug 12–13
• Hirayu Onsen ryokan: night of Aug 13–14
• Matsumoto: arrive late morning on Aug 14

This would give me about half a day and the following morning in Matsumoto before going to Lake Suwa for the fireworks, and 1.5 days in Takayama city.

Option 2:

• Stay in Takayama for 2.5 days (Aug 12–14)
• Hirayu Onsen ryokan: night of Aug 14–15
• Go directly to Matsumoto on Aug 15 for the fireworks

In this case, I was thinking about visiting Matsumoto Castle the next morning before leaving for Tokyo.

I had originally planned the first option, but the more I read about Takayama, the more it interests me. I love learning about Japanese culture and seeing traditional architecture, I'm a foodie and enjoy walking in natural sceneries if that helps. If you've been there, how many days would you recommend? Thanks a lot!

I'll be in Japan in August and I planned an itinerary around the Hokuriku region and the Japanese Alps (Kanazawa, Toyama, Nagano, Matsumoto) during Obon. I'll reach Kanazawa from Osaka with the Thunderbird Limited Express and Hokuriku Shinkansen (changing at Tsuruga) on the 10th of August. However, on the JR West website it says that the one-way discounted ticket (8000 yen) can be purchased at ticket vending machines, but I won't be in Japan until July 30th.

Has anyone travelled to those cities during Obon? If so, do tickets for the Hokuriku Shinkansen actually sell out in those dates?

Moreover, I'm planning on buying also the other train tickets on JR West website. Do you have any other suggestions? I also saw train tickets for Osaka-Kanazawa on Trip but I'm not sure if it's a good idea, I've always bought them with SmartEX for peace of mind.

In questi giorni farò domanda per il dottorato in neuroscienze/psicologia cognitiva/neuropsicologia.

Solitamente cosa chiedono al colloquio orale? Qual è stata la vostra esperienza? Chiedo più che altro per curiosità e capire se solitamente la commissione si concentri più su domande inerenti alla metodologia, alla teoria o alla persona che ha davanti (magari per capire se il fit con l’ambito accademico sia buono).

Mi sta salendo un po’ l’agitazione per questa selezione, a volte sento dire che dipende tutto dal progetto e dall’orale, e altre volte che invece il colloquio è solo una formalità e hanno già deciso prima, parlandone con il prof che vuole essere il tuo supervisore.
