Those who have built apps or startups before, how did you find your cofounders or early team?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently serving NS in Singapore and working on a startup project called PEAPOD. I've already built a working prototype myself using AI assisted development, and I'm now at the stage where I need to build a proper technical foundation and bring a small team together.

I'm looking for a handful of people who are interested in building something from the ground up. Specifically, I'm looking for people with experience or interest in:

React Native and app development

UI UX and Figma

Game and 3D design

Backend and software architecture

AI development

I'm not looking for a large team. I'd much rather have 3 to 5 genuinely committed people who want to learn, build and grow together.

I'm currently serving NS, so I don't have the capital to offer conventional salaries at this stage. The initial arrangement would therefore be based around equity or revenue share. The expectation isn't for anyone to work full time for free. I want people who can build this alongside their studies, NS or existing commitments and gradually see where we can take it.

I've tried looking internationally before, but I've realised I'd much rather build locally with people who are at a similar stage of life. Being able to actually meet up, work together and grow alongside each other is something I value quite a lot.

I'm planning to start university after NS, so I'm particularly interested in meeting students and recent graduates from NTU, SIT, NUS or other local universities who are interested in startups and actually want to build something.

I'm keeping the details of the actual product relatively private for now, but I'm happy to explain the idea and show the prototype privately to anyone who is genuinely interested.

For those who have built a startup, app or project in Singapore before, where did you actually find your early team or cofounders?

University programmes? Hackathons? Networking events? Reddit? Discord or Telegram groups? Friends? Something else?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to meet a small number of serious people rather than just getting a huge number of random enquiries.

Thanks!

Looking for 1–2 React Native developers to build PEAPOD with me

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for 1–2 mobile developers who are interested in joining me to build an early-stage product called PEAPOD.

This isn't a paid freelance gig or a request to build an app from scratch based on a vague idea. I already have a working MVP/prototype and have spent a significant amount of time working on the product concept, features and direction. I'm now looking for developers who can help turn it into a proper, production-ready application.

What is PEAPOD?

PEAPOD is a social app focused on helping couples, friends and families stay connected.

The idea is to combine things such as:

- Group/private communication

- Shared activities and experiences

- Memories

- Milestones and countdowns

- Location/contextual features

- Gamification

- A small farming/game system tied into real-life interaction

The core idea is that staying connected shouldn't just mean sending messages. PEAPOD is designed to give people more reasons to interact, create memories and participate in each other's lives.

It's based on a real problem I've personally experienced, rather than something I came up with purely as a business idea.

Current state

I already have a functional MVP.

It is currently good enough to demonstrate the concept and user flow, but it is not production-ready.

The next stage is essentially rebuilding/refactoring the important parts properly:

MVP → proper architecture → beta → real users → iterate

I'm looking for someone who wants to be involved in that process rather than just completing isolated development tasks.

Technical side

The main mobile stack will be:

- React Native

- TypeScript

- Backend/API

- Database

- Authentication

- Real-time functionality

- Push notifications

- Cloud infrastructure

Backend is particularly important.

I'm not looking for someone who only wants to work on the screens. We need to establish a proper backend architecture that can support the social, real-time and gamification aspects of the product.

If you're primarily a React Native developer but have some backend experience and are interested in expanding into it, that's completely fine.

I'm more interested in your ability to think through technical problems and build things properly than whether your CV has every technology listed.

What I'm looking for

Ideally, someone who:

- Has experience with React Native

- Is comfortable with TypeScript

- Understands mobile architecture

- Has some backend/API experience

- Can work independently

- Is comfortable communicating asynchronously

- Is interested in product development, not just coding tickets

You don't need 5+ years of professional experience.

A strong student developer or someone early in their career who has built several serious projects could be a great fit.

About me

I'm currently serving NS in Singapore and will be starting NTU Business after I ORD.

My academic background is in Banking & Finance, but I've been working on the product and development side of PEAPOD myself.

I'm essentially the person driving the product vision, business direction and overall concept. I'm now looking for technical people who can help me take the product significantly further.

Compensation / commitment

I want to be completely transparent:

There is currently no salary.

This is an early-stage passion project and I don't currently have funding to pay developers upfront.

I'm looking for people who are interested in potentially becoming part of the founding team, rather than freelancers doing unpaid work.

The compensation/ownership structure would be discussed openly before anyone commits to anything. I'm not interested in vague promises about "you'll get equity if we become successful."

If we decide to work together, I'd want the arrangement to be properly discussed and documented.

I'm also not expecting someone to suddenly work full-time on this. I'm looking for people who can realistically commit some consistent time alongside their studies/work.

Why I'm doing this

I've tried looking for experienced developers internationally before.

I realised that what I'm actually looking for isn't necessarily the person with the most impressive resume.

I'd rather find someone who genuinely likes building products, believes there is something interesting here and wants to grow alongside the project.

I'm intentionally keeping the initial team very small.

The goal isn't to create a giant Discord server with 30 contributors.

I'd rather have 1–2 strong developers who actually care about what we're building.

If PEAPOD goes nowhere, at least we'll have built something real and learned a lot.

If it works, I'd like the people who helped build it from the beginning to have a meaningful place in that journey.

Interested?

If PEAPOD sounds interesting, feel free to DM me.

I'd be happy to show you the current MVP, explain the architecture/product direction and answer any questions about the project before you decide whether it's something you'd want to be involved in.

I'm not expecting a polished portfolio or years of experience.

I'm looking for people who want to build something real.

Looking for experienced app developers & technical builders to join an ambitious consumer startup (Equity / Revenue Share)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently building PEAPOD, a consumer mobile platform designed for couples, families, and close friend groups.

The closest comparison would be Life360, but that's only where the comparison starts. The long-term vision is much broader—bringing communication, organisation, shared experiences, memories, engagement, and everyday interactions into one platform instead of relying on multiple separate apps.

Over the past few months, I've built a functional proof of concept to validate the product direction, user flows, and overall concept. It has served its purpose, and the next phase is to rebuild everything properly with a production-ready architecture, scalable infrastructure, and strong engineering practices.

Why I'm posting

After speaking with startup founders, CTOs, senior engineers, product designers, and technical advisors, I realised something important:

A great product isn't built by one person. It's built through constant discussion, healthy debate, and experienced people challenging each other's ideas.

I come from a business and product background. My strengths lie in product strategy, vision, branding, growth, fundraising, partnerships, and bringing the right people together.

I'm not looking for people who will simply build whatever I ask for.

I'm looking for people who will:

- Challenge assumptions.

- Discuss technical trade-offs.

- Influence architecture decisions.

- Help shape the roadmap.

- Think long-term.

Who I'm looking for

I'm primarily looking for experienced:

- Mobile Engineers (Flutter / React Native / Native)

- Backend Engineers

- Full-Stack Engineers

- Technical Architects

- Startup CTOs / Technical Co-Founders

- Product Engineers

Experience building consumer products, SaaS platforms, or scalable mobile applications is a huge plus.

Communication is just as important as technical ability

One thing I've learnt while speaking to many people is that communication makes or breaks an early-stage startup.

I'm not expecting anyone to spend every day working on PEAPOD.

I completely understand everyone has full-time jobs, studies, businesses, and personal commitments.

What I do expect is:

- Honest communication.

- Constructive discussions.

- Challenging ideas.

- Consistency.

- Reliability.

I'd rather work with someone who contributes 5 quality hours every week than someone who disappears after the first conversation.

The goal is to build a small core team that genuinely enjoys solving difficult problems together.

Compensation

I want to be completely transparent from the start.

At this stage, there is no salary.

Over the past few months, I've been personally funding the validation phase of PEAPOD and building the proof of concept. Right now, my priority is getting the product, technical foundation, and core team right before seeking external funding.

Rather than making promises I can't realistically keep, I'd rather be upfront about where the project stands.

For those who decide to come on board, any long-term collaboration would be structured around equity and/or future revenue sharing, depending on your role, contribution, and level of commitment. Everything would be discussed openly before any work begins.

I completely understand this won't suit everyone, and that's perfectly okay.

Why join?

If you're looking for freelance work, this probably isn't the right opportunity.

However, if you genuinely enjoy building startups from the ground up, you'll have the opportunity to:

- Help shape the technical architecture from day one.

- Influence major product decisions.

- Work directly with the founder.

- Join a small core team where every opinion matters.

- Build a product with global ambitions.

- Potentially grow alongside the company if we're successful.

There are also several long-term product ideas, retention strategies, and monetisation concepts that I'm intentionally keeping confidential for now, as I believe they form part of PEAPOD's competitive advantage.

Interested?

If this resonates with you, feel free to send me a DM with:

- Your background.

- Your current role.

- Projects you've worked on.

- Technologies you're strongest in.

- Why this opportunity interests you.

Even if we don't end up working together, I'm always happy to connect with experienced builders, exchange ideas, and grow our networks.

Let's build something meaningful.

Building a Consumer Startup – Looking for Experienced Builders

Hi everyone,

I'm currently building an ambitious consumer mobile startup and I'm looking to connect with experienced builders who enjoy taking products from an idea to a scalable business.

The closest comparison would be Life360, but the long-term vision is significantly broader. I already have a fully functional MVP (frontend + backend), but it's currently a prototype built to validate ideas rather than a production-ready application.

I'm now entering the stage where I'm rebuilding the product with a strong technical and design foundation before preparing for public launch and fundraising.

I'm particularly interested in connecting with people who have experience in:

  • Building and shipping production applications
  • Scaling consumer products
  • Early-stage startups
  • Product thinking and technical leadership
  • Working in distributed, international teams

Roles I'm looking for include:

  • Senior Mobile Engineers (Flutter / React Native / Native)
  • Senior Backend Engineers
  • Product Designers / UI/UX Designers
  • Product Thinkers
  • Gamification / Engagement Designers
  • Technical Leads / Architects
  • Startup Advisors

I'm not looking for someone to simply execute a feature list. I value people who enjoy questioning assumptions, thinking strategically, solving difficult problems, and helping shape both the product and the business.

Current Stage

  • Functional MVP completed
  • Small core team currently being formed
  • Legal foundations (NDA, IP agreements, etc.) being finalised before development begins
  • No external funding yet

Because the project is currently self-funded, there is no upfront salary at this stage. Long-term collaboration would be structured around equity and/or future revenue sharing depending on the role, contribution, and commitment. Everything will be discussed transparently before any work begins.

If you've taken products from MVP to production, built startups, or have experience scaling consumer software, I'd genuinely love to connect. Even if you're not interested in joining, I'd still value your feedback and perspective.

Feel free to comment or send me a DM. Happy to share more about the product after an initial conversation.

Early-stage founder looking for investor feedback before fundraising

Hi everyone,

I'm a founder based in Singapore currently building a consumer mobile app in the family/social space.

The closest comparison would be Life360, but the long-term vision is much broader. The product focuses on helping families, couples, and friend groups stay connected, communicate, and organise different aspects of their daily lives in one platform.

Over the past few months I've built a fully functional MVP, tested it with early users, and I'm now assembling the core founding team to rebuild it into a production-ready product with the right technical foundation.

I'm not actively raising capital today. Instead, I'm looking to learn from experienced angel investors, operators, or founders who have been through this stage before.

I'd love feedback on questions like:

At what point would you consider a startup like this investable?

What traction or metrics would you expect before a pre-seed conversation?

What are the biggest mistakes first-time consumer founders make when approaching investors?

What would make you take a second meeting?

If anyone is open to sharing their perspective, I'd really appreciate it. My goal is to build something worth investing in before I start a proper fundraising process.

Thanks in advance!

[RevShare] Looking for a Game Developer / Game Designer Interested in an Early-Stage Startup

Hi everyone!

I'm currently building a consumer mobile app and have a working MVP with a small group of users already testing it.

As part of the product, I'm exploring a lightweight game layer that complements the core experience. I'm intentionally keeping the details private for now, but the focus is on creating meaningful progression, engagement, and long-term retention rather than building a standalone game.

I'm currently serving National Service in Singapore, so I don't have the funds to hire at this stage. Instead, I'm looking for someone who's excited by the idea of building something from the ground up and would be interested in discussing a long-term collaboration or technical co-founder role if we work well together.

Whether you're a:

- 🎮 Game Developer / Gameplay Programmer

- 🎨 Game Designer

- 🖌️ Game UI/UX Designer

- ⚖️ Systems or Economy Designer

I'd love to connect if you enjoy designing engaging experiences, progression systems, player psychology, or game economies.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to send me a DM. I'd be happy to share more about the vision privately and get to know you as well.

Looking for a UI/UX Designer Interested in Building an Early-Stage Startup

Hi everyone!

I'm currently building a consumer mobile app and have a working MVP that's already usable with a small group of testers.

I'm currently serving National Service in Singapore, so I don't have the funds to hire a designer at this stage. Instead, I'm hoping to find someone who's genuinely interested in joining an early-stage startup and potentially becoming a long-term design partner if we work well together.

The app is centred around helping people stay connected, and I've spent a lot of time thinking about the overall product vision and user experience. While I have a working interface, I know there's a huge difference between something that works and something that feels polished, intuitive, and delightful to use.

I'm looking for someone who enjoys:

- Designing clean, modern mobile interfaces

- Thinking deeply about user flows and interactions

- Creating intuitive onboarding experiences

- Building products that people genuinely enjoy using

- Working closely with a founder to shape a product from an early stage

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd love to chat and see if we're a good fit. Feel free to send me a DM!

Looking for a Game Developer / Game Designer Interested in Building a Startup

Hi everyone!

I'm currently building a consumer mobile app and have a working MVP that's already usable. Alongside the core product, I'm exploring the idea of incorporating a lightweight game layer to improve engagement and retention in a way that feels natural rather than intrusive.

I'm currently serving National Service in Singapore, so I don't have the funds to hire developers at this stage. Instead, I'm hoping to find someone who's genuinely excited about building an early-stage startup together and would be interested in discussing a technical co-founder role if we click.

I'm looking for someone who enjoys thinking about progression systems, reward loops, game economies, player psychology, and long-term engagement. This isn't about building a standalone game—it's about designing game mechanics that complement a larger consumer product.

If that sounds interesting, I'd love to chat, exchange ideas, and see if we're a good fit. Feel free to send me a DM!
