Legionary squads built from corsairs and heresy parts.

My warband are meant to have a more renegade and OLD look, scavenged wargear from as far back as MKII

This is 2 squads of 5 legionaries.

2x aspiring champions with a heavy melee weapon and plasma pistol

2x heavy bolters

6x boltguns

8x bolt pistols

My warband have a split heritage, half of them are fallen dark angels and the other half are space wolves.

Are these acceptable chaos chosen proxies?

So I’m not very fond of the chaos chosen miniatures, and my heretic astartes army is meant to have a more renegade look. So I made these guys, primarily using is sword brethren minis.

I made sure to give them the same weapons as the chosen.

A chosen champion with a boltgun, plasma pistol and accursed weapon (power maul)

A chosen with a boltgun, power fist and bolt pistol

A chosen with paired accursed weapons (twin swords) and a bolt pistol

And 2 chosen with an accursed weapon, boltgun and bolt pistol (one with an axe and the other with a “power blade” in the form of the ice Dirk from the wolf priest)

First legionary squad is done

My first legionary squad (built from the red Corsair raiders kit because I prefer the old armour) is now done!

My homebrew warband “the heralds of the red star” are a malice aligned chaos warband still clad in their ancient armour od the heresy era.

The warband has a split heritage of dark angels and space wolves.

WIP master of executions update.

I made them some antlers using wire and sprue goo, I beat up their outfit and added some bones and bits to give them that more grimy chaos look.

Work in progress master of executions

I’m working on my master of executions for my renegade warband.

“Valomyre the lightless” and his axe “winters end”

My warband has a split heritage of dark angels and space wolves who now serve the renegade god malice.

Since he’s an ancient founding member of the warband I’m leaving on the space wolf decor, I’m just going to beat them up a bit.

I’m gonna sculpt deer antlers onto the hooded wolf skull helmet and greenstuff the axe so it lines up nicely.

This guy is gonna be HARD to paint

The corruption of my homebrew warband

Okay so I’ve been working on some lore for my warband.

I’ve been thinking up a “curse” for my warband, something that shows their corruption and age.

*the fracturing*
Also known as
*malice’s claim*

Those who are weaker of body and mind slowly begin to unravel, their flesh begins to blacken and splinter, black cracks slowly split and spread across the skin like broken porcelain or splintering wood, slowly but surely floating away from the body and into the immaterial realm.

this warp degradation often occurs at the “edges” of the body such as:
-the ears
-The fingertips
-The knuckles
-The knees
-The cheeks
-The brow
-The shoulders
-And the heel.

The thin strips of blackened flesh float after the body they originated from like a cloud of black dust, some parts are reduced to a fine dust while others fall off in long splinters or even thin strips.

It is widely believed among the Heralds that the Fracturing marks the slow strengthening of Malice’s claim upon the soul, drawing the afflicted ever closer to his frozen realm. Whether this ends in consumption, transformation, or something stranger remains unknown.

Members of the warband who suffer the fracturing for enough time without being fully claimed by the renegade god are stripped of their equipment so that it may be used by newer members of the warband. The afflicted but still alive member is then cast into the cold frozen forest of malice’s realm to wander, either to become a beast of the warp, or be consumed by the realm’s ethereal frozen forest.

Though few members of the warband also believe that the fracturing is not malice “consuming” the afflicted marine.

Some believe they are being “rewritten” transformed into warp ghosts or beasts of malice’s design.

Some believe that they are not being consumed by the Forrest, but becoming part of it as an eternal member. There are whispers that some of the frozen trees bear residual faces of the afflicted, some of the thistles and thorned bushes rattle with black splinters for pollen.

The true nature of the fracturing is not fully known to the heralds. Not even to their most senior sorcerer.

However the fracturing is not only physical to the member’s body

In more “matured” cases of the fracturing, the black dusty fissures are even seen on armour and wargear.

Those who are deeply afflicted slowly become unstable, their speech starts to become distorted and cut, words are pronounced with missing syllables, connective words are skipped.

However the heralds seek no remedy or countermeasures to the fracturing
They know that their end is inevitable, and they know that delaying what malice desires will only bring them greater and lengthened pain.

Another legionary painted

A second legionary is painted.
I wanted to make this one look more dark angel so I decided to give them a severed dark angel symbol on his leg plate as a display of his heritage.
Super proud of this guy

First legionary painted

Super proud of this legionary.
I decided to add runic decals since my warband has a shared heritage of space wolves and dark angels.
I hand painted the shoulder symbols.

Since this legionary squad are the melee focussed squad I’m giving them the splintered blade symbol.

Another raptor finished

I finished this raptor because I didn’t want to leave him half done before I started mass painting like 15 minis.

He’s a lil rushed but I’m okay with it.

Where to start on lore?

So I’m new to monster hunter in general.
I obviously know the gameplay of the monster hunter games, you kill big monsters and harvest their parts to produce stronger gear.

I’ve only recently picked up monster hunter wilds. I’m following the story just fine however I’m lacking a lot of contexts. I know about the hunters guild, I know that there were “ancient civilisations” and that there are is VAST roster of unique monsters. But that’s really all I know.

Are there any good videos I could watch that can teach me the overarching lore on the monster hunter universe?

Warband “legionaries” built and ready to paint.

my first squad of legionaries (built from red corsair raiders because I prefer the old armour) is built and ready to prime
Obviously I’m painting the power packs and head separately
I made sure to look at what legionaries can take on the tabletop using the Warhammer app. I’m just hoping these “proxies” don’t cause any problems 😅

Aspiring champion with a heavy melee weapon (represented with a chain wrapped power maul) and a plasma pistol.

A legionary with a heavy weapon (again represented with a power maul) and bolt pistol

A legionary with a chainsword and bolt pistol

2 legionaries with bolt guns

Homebrew warband terminators built and primed

I wanted my terminators to have that “renegade” look the red corsairs have, unfortunately you can’t really armour swap that well with terminators because there’s only 4 different armour types.

I did my best by stripping some of the spiky trim and giving them a bunch of bonding studs.

More eclipse designs

I made 2 more eclipse cars since I had sold a bunch of parts I don’t want anymore and I could by new stuff.

The first car is monarch, armed with 2 vendetta rail cannons.

And the second one is poltergeist, armed with 2 exodus burst railguns and a yeti cloaking device

Jump pack heralds champion

Just finished the first mini for my murderwing kill team, built and painted in the style of my homebrew warbands

u/LUTHER_7274 — 2 months ago

My eclipse designs

I’m absolutely loving the new faction and their vehicle parts so here are some designs I made for them (I will be making more when I finish the whole battle pass)

I have named them:

Flayer: armed with 2 extremum shotguns

Phantom: armed with the exodus burst railgun

Rumbler: armed with a vendetta rail cannon

Recon: a smaller and faster vehicle also armed with a vendetta rail cannon.

I’m really hoping this faction gets more parts soon so I can keep building these.

What do I need to start learning tabletop?

I’ve been collecting and painting for about 4 years now, and usually I just build and kitbash and paint whatever I think is cool.

But now I really want to get into actually playing the tabletop game, and I decided to start out with a night lords army.

I’ve bought the murderwing kill team and I’m currently working on them so I can get used to tabletop by first learning killteam, and then I’ll work my way to full proper tabletop battles.

So I ask you all, what is a good “starter” night lords army to get? Should I first build a 500 point army to learn through smaller games and then build the full 2000 army?

Another herald of the red star painted

This is the “heavy” of the group sporting an old shield and a twin linked bolter. The pattern on the shield is the “severed circle” a symbol that represents the warband’s desire to destroy cycles and disrupt order.
