Buying a 4003s with Missing Treble Cover - Never played a Ric before - Replace or install Bridge pickup ring V2?

Howdy!

I'm buying this 4003s this weekend from the original owner. It's been babied, but he lost the treble pickup cover at some point

It's way more bass than I need right now, but I can't pass it up! I noodled on it in the parking lot when we met and it felt great! We're going to meet at my guitar tech buddy's house so he can check it out before handing him the cash.

Beyond a couple minutes in the parking lot, I've never played a Ric. This is actually the first one I've ever touched.

Is it worth it to buy a treble cover to see if I like it or should I just proceed directly to getting the new bridge pickup ring?

I understand the new pickup ring means new holes, so it's a permanent move.

Is there anyone who has removed their treble cover and would sell it / loan it out for a few weeks? (I'm in Vegas.) I'd hate to waste the money and effort tracking one down then not use it, but you don't know until you know.

Thanks!

"Dumb" Scarlett 2i4 (2015) >>> Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen (2020) on Mac

Just an FYI for any future Mac users.

I misplaced my Real Tone Cable and am not willing to pay highway robbery prices for the real or knockoffs.

I dug out my pawn shop special 2020 Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen USB - C to use Direct Connection. It had a *horrible* buzz that prevented Rocksmith 2014 from picking up any useful sound. No software configuration changes resolved the issue.

However, it sounded perfect when recording to Audacity.

I tried everything I could find, always with the same results: so little signal and so much buzz that it was worthless. Four different known good data cables, directly connected and with different USB adapters, all garbage in Rocksmith.

Then, I found my older, dumb (no config on the Mac) 2i2 with a standard USB-B port. **FLAWLESS VICTORY**

It's working perfectly.

I hope that helps someone down the road!

Foil in Float Frame = Phenomenal!

Hope this helps someone!

(No polarizing filter for my camera so I had to take the picture at an angle to avoid reflections.)

We're not Poster People, but the foil weekend 3 variant just blew me away. I knew I didn't want to cover up *any* of the electricity from the poster's base.

Poked around in the frame section and finally realized that the demo insert in this frame was 18x24, so this poster would be the same width, but with 1.5" off the top and bottom.

It's just *stunning*. It catches your eye every time anyone goes up or down the stairs.

Pretty cheap, too! $38 at Michael's.

Kudos to the people who created these!

As a long time Vegas resident and former stagehand, I would *lurrrrv* to have one, if you still have any at the show tonight (or buy if they're available at Shakedown).

If anyone could point me in that direction, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Are you still trying to figure out what to do with your Sphere weekend poster?

It's nigh on impossible to find a 15x24 frame for a decent price. Custom framing is going to run you more than the poster itself. You can try to use one of those "dual glass" frames and suspend it in the middle, but they're not cheap, either.

The custom frame lady came up with this idea. This is a standard 18x24 frame from Michael's (that's currently BOGO or 50% off). We picked out a complementary color (just happened to be "Tealy Dan"!), she cut a custom mat, and assembled it.

BOOM

Looks like a custom frame job for a fraction of the price. It was $72 out the door for this and another 18x24 frame.

Best of both worlds, IMHO!
