After 10 years, my ridiculous banana obsession finally has 48 hours left. 🍌

About 10 years ago I got annoyed during a game night because I spent more time waiting for my turn than actually playing.

For some reason, my brain decided the logical solution was:

"Make an entire card game about monkeys stealing bananas where nobody has to wait their turn."

A decade later... somehow that joke has become a real game called Bananarchy.

It's full of banana puns, mischievous monkeys, rotten bananas, sabotage, and enough potassium to make your doctor slightly concerned.

We're down to our final 48 hours on Kickstarter, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who has encouraged the ridiculous banana content over the years. This is probably the most supportive place on Reddit for people with an unhealthy fascination with bananas.

If you'd like to see what happens when someone spends ten years taking bananas far too seriously, here's the campaign.

Either way, thanks for proving that there are enough banana enthusiasts on the internet to make this seem like a reasonable life decision.

Stay ripe. 🍌

Need some art feedback!

Our artist provided some drafts for two different cards for the Bananarchy Mystery Monkey expansion.

  1. Maltese Monkey

  2. A Crime Scene (I definitely need suggesitons for a more fitting monkey name)

For both cards, which draft do you like better and why?

Also if you have suggestions on anything to change or add please let me know so I can pass it along to our artist.

New Reward! Adopt a Monkey!

We are Sponsoring a Monkey! We just unlocked a new reward on our Bananarchy Kickstarter Campaign and I wanted to share it with everyone because I am so excited about it! Look how adorable they are!

We've got a fun activity where backers can vote on which one to adopt on our latest Update #13.

Monkeys and their shenanigans were one of our biggest inspirations and I thought it was only fair to give back to the Monkeys.

Looking for ideas on what this card should do?

Hey folks! Need feedback on this card for our game Bananarchy.

- What do you think of the title?

- Any changes to the art to improve it?

- What would this card do?

The game is all about trying to collect the most points in Banana cards using Monkey cards to snatch, steal, smash, or otherwise sabotage the other players.

Monkey Cards have four types: Action that can only be played on the players turn, Anytime that can be played anytime, Reaction to block players, and Scoring which are hidden cards to add value at the end of the game.

Need ideas for what this card should do!

Hello folks! I am looking for feedback on this card. It's for our game Bananarchy and the idea is players use Monkey Cards to collect Banana cards. Most Banana Cards have a value of 0, 1, 2 or 3 and if they get smashed all Banana Cards turn over to -1 on the back.

The game is fast paced and chaotic and players can play at anytime to steal or sabotage their opponents. I need an idea of what this card could do if it got smashed. I'm worried if the effect is too crazy, like making everyones bananas rotten, it might result in the game being too unbalanced since the scores will quickly become negative.

Also do you think the art is radioactive looking enough?

Thanks for the help, the monkeys and I appreciate it!

Need ideas for Science Themed Monkey or Banana cards

I've designed a card game called Bananarchy and there is an expansion pack called Chaos Theory. I'm looking for new ideas that are science themed that would be fun to have the Monkey characters doing. Help me reddit! Looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

ps. The art you see is the actual art for the game to give you an idea of what it looks like and the cartoony style. It was hand drawn and is not AI.

What things do you do to engage your community especially during the mid campaign slump?

The mid campaign slump can really drag interest away from a campaign. I want to keep people checking back and constantly interested in the comments and updates on the page and engage them in unlocking stretch goals. However, I'm really struggling with finding creative questions to ask them that gets them to engage with me on my page.

What I have done so far. The campaign includes a Banana Revolution where participants are trying to liberate stretch goal upgrades from General Peel (a monkey General in charge of the Banana Republic). In order to do this, I want them to comment, or be otherwise mischievous on the comments section of the page.

I think the idea is solid but I am having a tough time getting tangible things for participants to do.

Aside from this campaign what else could I do to help promote the Bananarchy? What have other people done that is effective in getting the community commenting?

Help! Is it worth creating a 2 player or Solo variation of my game?

Hello design folks! I have created a party card game called Bananarchy which is meant for 3 to 8 players. The idea is you smash, stash, snack, and sabotage your way to the most bananas before the deck runs out. Cards are interactive, many can be played anytime, and often bounce off what other players have done to create chain reactions.

Lately, I've noticed a ton of people are playing 2 player games and also solo variants of games. Do you think it's worth me designing variants for this game? Or do you think I lean into the Party Game experience?

If you do think a solo or 2 player variant is good, do you have any suggestions how to tackle it? I don't want to make a subpar product.

Rules sheet is here if you are interested in more of the game mechanic details: https://pickupandplaygames.com/rulebook.pdf

I just launched my first ever game all about monkeys collecting bananas and I thought that this group might appreciate it. Would you play this game or am I totally bananas for launching something like this? :P

Has anyone else been having issues with Campaign Previews not showing rewards?

I am preparing to launch my Kickstarter and want to share the launch page preview with people to get feedback. However, currently the page does not display any of the rewards. The section is entirely blank! I've contacted Kickstarter and all they have said is that they are working on it. I want to know if this is a larger issue or it's just my page. I'm supposed to go live in 4 days and this seems concerning!

Need feedback on the How to Play section of our Kickstarter to provide to our artist.

Our artist is going to do final touch ups on the How to Play section of our Bananarchy Kickstarter page. I've looked at it so many times I think I'm going cross eyed. :P Looking to get feedback on the flow and if everything makes sense. Also any spelling or art things I may have missed would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Launching my first ever business on Kickstarter in 7 days! What advice do you have for a first timer?

After years of creating games in my spare time as a hobby I am finally launching my business with my first ever card game, Bananarchy! The release is on Kickstarter in just seven days!

As I get closer and closer to the date of the launch I'm curious what veteran founders have for advice? What final details should I focus on now and also for the future to ensure this is a long lasting success and something I can be proud to call my career for years to come? Thanks in advance for all your insights. I truly appreciate every one.

Seven days to go until my Kickstarter launch! Who else is going crazy prepping?

Thank you to the community for helping me me share my first ever game Bananarchy! As a small indie developer who initially had no intention of ever launching a game I can't believe it's only 7 days away from going live on Kickstarter! It feels surreal!

The creator of this community was kind enough to invite me onto the podcast to be one of the inaugural episodes and I am really looking forward to seeing it come out. In the meantime, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far whether with advice, support, or with a simple follow and share. Your support means a lot to me!

Looking for insight about where people find places to publish articles about their product.

I'm in the process of Kickstarting a Party Card game called Bananarchy. A lot of the sources I am reading about what to do next say I should get articles about my product published to generate buzz. So my questions:

Where do I find media outlets willing to cover my kickstarter or product?
Do people typically pay for articles or are their places to submit articles or press release information to have published for free?
What and how do I submit press release info to traditional media?
Are there any media places I am potentially overlooking?

Any insights here would be helpful as this is my first ever Kickstarter launch and I've never done this part before.

Help! Need opinions on which card art looks better?

I'm making a card game called Bananarchy and this is for a card named "Closed" with the idea that the Monkey can't get anymore bananas because the shop is all closed up. Which of A or B do you like better? Also please tell me why so I can understand your reasoning?

If you have any art critiques or changes I welcome those as well as I can ask the artist to make changes if need be.

For reference, if you want you can compare the art style to our current game art here: https://bananarchylaunch.pickupandplaygames.com/

First time creating a game in Table Top Simulator! Anyone interested in trying it out?

Hey folks! I'm brand new to using Table Top Simulator but I am very impressed with how easy it is to get things loaded up. I still have no idea how to share my game with others though or if it is even ready for that? Or really any idea how to program it. I'm definitely no code guru.

Still would love to get some folks together to try it out! Anyone interested?

Also interested in videos, tips, or advice.

I'm supposed to go on a Podcast this weekend to talk about my game and the upcoming Kickstarter but I haven't even really tried using TS to play it yet! Eeek! The game is called Bananarchy and it's a chaotic party card game where three to eight players smash, stash, snack and sabotage their way to collecting the most Bananas.

I have to create a Kickstarter founder video explaining my game, Bananarchy, and why I created it. I don't have any professional skills as a videographer. I have an iPhone a tripod and my laptop can do teleprompt. How do I setup the space to make it look clean and professional? It needs to be horizontally filmed and will go after our animated trailer.

How do I get a good background, good shots of the game, and make sure it looks clean? Would people recommend I shoot wider and then cut it in? Any advice or tips here would be really appreciated!

Help! If I can only print two of these Bananarchy play mats in our game which should I choose and why? I would appreciate if you rate them from 1 (your favourite) - 4 (the least favourite) and then share your reasoning!

ps. thanks to everyone who contributed to the previous post to get the mats to this point! Your insights really helped! Please feel free to also point out any feedback on these versions.
