Travelling to Europe - do I need to inform CapOne?

Hey!

Basically the title, I’m travelling to Europe and will use my VentureOne a bit there, do I need to inform CapOne somehow? This is my first CC with CapOne so I’m not sure. My friend has a Chase SP and their purchases were constantly getting declined when they travelled to Canada even though they called Chase 3 times, so I’d rather be safe than struggle later.

Thanks!

Does Cap One do a credit check for CLI increase?

Hey!

I got my ITIN in April and got approved for the Cap One VentureOne with a $1k limit. I’ve used around $300 so far and paid it all off. I’m considering putting a CLI but I don’t really need the extra limit so I don’t think it’s worth getting a credit check for that.

Thanks

CSP application issues

Hey, I posted here yesterday asking if I should apply for the CSP and most of you said yes so I applied for it last night. It went into review so I called the application department this morning to check if I need to submit any documentation.

Here’s where the issue starts: they ask to send me an otp on my phone (I used my Canadian number for the application), they’re unable to send the otp, so they ask me verification questions, in the questions they ask me if how long I’ve worked for some company or lived on a street and in both cases I’ve never even heard the names of the company and street so I tell them that, and they say that they couldn’t verify my information and can’t talk to me about my application. I’ve called them 3 times and had the same issue each time. I really don’t know what’s going on.

Has anyone else run into a similar issue? I called equifax and confirmed that the information they’re asking is not in my report either. I really don’t know what to do… I did check the box on the application to use international credit history as I thought it would help my application but I have never heard of those places in Canada either.

Any suggestions on how I can get an answer? The automated system at the start of the call does say that they need documents and I’ll receive a letter in 7-10 days.

Thanks!

Chances of getting approved for CSP with 730 score?

Hey!

I got my ITIN in April and applied for a Capital One VentureOne that was approved with a $1k limit. I also had an Amex personal card ($17k limit) that I got using Global Transfer 1y9m ago and I got that linked to my ITIN.

I just checked my free credit score on equifax and I have a 730 score (I’m assuming because of my good amex history). I want to apply for the CSP as the 100k offer is too good to pass but I’m unsure if I’ll get approved. I’m a bit reluctant to get a refusal. I don’t have any banking history with Chase and I’m way under 5/24.

What do you guys think? Have any of you got approved in a similar situation? Thank you!

Appointment needed for SSN?

Hello!

I just wanted to ask if I need an appointment to get my SSN at an IRS office once I receive my TN or if I can just walk in and apply for it there. IRS doesn’t accept calls from Canadian numbers so I’m having trouble reaching them. I was planning on going right after getting my TN at the border (assuming it all goes well🤞)

Kindly let me know, thank you!!

Thousand Islands Bridge feedback

Hey!

I’m a CS student about to apply for TN under Software Engineering New Grad role, I heard good things about the Thousand Islands Bridge from a few people so was considering going there since it doesn’t require an appointment.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has any recent success/failure stories for the bridge. I know peace is a good option but I want to avoid going there since it’s requires an appointment and they would have my documents before I go there.

Thanks!

CS Spec Degree

Hey!

I’m a 5th year CS Spec graduating in June with an HBSc degree. I’m just wondering if it’ll say that I specialized in CS anywhere. I was under the impression that it should say that on my transcript, but I paid for the official transcript and can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Any ideas where I can find it?

Thanks!

Cheapest phone number for OTPs?

Really sorry if this has been asked before!

What providers/apps do you guys use for OTPs? I'm looking for the cheapest option. Currently I only have CCs with Amex and Capital One but hoping to expand to Chase and Citi in the future.

FYI: I live in Canada

Thank you!

Hey!

I have a US roaming plan and I will be moving to the US in July. Apart from the occasional weekend trip back to Canada every couple weeks, I’ll be living in Austin full time.

Now, I still have a contract remaining on my phone with Rogers until July 2027, so my plan is to continue using my phone there for data and just get a cheap prepaid plan to get a US number that I can use for banks and stuff.

I’m wondering if Rogers will get mad and throw tantrums because of that continuous roaming usage for a year.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

Hey!

I’m a student at University of Toronto, I’m graduating on June 4 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. I majored in Computer Science.

I have received a job offer for a Software Engineer New Grad position. Is there a good chance I can get my TN? I’ve seen the non-engineering degree engineer position posts here but also see some success stories of people who were granted their TN. I don’t have a lawyer yet, should I get one? Also, which port of entry do you suggest? I live in Toronto but if a different city has a better chance I don’t mind going there.

Thanks a lot!

Hey!

I got my first card, the Venture One as it was the only one I was pre-approved for. Quick question, while I wait for my card, is there any way I can add it to apple pay from the app so that I can start using it earlier? I have set up my account already.

Thanks!

Hi! I applied for my ITIN on Jan 2 and received my letter 2 days ago. I did submit a 1040NR form and claimed a $95 income which results in $9 in taxes.

I was about to pay the $9 but just wanted to make sure I wasn't messing something up. I found the pay1040 payment portal on the IRS website when I selected "pay with credit card". Can someone please verify everything looks good so that I can make the payment?

Thanks a lot!!!
