Finally got a job everyone, just wanted to share. I was struggling to find a job, but I have a job and I asked the girl of my dreams out and she said yes. It's the first time a girl has said she liked me back and I kind of made a few slip ups but I don't even know what to think right now, I know nothing about dating lol. I have no clue what she was thinking. Now I have a job so I can finally stop struggling so much. And that was the whole plan really, I went job hunting a week ago because I realized I liked this girl alot but didn't have the money to date her, and I went for it.
Just been thinking, just because I'm not a good fit for a job does not mean I have no worth as a human being but ofcoarse it's easy to forget that when life is behind paywalls. I'm waiting to hear back from a restaurant for a 3rd and final interview(for food prep, part-time); honestly, if I don't get it, I'm good. I'm tired of trying to work in restaurants, i worked in them all my life but for some reason I have a hard time getting FOH positions, not sure if it's cause I'm an older black male but whatever. I'll just go to my cultural niche and start looking at factories. I checked Uber to one and it was $12 to $15, so $30 a day to get there and back. And I'll just do that while studying the hell out of coding, getting my masters in a few months and never return deal with the service industry here again. I mean I get the message loud and clear, they just want me in the back, that's what I keep hearing, and that's fine for them but not for me.
update: well I got an update from the third interview, looks like I got the interview after all somehow. I was looking to the sky crying begging for an answer lol. It may not go well but all hope is not lost just need to pass this last one and I get the job!! I can maybe build a life, ask the woman I cared about and help my family, so I'm hopeful.
Was looking forward to quitting my job that might as well have been a damn bait-and-switch, giving me one day a week. So I get an interview at a restaurant as a cashier; the guy really likes me he says they need cashiers. It's 13 an hour, it will be full time, i was so excited. I also developed a crush on my coworker(who has a small crush on the general manager's son, unfortunately, to my annoyance). But I was planning on asking her out after I quit just for a drink(i don't like dating coworkers). I also had another job interview for something for the mornings, and the times did not conflict, so I'm like, finally something good is happening. The students are coming back so I know it's going to be busy. I also talked about eventually moving into a serving position from cashiering so It felt like I could move up unlike the job I have which is capped at 12 hours with no room for moving up.
But as always not matter what you do, it does not matter. 1st job: some younger woman said she would call on a certain day, i called the check if any decisions had been made but not yet. She was supposed to call but nope, I was praying for that call. And the 2nd job, I was waiting for the general manager to call for a 2nd interview. So I finally get through. The manager who interviewed me seemed a bit... scattered but he was kind. But he did not even tell the general manager about me, im glad I called. The manager tells me he is full on cashiers for a while until they get trained as servers in a few weeks. I was crushed; my mom wanted the news so i told her. I have been crying ever since, never has a plan failed so badly and I was actually kind of excited about asking someone out since I have not in years, even had a nice little outfit. I am so sick of this job market at this point I might start looking at some of those tents behind the liquor store; I mean if they have liquor maybe it's not so bad. And i'm asking my crush out and quitting anyways, screw this.
On the bright side I do have one interview lined up for a morning job but it's a 3 interview, 1-interview-a-week type deal so it's a long process and it's in the city so I have to uber home. The only reason I applied there was because I was sure I was getting the cashiering job at night which would help with uber.
Update: I am so devastated I can barely think straight. I stopped drinking 2 months ago, thinking things would change and I got this job that I have. It really looks like things were looking up. Then they cut my hours and it was permanent. I only make around $400 and my rent is $529. Nothing is changing, I feel i have no value to anyone. This can't be what a normal life is like.
At this point I might as well start hitching a ride or get a second job just to pay for Uber. No bus times, the bus is either 20 minutes early or late depending on the Google map times. I have an interview in a hour and most likely will have to get a Uber as I have been out for 30 minutes an nothing and when you call they said there's only one person driving or they may be on lunch whatever that means. Horrible, and insult in my opinion to make me people wait especially in this hot heat for 40 minutes for a bus to come because you have no exact times? Bo way. Do I go to City Hall and say something or how does that work? I'm pretty much a hermit. But someone needs to bring this up. I depend on that bus to get me to work.
I'm an INFJ 4w5, I work as a stocker at a grocery store, the team lead is an ESTP 8W9, I have a work crush on her. She is very blunt but not mean. She likes the carts we put the produce in to bring to the aisles stacked a certain way so it makes it easier on the floor. She's 36, i'm 35 and a half. It's funny because we are opposites in so many ways which is why i would never seriously pursue her especially while still working there. She likes to be outdoors on her four-wheeler, mudding, fishing, etc. She likes to tease alot. I'm humming rnb songs in the aisles, asking deep questions about what songs are playing, and thinking about stuff to write for my book. I do joke around with her alot and tease her about being late or like today she dropped an item but it's "Nice Teasing" if you can imagine that.
She won the lottery, bought a house and a nice car but she spent almost all of it, from what I hear. She has 2 daughters, 16 and 13. She hangs with some hostile people, though. She didn't come into work last week and we were like That's not like her. Her ex I think, sped off at full speed while she was getting out the car badly bruising her arms. She didn't even go to the hospital; she went home and bandaged it up herself, and i'm like you probably should of gotten that looked at. I told her she needs to take care of herself, and she said she might be considering going.
Me on the other hand, working 2 crappy minimum wage jobs in an apartment with roommates and no car. Plus i'm already pursuing someone else. But if I had a decent paying job and some more money i'd definitely take a shot. She would probably think i was a little too soft and quiet for her taste though lol.
Hello everyone, I'm an INFJ 4w5, 35, I've been working on trying to improve my Te a little bit and be more grounded, plus I have a crush on an ESTJ that I plan on asking out in 3 weeks. With that being said do ESTJs tend to feel "more adult"? It's a tricky question, I guess. I've accomplished a lot in this past month by working on my Te, I was able to get not one but 2 jobs after standing up to a former boss who was talking about my personal life behind my back (he was most likely an ESTJ as well, but an unhealthy one). I confronted him about it, and he denied it, which I did not respect. I thanked him for the job and offered to shake his hand, but he kept wanting to explain himself. When he said, "No, I don't want you to stay, but you're going to hear me out", I said "Absolutely not," and walked out. I am also on my last college class and getting ready to graduate with my master's in a few months. It's online, and in the small town I'm in I need to move first to get a job with my degree(hence the 2 jobs for the savings). With these 2 jobs and my student refund, I should have $6,000 saved up in 3 weeks. Honestly, I've been waiting months to ask this ESTJ out simply because I wanted a stable job and some savings.
I think a bit of it is that I still kind of feel like a child. I like making video games, music, and writing stories (using the MBTI and Enneagram to create unique characters). I am working on web development in my free time, taking Udemy classes since my major is information technology, but she's going to school to become a physician's assistant and maybe even a physician after a few years. That's just a very adult job, plus I feel it's more important than coding. Honestly, I'm worried my "childishness" will annoy her. I'm at a point where I feel I'm finally getting a handle on the adult thing it's just not something I enjoy, adulting. I do like being independent and being able to help my family out financially, which is why I like to work and I do want to start a business someday, but other than that, I'm not really big on money or status. The ESTJs I've known (especially my mom, an ESTJ 1w2) always seem like experts at being adults.
Infj 4w5 here, you guys are awesome, that is all..
Infj 4w5 male here, I sometimes wish I could be an ENTJ 3w4. In fact, I tend to hide my INFJ side from people because when I lean into it, I feel like I come off as very weird. Usually, when I'm job hunting I channel an ENTJ 3w4, when on a job, I channel an ISFJ 9w8 to keep the peace, be useful and set boundaries if needed, or INTJ 6w5 if I really don't like the boss, then im cold and always scanning for danger. When it comes to dating, I tend to project an ENFJ 2w3. I just never feel safe enough to be myself. When I am very upset, and I mean furious, i tend to act like an ENTJ 8w7, but I have actually been working on that a lot because that side tends to scare people and it burns bridges.
Still, I eventually revert back to myself, I do wonder how ENTJs actually are, though. I really don't meet that many. Keep constantly running into ESTJs and ISTJs, though. I kind of feel like I would be too sensitive to hang with the ENTJs.
Ugh, I am seriously done. Thankfully, I already have a job, but I work mornings, so I thought, " Why not get a second job? So I went to Arby's, I spoke with a manager, and I heard they are in the process of switching over from a franchise to corporate. She said to come in and speak with her next week, which was today. I get in there, and of course, the manager is on vacation all week, must be nice not living paycheck to paycheck, but I wouldn't know, and some other manager sent the employee to tell me they are still "switching over," whatever that means. I got an interview for Chipotle 2 weeks ago, the little a.i. Chatbox scheduled it, I don't know if they know this thing is scheduling interviews. I went in their 2 times, the first day there was no hiring manager on duty. But an employee said they would be there the next day, I woke up, got dressed go there the next day. The same employee smiling tells me they aren't there. Where in God's name are the managers? Then she gave me a sheet to write my name down, which had like 5 other names of poor souls who are left in job-seeking limbo. Then I got an email saying I wasn't selected for the position; they didn't even make good on the interview I studied for.
So yeah, I don't know, people always say people are lazy and don't want to work, but when they show the initiative, at least here, they get treated like a clown. I might just stick with the job I have, it doesn't pay enough, but I'll just pay all the money I get to bills, eat ramen noodles, can't afford to have friends, a social life, or hobbies, much less date anyone, so that's off limits for a while. Continue to donate plasma and save up all that money for a year, plus my final student refund before I graduate, and when I have enough, I'm leaving this place and never returning. I feel like I'm living in a 3rd world country here. I've never struggled to find jobs as I did here. And really, a little bit of transparency and honesty would go a long way. At this point, I'm done. Might as well just sit back, pay bills, eat some delta 9 gummies, play some video games, and just relax because all of my effort is not being taken seriously.
Anyways for those who want an update on what I discovered or if you're looking for a job
Arby's on Fair Rd-Not hiring until they switch to corporate
El Jalepenos- Full for the Summer
Azul Tex Mex Express-Full for the Summer
Insomnia Cookies of Chandler-Full for the Summer
Nonna Picci-Full, except for bartender positions, but you must have 1 to 2 years of experience
Zaxby's-Full I think, they may start hiring in July to prepare for the students
Dunkin Donuts on fair rd-Maybe hiring, they were hiring for 12-9, then they were full, now maybe in July
El Maguey (of Brampton)-If anyone was able to get a job here, i will give you a trophy, this place is never hiring, or maybe they only want to hire people who speak Spanish
El Sombrero off of fair rd-Full for the summer
Small Cakes/Emmy's Bubble Tea Lounge/Baldinos/Smoothie King-I don't know what is about that specific area, but I've lived near there for 3 years and I've never had any luck with these places; they don't offer online applications. They seem friendly, but they just took my application with a smile and I never heard from them.
Vino 1910s Wine Bar-Actually responded to an email i wrote and is hiring for BOH, but I think my morning job availability does not work for them because they didn't respond when I told them my availability
Aura-Was hiring for BOH, and I gave them my number to call me. A few hours later, an unknown number called me but left no message. I thought about calling it back, but was too afraid it would spam or a bill collector
I may try ZBest Tunis later on in the week but other then that i'm done, plus it has been so hot and stormy these past few weeks it's not worth it to walk to some of these places.
Starting to wonder if I will have enough to move from here. I tried applying to a ton of places from January to May. I do have something part-time, but I was hoping to get a 2nd job. I spoke with multiple businesses, and it was all "We will be hiring if you are here for the summer." I see a few posts on the Facebook job connection page, I apply, and I get "We are already full". Were they like hiring for only 2 days? Man, I miss Myrtle Beach so much. I can officially say I took life for granted. Just called Arby's, and it looks like they did a lot of hiring last week. I was too busy applying to El Jalepenos; they kept insisting, "We will call you, for sure". Please don't say that if you don't mean it, It's a 30-minute walk there, and every time I'm there, there's only like 5 people in there.
Has anyone been here before? Was considering taking someone here for a first date but when I went inside to get a brochure i started wondering if it's going to be boring or if there will be alot of kids. What do you guys think? In general i've had a hard time determining what would be a good first date spot here.
