Best of Terence Mckenna Playlist

Hi y'all, I'm really a fan of Terence Mckenna. Over the years, I complied the best talks he gave on youtube.

He teaches how to deal with bad trips, what he thinks is the purpose of psychedelic use and many topics. Enjoy.

Igbo Ukwu Bronze work from 1,200 years ago

Recently discovered this.

The technique has since been lost. Some of these were discovered in the 1920s by a man digging a well in Enugu.

The bronze work are said to be better than European bronze work of the period.

What's incredible and sad is that it's better than most Nigerian metal works today.

We nees to bring back artistry and skill into Nigerian made things.

Pictures of Igbo people from 1900s

The pictures are from the book, Among the Ibos by George Basden, published in 1921.

He's a Christian missionary who lived in Onitsha for 15 years and documented the culture before modernisation and colonial influence erased it.

1920s book: Living Among the Igbos of Nigeria

I've been reading this book written by a British missionary in 1921 and I've really learned a lot about traditional Igbo customs. It's a bit bleak in some places, the author mentions cannibalism, sacrifices, and child abandonment.

But also gives a very detailed account of normal Igbo life and trade before colonial control.

It was written by George Thomas Basden, who lived for 17 years in Onitsha detailing his life. His aim was to preserve historic records before modernisation erased it.

Interesting read, give it a try.

TIL Norway flew planes over Biafra to bring food to starving Children during the war

They risked being shot out out from the sky to deliver mostly dried fish to help with the severe protein shortage that was causing widespread kwashiorkor in Baifra.

Till today Norway is still sending aid to Nigeria. I'm grateful to Norway, yet ashamed that we've been an aid case since the 60s.

At what point do Africans stop collecting and start contributing? Even a child can't be sustained by a parent for over 60 years and still not contribute anything to help the sponsor. When do we change?
