So most people paint their Essas' noses, right? WELL, POOR LITTLE ZYP OF MINE DOESN'T HAVE A DAMN NOSE- my dog chewed it off like 5 years ago 😭✌ I don't quite have a pic rn, so just imagine this plush but with a Band-Aid over its nose and an oversized Hard Rock Cafe bear plush sweater ._.

I've bought some springtails from Amazon, but it doesn't specify the type. I don't think knowing what type they are really matters, but I'd still like to know :]

So far I'm deciding between River, Sparrow, or Jay, but I'm not sure and would love to know any other suggested names ^^. I'm leaning towards nature/birds, but nothing too unique, like moss or fern (just my opinion).

I like how smoothly River flows with my name, but I feel it leans more towards male.

Jay is my online name; I'm not sure of any cons.

I feel like Sparrow matches my vibe, and it doesn't seem like someone would quickly assume a certain gender when hearing it.

Ik pride is like every day, but it seems Pride Month is the only month I can really connect to people, and it's usually the month ppl come out; I had like 3 friends come out :D

So I have a really small colony of zebras (like 5 juvis and 1 adult), and I'm tryna find food for their protein. I'm thinking of Repashy, but which type? I don't want fish flakes cuz i hear they mold (my dad won't think twice before throwing them out the window if he hears of mold), and I don't think my parents will buy an entire bag of dried shrimp for 6 tiny lil creatures that they think are bugs. They'll let me get stuff for them (like the Repashy and stuff meant for them), but it's gotta be something that will last long enough and be small enough for my colony.

Also, mine are picky af. I've given them tomato, lettuce, cucumber, strawberry, carrot, and green bell pepper to try, and they've only touched the lettuce and bell pepper :/

I went to an expo ~2 weeks ago and got what was supposed to be a 10 count, but could only find 6, so my cheap parents (kinda mad we spent 10 extra dollars) are wondering how long it will take for them to start breeding and establishing?

Pretty sure they're all juveniles, maybe one adult, and I haven't spotted any molting. They have cuttlebone and eggshells, and I'm currently exploring what foods they like (so far only bell peppers and lettuce, and haven't touched tomato, carrot, or cucumber.

They have ~2 inches of soil and a bit less than half the tub (6qt) has sphagnum moss for a moisture gradient. They have plenty of leaves (getting cork bark soon) and a lotus pod, along with other seed pods scattered throughout for hides. Any suggestions on boosting their breeding/growth rate, like types of food, leaving them alone, or certain moisture levels?

Went to a reptile expo ~an hour ago and got a 10ct of zebra isopods!!! Also got like a tub and stuff for them, and also a zebra isopod pop-socket, zebra isopod pin, and zebra isopod sticker to put on the tub. I luv zebra isopods :3. There were so many crested geckos, like everywhere I looked lol, but I was able to find the nicest isopod vendor.

I think I've got everything they need in their tub? Here's what I got (tell me if I'm missing anything they need plz):

• ~2 inches of dirt
• Dry side coated in leaves
• Cuttle bone chunk on the dry side
• Sphagnum moss on the wet side, moist with a spray bottle
• Lotus pod and some other seed pods suggested by the vendor were scattered throughout
• I'm soaking a small arch-like stick
• Food bowl

Pretty sure that's everything? The tub isn't right next to me, and I can't take a pic cuz Im busy rn, so yeh.

I was supposed to get 10, but I only counted 7 as I put them in. My mom's a bit mad (not really, but eh), tho I think at least one of them is gravid, so it'll make up for it ig.

I'm gonna collect some oak leaves from my yard along with any branches my dog hasn't eaten yet, but I'm undecided on how to sanitize them.

All the Reddit posts I find about this topic are old, and there are a lot of confusing comments and arguments in the comments, so it's kinda hard to tell what's best.

I heard baking, but apparently, it kills the good bacteria. I've heard boiling, and it seems good, but one of ya'll probably know a con of it. I've also heard freezing, but ppl say it doesn't kill everything. What should I do? I've got till the 18-20th cuz thats when my tank is coming😣

Ok, so we're going to a reptile expo on Sunday (it's currently Friday) and getting my first isopods, but we forgot to order the tank! It's going to arrive June 16-18, and we're getting the pods on the 14! Any temporary enclosure ideas? I've got limited things to use, and strict parents!

You may have seen my previous posts, but basically, my parents don't trust online isopod shops, just cuz they may not be reliable in terms of DOA.

Because of this, I suggested a reptile convention, and they actually said that'd be good because we'd know exactly what we're getting!

I was looking around, and HERPS Exotic Reptile and Pet Shows is hosting a convention like 50 minutes away on June 13-14, and I figured "What a coincidence!" lol, but anyways, does that convention have a good reputation?

Tbh, I don't really know how conventions work, so I'm kinda assuming they have certain standards for like the quality of animal/temporary enclosure?

My go-to would be Morph Market, but my parents don't trust them because there's a bunch of different sellers, and one might not be reliable.

I was surprised to find Amazon offers live isopods, and they're pretty cheap.

Should I get some from there, or do you guys have any better suggestions?

I'm planning to get some roly poly isopods and have done my research, but I'm still finding the right morph to look into.

What I'm aiming for:

• Cool patterns like Rubber Ducky, Magic Potion, or Panda
• Easy to care for (Mostly with like moisture and stuff)
• Slow breeding, so I don't have to upgrade too often.

I love flashy morphs, especially Dairy Cow and Panda, but I heard Dairy Cows reproduce a lot, and fast, and Pandas need a lot of moisture (I'm bad at that tbh), which are the two things I want opposite of.

Now, ofc, I'm gonna start with the ones in my backyard (Armadillidium vulgare), as my parents aren't gonna let me buy any until they know that I can keep some from dying for a while and that they won't be wasting money.

So basically, for those who've seen my previous posts, and for those who haven't, I've kept a roly poly isopod in a jar for a bit, and many ppl have told me it's wrong, and I realize that too. I just wanted one so bad that I researched blindly and was told a jar would be perfect for a single one, because my parents wouldn't let me fill a larger tub with the needed dirt.

Thankfully, I've made a deal with my parents that if I (the world's biggest procrastinator) clean my room by next Wednesday, I can get a proper tank and hold more than just one isopod!

And for those saying I haven't done proper research just because of the jar, as kindly as possible, I'd like to say you are wrong. It's hard to explain, but I know how a proper setup works. I just made the childish mistake of getting one even when I knew I didn't have the proper setup.

I hope Lord Polly forgives me as I release him back into the wild.
